266 | Roundtabling
This week ‘tis just Jonesy and Dale. They talk floppies and get into some casual #Q316 chat.
Primary topic this week is that there really isn’t a main topic, and it was very nice. We have a little roundtable discussion and just chat like friends. We do hope you enjoy the relaxed format. We’re just easing back into things over here while Slim enjoys a weekend at New York Comic-Con. We’ll see him back next week. Oh also, Jonesy’s use of the term Marvellenial™ is his use alone and does not reflect the opinion of the rest of the show haha. That’s our Jonesy.

Two hundred episodes, my gosh.
We’re recording #200 at the end of April and we want you to be a part of the process, beb. We want you to choose the book club that we talk about on that very episode.
Just imagine it: Jonesy stumbling over the synopsis for the book you chose. Backpeddling once he hears the other hosts’s opinions. Conforming. Dale wiping his dirt all over it, getting upset that the other two don’t love it as much as he does. Throwing his hands up in the air, getting all ornery. Slim keeping his thoughts to himself until Dale and Jonesy are done gushing all over each other that way he can crush dreams out in the open. Trying to wrap up the episode early so he can get to bed/watch WWE all night long.
Vote here and become a part of Pennsylvania history. Choose the 200th episode book club for Paperkeg.
This week the hosts talk about The Outsiders, Tom’s third film.
The Outsiders is a 1983 American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton. The film follows a rivalry between two gangs, the poor Greasers and the rich Socs, only heats up when one gang member kills a member of the other.

Happy birthday, Tom. Bet you didn’t see this one coming, eh? Let’s hold hands and talk about one of Dale’s favorite movies, Cocktail. Barman poets were big in the 1980’s, we think, and so was Tom. Join us.

157 Book Club Announcement = Lone Wolf and Cub: The Assassin’s Road
My gosh, folks. Considered a true masterpiece. It appears on so many “Best Of…” lists after all, so what do the boys over at Paperkeg have to say about it? We’re getting into Lone Wolf and Cub, by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima.
“Shogunate executioner Ogami Itto is framed as a traitor by the agents from a rival clan. With his wife murdered and with an infant son to protect, Ogami chooses the path of the ronin, the masterless samurai. The Lone Wolf and Cub wander feudal Japan, Ogami’s sword for hire, but all roads will lead them to a single destination: vengeance.”
You want to talk about staying power, Lone Wolf and Cub began in 1970! We are pretty excited, not going to lie. Also, we’re not going to tell other lies - this episode is going to be ALL book club. The Assassin’s Road was nearly 300 pages, and frankly relegating that to a 15-20 minute book club segment may not do it justice.
This is all going down TONIGHT (Thursday 6/19)! Around 9:30pm est or so if you want to put any faith in what “time” really is. We’ll all be in the secret pre-order line for our Amazon Phones and then we’ll shoot on home to record this thing. Here’s to hoping Dale sounds okay, he had fried wontons for lunch so the roof of his mouth feels like a spongey ruined mess. Jonesy keeps referring to needing ch**t dia**rs so all of our breath smells of vomit and acid reflux, but that’s life with Jonesy. Slim is hungover from drinking too many PBR’s in front of his wife and son last night on some restaurant veranda. They were so miserably bored but that beer tasted oh so good on the hot day he just kept needing more and more of them haha to get by in this life. We’re all pulling for Slim and his Xbox One. You’ll get there, Slim. Slimex’s Lemonade StandTM.
Oh, and by the by, don’t forget about our Paperkeg Meetup on July 19th. It’s in Philadelphia, PA. So come on by, we’d love to chat!
Stay tuned later on for a link to our live youtube broadcast, coming via twitter or Facebook! Cheers!
156 Book Club Announcement = Sin City: The Hard Goodbye
Basin City. Corrupt, cruel, and the setting for our next Pk book club. Sin City, bebs. Frank Miller first debuted this series in Dark Horse Presents, did you know that? Now you do.
“It’s a lousy room in a lousy part of a lousy town. But Marv doesn’t care. There’s an angel in the room. She says her name is Goldie. A few hours later, Goldie’s dead without a mark on her perfect body, and the cops are coming before anyone but Marv could know she’s been killed. Somebody paid good money for this frame …”
My heavens. You have seen the movie, now strap in for the source material will ya? Dale is pretty excited to finally be reading this. Slim is excited too. That Robocop and Ric Flair shared the same tv space at one point and time in our lifetime. Jonesy is excited… to be alive. “Virginian Medical Doctor” should be a wrestling move that Robocop puts on Dick Jones of OCP Corp. Show that guy.
When are we recording this epic adventure? SUNDAY, folks. You want to get your letters in? Should be a riotous good time, ya dig? And don’t forget our Pk Meetup. THIRD ANNUAL! You believe that? Barcade in Philadelphia. July 19th. Be there (please). Dale might need a ride home lololol he can’t control himself haahaha so funny a problem to have. letters at paperkeg dot com!
