My Father Was a Good Man is a comic I wrote in 2023 that you can now read online or buy physically. Many of you may have seen it described as a horror story involving a wolf, but at its heart it's a story about domestic violence. I wanted to take a moment to speak about that more earnestly.

Many immigrant children grow up believing the abuse they experience at home is normal. Laughing off being hit with a shoe or beaten for poor grades as if it were simply part of life. This comic is about reckoning with those quiet, everyday horrors, and how sometimes the worst acts of violence come from those closest to us.

If you have ever struggled at home, I hope this work reaches you. I hope it lightens a memory you’ve carried alone for too long. I wrote this story about a specific time in my life when I was 16. I am 29 now, and with time and effort, things have turned out alright.

fun facts about the latest episode :]

the cross on morella's rosary is a bottony cross (also called a botonny or trefly cross). it is a heraldic cross, and it's also Catholic.

maeve's pin thing is from something called Cumann na mBan. It was formed in Dublin in 1914 and it's an Irish Republican Women's Parliamentary Organization. they took part in the War of Independence and chose the anti-treaty side of the war. they helped provide shelter, did gun-running and also took part in the military action of the war.

Now that all of the Nevermore main cast have flashbacks with substantial hints about their backstories, here are what seem to be the eras and areas they're from/died based on context clues!

Annabel and Lenore: England and New York. died 1901 (references to steam ships, the dates on the Barbie mugshot meme art)

Prospero: USA, died c. 1900-1910 (clothing hints, could be during the San Francisco plague of 1900-1904)

Montresor: Southwest USA, died c. 1900-1910 (Western setting + Gibson Girl hairstyle on background characters)

Duke: France but presumably died in USA, 1912 or shortly after (his coin date, crowd member at his death mentions Peoria, IL)

Morella: Ireland, flashback/assumed death 1919-1921 (Irish War of Independence)

Berenice: New Orleans USA, died 1920's (last meal dish, clothing hints)

Pluto: Blackpool UK, died c. 1923-28 (Works at Pleasure Beach, specific rides shown that were built/demolished between then, dad appears to be WWI veteran)

Will: Kansas USA, died 1930s (Dust Bowl era)

Eulalie: Presumably USA, died probably late 30s-very early 40s (No mentions of WWII, clothing hints)

Ada: Southern USA, died 1940s (clothing + war mentioned, accent)

My thoughts on Annabel Lee.

Actually, when the Nevermore chapters first started coming out on the webtoon in 2022. And as the story progressed, I read the comments back then. 

And I saw a lot of people who were unhappy with Annabel, he-he, that she shouldn’t be trusted, etc.

But I never felt suspicious of her. Her character appeals to me purely mentally, as a strategist. I really like these shots of Annabel, her facial expressions here. If I were Lenore, seeing Annabel like this, I would immediately fall in love with her. So I understand why Lenore burned down her house and came to Annabel.

But what happened in those chapters is what happened. And I'm interested to see how Annabel character will develop further. 🌹

I'd like to add a little something (besides I totaly agree with what you said)

Annabel Lee is a strategist and she LOVES that. She has so much fun playing games and building roads to victory (maybe too much fun sometimes)

But my favorite exchange between our two favorite characters is this one

Annabel is in her field, she catches clues like no one else because she knows where to look. The "currency topic" tells us so much about the way she understand and play her game : she knows that everyone wants something and she intend to navigate through those desires to use them as levers against everyone else.

That's where Lenore is different

She doesn't need to think, she acts with her guts and feelings. Pure emotion. But so powerfull.

Where Annabel proceed with caution and strategie, Lenore jumps in and smack some faces in her way.

And Annabel sees that. More than anything she loves that. Also because she has all the memories backward.

And what makes my little ramblin-scenaristic brain giggling is that Lenore also sees through Annabel

And I love the fact that, in the first season, Annabel was the frightening mastermind presented to us like a relentless manipulator, ready to do anything and everything to save one single person, and in season two we have a subtle switch, Lenore beeing the one we start to be frighten by

Part 3 of Different Scenographys in Nevermore

(And analysis again)

In a chronological way, this leads us the our most favorites chapters of Nevermore :

The Arboreum

This two chapters were a thrill to read ! So powerfull on their dialogues and intentions and of course their scenography !

With deep green, blue and purple (in wich Annabel fits perfectly in her dressing gown, keep that in mind), the arboreum is an explosion of greenery. So much we could think that it's abandonned, just like the academy itself.

In the background we see greek columns that can remind us of greek gardens.

Reminds me the open theatres from Ancien Greece and the symbolic that comes behind : comedy and tragedy, both related to the idea of Fate.

Knowing that Lenore and Annabel are playing some sort of perfomance and that this might end really bad (i'm not prepared to it), it intrigues me 'cause in this chapter they are supposed to be themselves with each other. But that can't be since they don't have their full memories recovered yet.

Drama

I love this two panels, they give us so much informations on the mindset of the characters. As I said earlier Annabel fits perfectly with the blue and green tones (blue and green being called "cold" colors) and Lenore could be felt like the intruder, being associated with red. But purple apears in shadows and in the background, it's not a warm color but it's close to pink. Therefor we can interpret this color as a bridge between them : this scene is about creating a bond between our two main characters even if they're separated (Lenore in the tree, Annabel on the ground) and even if they don't really know each other... for now
