Hello! I love your comics and I hope you won't mind me asking about your process: do you draw on a larger format than what will be used for printing? For example, if the print is to be in A5 format, do you draw your comics on A4? When painting, do you take bleed sections into account right away? When you make thumbnails, do you make them in a specific format? Are there any templates?

⭐️ We draw our pages at a size that’s slightly larger than the printed pages. (If it’s too large you may loose details when printed.) Usually, we add 2 or 3 centimeters. But it depends on the look you want: We like to keep sketchy lines and we don’t want our pages to look too clean (which may happen if you reduce them too much when printing).
⭐️ Some publishers have standard formats so they give us templates and we use them to create our pages.
⭐️ Sometimes, there are no templates available. So we browse through our comic book collection (or we go at the bookstore) and we look at the different formats available to create our own templates.
⭐️ When painting, we paint over bleed sections indeed. We try to cover a larger area than necessary, just in case.
⭐️ We do our thumbnails using the same template than the final pages but smaller. When they’re done, we just have to print them at a larger size and use a light table to draw the final pages.
