excerpt from noah hanifin media availability @ 4 nations faceoff 11 feb 2025 via vgk twt
interviewer: [what’s it] like being around team usa?
hanifin: it’s been incredible, you know, uh, a lot of these guys i have a history of playing with, and played together at the national program, and just guys that i grew up playing with, so it’s just been a lot of fun just to get back together, and be on the same team again, um, i think it should help our chemistry, it’s coming together pretty quickly
i: you spend a lot of time with jack during the regular season, do you kind of go your separate ways here, or [..] together all the time?
h: no, we’ve been side by side, i mean even away from the game jack’s one of my best friends, you know, i, uh, just to be able to be his teammate, you know, with vegas, but also here representing our country is something special, and you know, we’ve had a lot of fun so far, and hanging out with all the guys, and then having a lot of laughs.
[and then they go on to talk about the usa hockey dinner]
x.com
new d pairings today and thank god bc vegas hockey has been extremely stressful recently. at least they’re doing something
?
hi golden girlies could i interest you in a shot on goal, perchance,
it’s been a while since i’ve been scared of a vegas game. to be honesltkdkdnsndn
did getting named to 4 nations team usa fix noah hanifin. power of friendship ?!????!!!
i don’t even really go here but this one killed me a little bit like all of this… during tomas hertl’s return to sj… oh the narrative writers made celebrini in a slow cook soup
https://x.com/sanjosesharkspr/status/1872869123648258144?s=46&t=g_tLVAfaPqXPlI1Sbvqplw
ended second period on the powerplay down 2-3 -> i went to lunch -> met my friend as the third started -> didn’t look at my phone for two minutes -> looked at the score -> ITS 4-3????? -> open the nhl app -> DOUBLE SHG?????????? -> third period comeback = vgk hockey
(i never doubted)
this game shouldnt scare me because famously vgk are a third period team and equally famously sjs cannot hold onto a lead to save their lives. which means this is the mostly likely game for vgk to lose
i stand corrected
stoppable force (the current standings of the nhl) meets moveable object (hockey gods and narratives) -> ? -> anyone's game
<- girl who is not even watching the game live. just getting score updates

spent my morning bus ride talking about boston -> started my morning session with a hanny goal -> coincidence? why did the sharks have to score as i typed this
i lost my mind a little and started a google sheets for 4 nations rosters & thought i would post here in case anyone else wants to perceive the narratives ... doing draft years + past nhl teams + juniors teams (just their last one, so chl/ncaa hockey/etc.) (<- mostly relevant in ntdp cases but anyways) + international tournaments . everything taken from the career stats section of their wikipedias. i've done the usa/can rosters for now but will try to get around to the swe/fin ones when i have a moment... hope this helps someone out there lmao
sorry for mistakes this is not double checked. but if u let me know i will fix them
nightmare fuel (4 nations faceoff rosters)
(the lists are actually created as filters in some cases. i dont know how to fix that in published format, but if anyone really wants the file itself let me know)
(hockey teammates is really good for stuff like this too but i couldn't figure out a good way to convert that to a roster wide inter-association thing so. big google sheet)
a little fun stats moment. fitting considering i started this whole thing because i wanted to know how many 2015s were in this thing
(edited to include whl. that's my bad i fucked up my data columns do Not do stats in google sheets)
more more stats!
mostly did this one because of puckpocketed's transcript of this interview about dmen being drafted in later rounds except. well. the stats...
also, i wrote a little python program that'll make a csv for you with all the same data as my spreadsheet above that can be customised for a roster of your choice. though it takes data from wikipedia so if a player don't have a wikipedia page with stats and info then it doesn't really work 😭
i am by no means a programmer so it might just. break halfway. but if anyone is interested i would be happy to share <3 if anyone wants to see what it'd look like i ran it on the 4 nations rosters and added it to a new tab on the gsheet above
(there are still a couple of minor formatting bugs. i will get around to them sometime)
girlhood is doing a stem degree and being delusional enough about my programming skills that i actually think i can write something to make a spreadsheet for me the next time the nhl does some fuckass international tournament. or the olympics
sometimes delulu IS the solulu 💖

your hockey team that you dearly love is like a defensive defenseman. when they’re bad Oh Boy do you feel it. misery and goals against. but when they’re good the amount of joy they bring you is deeply underrated and overlooked like i’m sitting here in the middle of a Fuckass Day and i’m like actually it’s not so bad because my golden girls won their hockey game. Yeah it was against the 24-25 ducks but They won their hockey game
