It was a cast whom I just adore and I think will always adore. It was the time in which we were telling the story which seemed so vitally important. It just was perfect.

I’m not - Fuck no! For him?! No fucking way! The drugs OK, sure, fine, but no fucking way am I praying for him. My New Deal Pinko Parents in Schenectady would never forgive me, they’re already so disappointed, “He’s a fag, he’s an office temp, and now look, he’s saying Kaddish for Roy Cohn.” I can’t believe you’d actually pray for -
Louis, I’d even pray for you.

When I was very young, I saw a youth production of a show—I don’t even remember what the show was—but I remember turning to my dad and saying, ‘I think I could do that.’ Not like, ‘I want to be that when I grow up.’ Just me acknowledging within myself, like, ‘I see myself being up there doing what they’re doing.’

30 Day Music Challenge: Musical Theatre - Song that should be played loud: So Much Better from Legally Blonde the Musical
“Seeing my name in black and white
It’s like making love with you all night
No, wait, it feels so much better
‘Cause I am so much better than before!”
Great Comet Character — Natasha Rostova
“ i am seized by feelings of vanity and fear — there is no barrier between us, whispers and moans, and ringing in my ear, there is no barrier between us. divine, delicious, but i do not see or hear anything, i’m borne away to a senseless world: so strange, so remote. i don’t know good from bad — anatole, anatole…i’m so frightened!
…and as we danced, he pressed my waist and hand — and told me i was bewitching. ”
The pride of sacrifice gathers in my soul. And he forgets things, he falls asleep at the table. His napkin drops to the floor, his shaking head sinks over his plate. He is old and feeble, and I dared to judge him. I disgust myself. I disgust myself.
We are speaking of most ordinary things…
Yet, I feel closer to you than I ever had with any other man.

It’s the very devil! Here, feel how it beats!
I just want to talk about this moment really quick. This is Tony nominee Ari’el Stachel son of Middle Eastern immigrants, who after 9/11 got bullied so much that he would pretend he wasn’t of Middle Eastern descent. He changed his last name and shortened his first name to make it sound less ethnic, and didn’t go to his high school graduation so his classmates wouldn’t see his parents. He almost thought that acting wasn’t for him until he saw a listing for The Band’s Visit and auditioned. Now he’s out here proudly proclaiming his heritage for the first time in 8 years, in every interview he’s in and got a nomination for his character Haled, in the 1st authentic Middle Eastern musical written by actual Middle Easterners. This is the kind of representation I’m living for from this season!
