AND WHAT TYPES OF ASTROLOGY ARE THERE?

Astrology is one of the tools that help us explore ourselves and the world. Let us look at some of the main ways in which it contributes to a better understanding of ourselves and to navigating life situations and cycles more effectively.
1. Natal/Birth Astrology – first and foremost, the natal chart reveals our unique nature, our potential, and our temperament (sanguine, choleric, melancholic, phlegmatic, or a combination of these), which remains unchanged throughout our lives. It can:
define our inner conflicts;
show how we make contact with people in general and how we enter into and function within relationships;
reveal what type of partner we seek, what kind of partners we attract, and why;
outline our strengths and weaknesses;
indicate our creative predispositions;
point to the skills we can develop;
describe the type of ego we have;
clarify our emotional needs and how to meet them;
show how we assert ourselves, how we fight for what we want, and the nature of our willpower;
reveal what we like and how we make choices;
describe our value system;
show how we communicate, think, and learn;
deeper patterns we carry from early childhood, family lineage, or, for those who resonate with the concept, past lives;
indicate whether we live more in our head or in our body;
reveal whether we are more oriented toward the past, the present, the future, or a combination of these;
identify our defense mechanisms;
highlight where we may have energy blockages and how we can overcome them;
show how our daily life needs to be structured;
indicate what types of physical activities would suit us best and be sustainable in the long term;
help us understand what type of student or teacher we might be;
reveal what kind of employee or boss we can be, as well as what our employees might be like;
provide guidance on potential professions, with some interests remaining hobbies and others becoming careers;
describe the type of clients we may attract if we work with people;
help us determine whether we are more inclined toward having our own business, working for someone else, or combining both;
It reveals what energies we have developed in past lives—for those who believe in reincarnation or are at least curious about the topic—as well as what we are meant to develop in this incarnation, and whether doing so will come more easily or with greater difficulty. Our natal chart also tells the story of our life—what may have happened before we were born or shortly after our birth that could have shaped our attitude toward the world; what lifestyle suits us best; and how we can come to know ourselves more deeply, including our hidden sides and unexplored potential, as well as what we suppress within ourselves—certain elements (the qualities of fire, earth, air, and water) or the principles of specific planets. For example, for many people self-assertion is blocked—that is, the energy of the planet Mars.
The natal chart allows us to more easily discover who we are in relation to everyone else distinguish ourselves from the expectations of our parents and society, and in doing so address potential feelings of dissatisfaction and lack of direction in life. This makes the birth horoscope an excellent assistant to psychotherapeutic work, as it can help uncover the root of various issues more quickly. For example, we may believe that a particular problem in our life—and its source—is one thing, only to discover that it is something entirely different, helping us understand why all our previous attempts to resolve it have been unsuccessful.
2. Partnership Charts – here we are referring to all types of relationships: romantic, familial, and professional. It is important to note that even if we tend to encounter the same type of partners, they are never completely identical, though their natal charts may share significant similarities. Likewise, no two relationships are ever the same—each has its own specific characteristics that must be taken into account. There are two types of partnership charts, each serving a different purpose and offering different insights into a given relationship.
Synastry charts - they look at the natal charts of two (or more) people to understand how they interact with one another. They show which areas of life are activated between them, how each person affects the other, where understanding comes easily, and where tensions or conflicts may arise. These are aspects of the relationship people can work with consciously. Synastry helps us understand how the other person is wired and teaches us how to communicate in a way that creates less friction and allows the relationship to flow more smoothly and meaningfully.
Composite charts – they describe the relationship itself as a living whole. They show the purpose of the relationship, its emotional atmosphere, how communication flows, what the two people enjoy doing together, and the values they share as a couple. They also reveal how partners make decisions, act as a team, protect the relationship, and respond to change, as well as the relationship’s instinct for self-preservation and the couple’s shared longings and illusions.
In this sense, the relationship itself places certain demands on each partner. At times, they may differ from how one or both individuals naturally function, but they can also complement and balance them in meaningful ways. In some cases, a composite chart may point to a form of relationship that differs from social norms, or even from anything we have experienced before. Reading a composite chart can therefore be reassuring, reminding us that there is nothing wrong with a relationship simply because it does not fit conventional expectations—it can exist in its own authentic form, as long as it aligns with one’s nature or the current stage of life, and remains healthy and non-damaging for both partners.
3. Predictive Astrology – this branch of astrology allows us to track the various cycles of our lives—both personal and age-related—showing when events are likely to occur in specific areas of life, how easily or challengingly we may move through these periods, and what shifts may take place in our inner attitude toward different aspects of life. There is also predictive work related to partnerships, which shows when a relationship is likely to move through particular stages, highlighting periods of greater ease and harmony as well as more challenging or crisis-prone phases.
4. Medical Astrology – this branch of astrology highlights which organs may be most vulnerable for an individual, as well as the psychological themes that may lie behind certain chronic or temporary physical symptoms. It does not replace medical examinations; rather, it can offer guidance for emotional work and help identify which organs may be worth examining more closely. It can also indicate predispositions toward more persistent psychological patterns such as anxiety disorders, eating disorders, hypochondria, and related conditions.
5. Electional Astrology – it allows us to choose the most favorable dates for specific events, such as starting a business or project, getting married, purchasing or moving into a new home, traveling abroad, scheduling medical procedures, and similar undertakings.
6. Horary Astrology – this branch of astrology allows us to ask specific questions, including both yes-or-no questions and those that require a more detailed explanation, such as why we were rejected at a particular job interview. It can also assist in the search for lost objects and even missing people or animals.
7. Mundane Astrology – mundane astrology deals with the study and analysis of the cycles of historical development of the world and individual countries, and with forecasting possible future developments based on past events occurring under the same cycles in the same or in different signs.
8. Astrocartography / Astrorelocation – this branch of astrology explores where in the world different points of our natal chart are most strongly activated, allowing us to express our potential more fully. It is important to note that relocating cannot create talents that are not present at birth—no matter where we live, we will not suddenly become great singers, artists, or successful bankers. However, if the place where we were born or currently live does not offer supportive conditions for developing talents we already possess, astrocartography can indicate locations where those abilities may find greater opportunity for expression and growth.
9. Business Astrology – this area of astrology helps determine the most suitable timing for starting a business, highlights periods of growth and opportunity as well as times of potential challenge, and offers guidance on minimizing risks and making the most of favorable conditions. It can also be used to identify optimal moments to launch new products or services, expand a business, make investments, or restructure existing ventures. In addition, business astrology can be applied to partnership dynamics, brand identity, and long-term strategic planning, based on the horoscope of the business itself.
