“Teikoku you say? I didn’t know you used to play in that school.” Inazuma Japan recruited the best players from Japan; however, Midorikawa had not taken the bother to ask his teammates where they came from or in what school they used to play, also because of the fact he had to leave the team for the injury he had.

He had heard of Teikoku before. He knew it was a strong school in terms of soccer, but he never imagined Sakuma used to study there.

“And tell me, Sakuma, do you work on something? I need to work and I’ve been searching for a job but I’m still not sure which one to choose… Do you have any recommendations?”

An unexpected guest.

It surprises Accelerator, pulling him out of his idle thoughts and homework. He’s never had somebody drop by unannounced and unexpectedly, so he can’t help but feel annoyed as he pushes himself off the apartment couch, gripping his cane in support as he heads towards the door— and doesn’t even recognize the hesitant looking person on the other side.

"Who the fuck are you," He snaps out, his voice more noticeably irritated than he intended. Fuck. Can’t he ever be polite, he wonders miserably? Then again, this person showed up unannounced and unexpected, which is just rude.

Well… That didn’t turn out so well.

Why me? Now what? Those were just a few questions Midorikawa had in his mind, but he had to calm down and put together his thoughts, his next words and his next actions.

Perhaps, his future roommate was not told that there will be someone living with him from now on? This is bad, and plus, the boy didn’t seem the kind who has many friends. But that doesn’t matter now! It was too late to go back, and he had to keep going. He didn’t know very well how to handle situations like this, but he always get to move on, although the results always vary.

Midorikawa took a deep breath and greeted as usual.

“Good afternoon. My name is Midorikawa Ryuuji-”

He paused for a moment. It was time to tell ‘who the fuck was him’. Midorikawa prepared for whatever the reaction of the boy will be and continued explaining.

“I think they didn’t inform you but… I will be your new roommate.”

" Yeah, I guess you could say I pick up on things quickly." Which was true in itself, because he seemed to have grasped the concept quickly…Or at least quicker then the normal person.

" Yeah I have actually."

"You... Are very lucky." And he really was, at least for Midorikawa because it took him a while to become better. He felt a little jealous because it sounded as if the boy had achieved it in the first attempt, when it took him years to develop his skills.

"You really have? And how did they called you? The ace striker or perhaps the unwavering defender?"

" Ah, I see. that’s cool!" Besides one person the only people he’s meet so far that play soccer where his friends from back at Raimon. So, meeting more people with a love for the sport was always nice.

" Hum.. well I wasn’t keeping track really.. but not too long."

“Really?” He was a little surprised with the response of the boy since he had to train for a long time to become as good as he is now. By the sincerity in his words, he knew that boy was telling the truth.

“Have you played in a soccer team before?”

The flashy pink paint of that phone booth was what it called his attention. He never imagined he would see something like this in the city. Strange and intriguing. He doubt to enter, but he was already opening the door. Nothing weird or bad happened. at least not yet?

“Room three… Room three… Oh, here is the room three.” After been looking his apartment for hours, he fell glad he finally reached to it.

Now he will have time to take a little rest for all the efforts he did, and maybe have conversation too. Yes, he had been advised that he was not going to live alone and that he would have a roommate. Midorikawa could only think what kind of person they could be. Kind and calm as his friend Hiromu, or, perhaps stubborn as a certain redhead he knew… But standing there in front of the door he would never find it out; although it didn't matter anyways what kind of person will be since he had even bought some chocolates as a little present. He really bought it for him but the idea came to his mind later. About to open the door, he suddenly stopped.

And what if they didn’t like people who just come in without knocking? Or what if they were not present to receive someone? Or what if it was someone who knew his old self? Or what if they didn’t like chocolate at all?… All these possibilities crossed Midorikawa’s mind. It was his first time living alone, by himself, with someone who didn’t know. He wanted to do his best to not give a bad impression and he will not let be overcome by the nerves, and so, at the end, he decided to give three knocks on the door and wait for whoever was inside, open it.

Star Gazing | {Ryuuji}

Astronomy was something Haruhi was interested it, not because she was particularly fond of space itself, but because she was fond of what lived in space: aliens. To some people, it would seem quite silly to take an astronomy class solely to try and search for aliens, but to her, it seemed silly to not take an opportunity to discover some extraterrestrial friends.

However, the class had mostly been lectures and note-taking so far, and Haruhi was getting antsy. The entire reason she took the class was to use the high-quality telescopes, but she didn’t have the opportunity to even touch one once yet. Which is why, after class today, she decided to take initiative.

The teacher kept the telescopes in the closet near the back of the class. The door to it was always locked, but Haruhi had noticed the teacher always kept the key in the bottom left drawer of their desk. She waited until everyone was gone. Once the class was empty, she made her move. She ran over to the teacher’s desk, and grabbed the key out of the conveniently unlocked drawer. A mischievous laugh escaped her. She had won, and with such ease too. She trotted over to the closet and jammed the key in. However, even though she had managed to unlock it, the heavy door still refused to open.

She grumbled. ”It’s stuck…” After 5 heaving pulls with no success, it became apparent that she wouldn’t be able to open it herself. She needed a second pair of hands and muscles to help her. She carefully poked her head outside the class door, making sure no teachers were in sight. As she inspected the left side of the hall, she noticed a student with green hair walking towards her. He was familiar- Haruhi was almost certain he was in her astronomy class. This had to be fate. As soon as he was in close distant, she waved a finger in his face.

"I need your help! Now! No objections!"

When he was walking towards the exit and thought he had everything in order, then, that’s when his sixth sense told him that something was missing. Just to confirm, Midorikawa decided to give it a last check to his backpack to see if he had all his belongings in it. But in the end, something was actually missing. His small notebook in which he takes notes, was not there.

Where he may have left it? But he didn’t have to think it much, because he knew very well where it was. Of course, in the Astronomy class. After all, it was the last class he had, and remembered where he used the notebook. Without wasting more time, he put back everything where it was and started walking towards the class.

Astronomy. Why did he choose to take that class? It was not like he would become an astronomer when he grew up, or at least not that he have planned it. Then, why? It would be a lie if he says that space is something that doesn’t attract him, at least now. Although it was wrong to deceive other people by making them believe that they were beings that were not from this planet, now he wondered what kind of things could be beyond it... Surely, space subject was something on which he wanted to learn more about it.

When he was just a few steps more to reach the classroom’s door, a girl suddenly came out. When he saw her face, he recognized that she was in his Astronomy class. He had never spoken to her before, but he was surprised to see her a little anxious.

And then, she suddenly called his attention.

Confused, Midorikawa look around and for his surprised, he was the only one there. Was she speaking to him? Definitely, and besides that, she was giving him an order…

Orders. It was something Midorikawa would not obey again, and less from somebody who wasn't from a higher level than him not like he had a defined level now anyways. Even so, his beliefs didn't let him an option and so, he approached the girl.

“You know what they said: ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed.’ What can I help you with?”

He stopped what he was doing to look up to where the somewhat farmilar voice was coming from. It was the boy he had meet a little while ago. He hadn’t asked for the others name before hand, so he wasn’t sure what to call him besides that.

" Oh, hello! though yeah I do play soccer."

“I see. You know, I play soccer too!” He was happy to meet someone who can share the same liking for this sport. His curiosity increased, and he decided to do a few more questions. It was true that it could be many people living here in this city, but how many more would like soccer?

“How long have you been playing? I can see you have talent.”

Well maybe he couldn’t find anything to do by himself inside the fair grounds. He sure did outside them though. He’d do something he loved more then anything, playing soccer. Even by himself in a somewhat empty park, soccer still was fun.

Midorikawa wanted to see if there were parks where he could play soccer. Since he arrived to the city, he hasn’t played, but there was something else that prevented him. He didn’t have a ball, at least not yet, but soon he will buy one. As he walked around, he saw one with a little field; perfect for practice. He saw a boy playing with a ball and for his surprise, it was a soccer ball, and not only that, he believes he has seen that boy before.

“Hey, excuse me but, is it me, or we just meet again? I can see that’s a soccer ball. Do you play soccer?”

He asked that because he didn’t know if the kid just went to the park with a new ball and started playing for the first time, or he actually had been playing for a long time; although it was a little obvious. You can’t be that good by playing for the first time… Right?

"Alright, then we can look around for while once the rain stops. New map you say." He said as he wonder a bit to the other from his nervous laughter.

"Hahaha, I guess you could say that, but it wasn’t just entertaining, since there was little stress and little accidents passed by. Yeah, it has been like that in this city; but I think the city goes a bit crazy for once a while, so be careful."

Now that he talks about it, there was lots of crazy things happened. Even the festivals he has been brought everyone really excited. It was really too bad that the other missed the Nagare fair festival back then(it was really insane especially the prizes….).

"Well now that I said it, I so far met and living with Genda, who used to be part of Neo Japan if we both remember? I also heard Kidou is here, though I’m not sure if he’s really here in the city."

So much for saying coincidence to find familiar faces.

“Hmm, is it like that? Maybe that makes it more entertaining…”

“But of course, I can’t have a final opinion without having experienced by myself. Don't worry, I'll take care.”

It was not like he had planned to do 'bad things'. He had already changed, and all the past was just a mask he was wearing. He said that because maybe he would learn more how to be a 'normal' kid, because a big part of his life had to pretend to be someone completely different. There was no time for life lessons...

“Genda… From Neo Japan…” And then, he remembered. That was the team Hitomiko was leading and challenged Inazuma Japan to game to see which team was Japan’s strongest. But that wasn’t the main reason why he remembered, it was because of his friend Osamu, who for some reason was stronger back then. Midorikawa was angry with himself at the time, but in the end, the score was in his team's favor, so he doesn’t keep any grudges.

“Oh, Genda, he was the goalkeeper from the other team, right? I don’t remember we shared words, but I do believe I remember his face. And you heard Kidou is here? I haven’t seen him for a long time, but I would like to say ‘hi’ to him.” And then, a question crossed his mind. “By the way, did you know Genda already?”

"A few days, still pretty new to this city then. I could show you around if you like, there are lots of interesting places you can check out. Though yeah, it’s a huge city, but it’s a coincidence to find familiar people in this city."

And Sakuma was glad that Midorikawa was too. Though as the other mentions what the other need to do after arriving, Sakuma remembered that he also have some stuff to do… Like still needing to do something about school and then deal about his training at defense force.. Then again.. The defense force was still in paper situations at the moment and it wouldn’t be too bad if he took a day off..right…?

Aside from that he replied to the other’s question after taking a sip from his drink,

"Oh, well a lot of things happened when I moved in here; both good and shocking I guess. If I remember correctly, I moved here three months ago; so, I guess that’s a long time living here."

“I see… At least your time here has been entertaining, or am I wrong? Is just… Wow, three months? That’s a lot of time. I guess it has been a little bit of everything here in this city.”

He remembered the little festival that took place a few days ago. Perhaps this city wasn't that boring and actually, offered lots of fun and new experiences.

“You said it is a coincidence to find familiar faces, right? By chance, have you meet someone we both known?”

He sat at the same table where the other sat after he ordered and received his drink. It’s been a long while since seeing the other after those good days. Of course there are questions for curiosity.

"What are you doing here? Did you move in to this city?"

“Yes! A few days ago to be exact. What happens is that I have been a little busy the past few days... I still have to arrange some school stuff, and get to know this city better, so I’ve been looking for places I might need in the future. But who would say, it is really a small world! I didn’t imagine I would find a familiar face in this huge city, but I'm glad I did.”

And he really was. Now, he didn’t have to worry that much if he felt disoriented. Not now that he knew Sakuma was here. He knew he could count on him if he needed to know something about the city. Although he didn’t know if Sakuma had recently arrived like him, he just assumed that he was already living here.

In a nice Monday morning, Sakuma running to exercise. Though as he was running around few streets, he noticed the rain was pouring down. He was surprised, didn’t realized the sudden rain on City. He needed to find a place to stay for little while since he didn’t had any umbrella.

As he enter a random building, it seemed to be a cafe. When he was about to order something, he noticed a familiar greenette sitting near the window. He went to the greenette, and it was no doubt that it was one of his friends from Inazuma Japan, Midorikawa Ryuuji.

"Midorikawa? It’s a surprise to see you here!"

It was like any other Monday morning, or well, that’s what Midorikawa thought. He had planned to go for a walk and start looking for places he might need in the future; grocery stores, libraries, restaurants, etc… But perhaps he didn’t choose a good day. The sky began to cloud, as some rain drops start to fall. He cursed his bad luck. Maybe the rain will probably stop soon, so he went to search for a warmer place to wait. A cafe nearby was the first thing he found. He entered and search for an unoccupied table and sat on one that was near a window. He focused his gaze towards it, watching some people pass accompanied with somebody else under an umbrella.

Yes, Valentine’s Day was near so it was normal to see a lot of couples together and feel that sweet atmosphere in the air. But Midorikawa was not too excited for the festive. Who knows why, he didn’t even know. He didn’t even want to think about that…

A voice made him leave out of his thoughts, and turn his look to where it was coming from. For his surprise, it was a familiar face. Seeing someone from Inazuma Japan made him happy.

“Sakuma? Same here! Please, come take a seat.”

A few days ago, when it was lunch’s time, Midorikawa start sitting next to a boy who, for some strange reason, even if they had not known for so long, he felt it was very easy to talk to. As if they had seen each other once, or perhaps they had something really in common that bind them…

"Look, I brought a piece of cake for dessert. If you finish all the vegetables, I will give it to you. What do you think?"

"Tch." And with a grin, he began to eat everything on his plate. Kariya reminded him old days when he lived in the orphanage, telling the others to eat everything on the plate, maintain order, etc. He definitely enjoyed the company of this boy. It was somewhat funny because it made him feels as if he was a father… Or rather a mother?

"Good. A deal is a deal. You won your dessert."

Midorikawa opened the small box and handed it to his companion that without hesitation began eating. “And just to let you know… I knew you brought dessert and you wouldn’t give me, so I had to improvise something…” The boy laughed, leading a piece of his recent prize to his mouth, which it was needless to say he won unfairly.

"… Ka… Kariya!!" Midorikawa was someone who didn’t like that much to share food, and less a dessert, but he always forgets one detail; his friend could be somewhat crafty.
