☓ what’s it like to lose? ☓

I firmly rooted for Aoba Johsai and damnit did I tear up when they lost to Karasuno and started to cry. Of course Karasuno is lovable as hell and I do love them but Aoba Johsai’s blood sweat and tears was equally fierce and valid and maybe I'm just biased. 

Also, if you think about it, Oikawa is known by everyone to be the stronghold of AJ, and the one who is responsible for ensuring that everyone plays at their best,, so I’m just here imagining how he must feel thinking that maybe just maybe he didn’t play well enough for everyone’s strengths to have been brought out fully, causing their loss. Sad times. 

Also that pat on the back? Oikawa knew Iwaizumi was going to take it especially hard, and boy knew no amount of joking or sweet talking was going to make him feel any better. That’s what I love about how oikawa’s character was done, he knows his own limits and exactly what the team needs.

They had so little screen time and yet their connection stood out so much. Their loyalty and dedication to their shared dream? Damn. And Zilong never disrespecting or looking down on Shiting because he was weaker, but instead treating him with so much care and respect? Whipped. 

Fanart was done with my finger and on my phone so it’s a little shitty, my bad. 

The translation of the Chinese words is basically:

Zhuozhi: Takes photos of anything and everything, sunglasses and button-up shirt game strong, teases MSY about enjoying himself 

Yan Zhiming: Analyzes games, collects data and allocates everyone to each game booth according to their strengths so that their chances of winning is 100%

Xinglong: Rides the Ferris wheel and shouts BURNING each time he is at the top. Bugs Luxia to try it too. 

Lu Xia: Cool kid who pretends not to want to be there. Eats whatever food Qiao Chen and Jiale can’t finish. Competitive about the basketball-dunk game. Just wants to go back to school and train

Qiaochen: Stuffs his face with all kinds of carnival food. Runs out of money in the first half-hour. Offers food to Xingzi but she ends up paying.

Baiyang: Fights Qiaochen, spots a smol cat plushie toy and spends the entire day trying to win it for free. Ends up giving it to some kid.

Tang Jiale: The cutest cutest bean. Goes on all the rides, energy level up for the entire day, impatiently waits for team to catch up, whines until Dayong agrees to sit on the carousel with him. 

Chi Dayong: The responsible mom, keeping track of the money and Jiale, ensuring everyone is hydrated, secretly wants to ride the scariest ride and ends up going on it with Baiyang and Qiaochen, who are both scared but unwilling to admit it.

Bonus

Ji Jingwu: Has his team as his butlers, orders them to carry his shit and buy him food, slaps Songci every time he nods off while walking, asks the game booths manager which games Mu Siyang won and proceeds to waste a mountain of cash trying to beat his high scores. 

Bai Shiting: An actual angel. Sits quietly and observes the sunset and the sounds of people having fun. Thoughtfully chews popcorn.

Tian Zilong: Shiting’s self-appointed bodyguard, makes sure he doesn’t get cold or bored, directs The Glare at Yuan Chi whenever he complains.

When I first started Chinapuri (The Prince of Tennis Chinese live action remake), I never expected the characters to be so lively and lovable and admittedly hot. Chi Dayong and Tang Jiale’s relationship was so pure and really stood out to me, and damn I was so invested in their arc. 

To have Dachi supporting Jiale unconditionally, Jiale slowly maturing and realising how much Dachi needed him as more than just a doubles partner but also as a close friend, and them eventually becoming even more inseparable, their journey was just amazing and heartwarming. You can really see how their trust and care for each other deepens over the episodes.

Guys PLEASE watch The Prince of tennis Match! Tennis juniors it’s on Netflix. The fandom is way too small. It’s definitely definitely worth a watch. Or should I say shot haha.
