This is why I despise people who ship Ivyfern and make them lesbians. It doesn't really fix the issue at all. The issue is that he promised to step up and be the primary caretaker. He did not do that. Making him a girl for being slightly more playful with his kids feels both like a weird misogynistic stereotype, and completely disregards what people are actually mad about in their relationship. Sigh.
TBH i wish ivypool was as antagonistic a force as ppl make her out to be. i think a character thats desperate for the relationship she used to have with her sister but punishes her for not acting like the version of her in her head and scorns her for leaving is really compelling. the problem is 1. people treat that interpretation like ivypool should be killed with rocks and 2. thats literally not what is written or intended
This reminds me of people and Morningkit tbh. Like Morningkit is acting how people portray Ivypool. She only loves her sister when Moonpaw does what she wants. She goes out of her way to harm her sister as a punishment for not being what SHE wants, and actively tried to make her live miserable so she can have control.
And people LOVE Morningkit. Haha funny dead baby being evil.
And the they turn around and interpret Ivypool the exact same way, and hate her for it! She didn't even do that! She was an angsty and traumatized teenage girl who felt her sister growing removed and distant from her when that was her main support system!
