This year I decided to go quite all out for my mother for Christmas, because she so deserves it, and do more than the one token gift from a teenager that is kind of common place now. So, I ordered her two gifts online and had a bit of a kerfuffle with the courier because ASOS said it had been despatched but the courier said they hadn’t received it. That parcel has eventually arrived.
However, I decided that wasn’t enough and ordered a pretty pricey lipstick as an extra gift for her. The courier sent me a text to say it had been delivered - it hadn’t. They delivered it to someone who is not me.Â
Now, this person has signed for my parcel. They signed for it. This means the driver asked if they were [insert my name] and this person said yes. It is not their parcel.
I am genuinely confused as to how someone can hear that a driver is trying to give them a parcel that clearly isn’t for them, and they can take it? If it was a confused moment and they genuinely intended on returning it themselves, then fine, but if a driver has said a name that isn’t yours or you see that the parcel doesn’t have your address then how can you take it?Â
I can’t get over how someone could do that, especially at Christmas time. You’d have to be such a selfish, low person honestly.Â
The driver is trying to get my parcel back for me, but the fact that this person has signed for my parcel doesn’t really give me a good inclination.Â
This log sounds so whiny but I’m just shocked that people would do that and not try to get in contact or return it.Â
So the message of this log is please, especially at Christmas, don’t be a dick. This season is about giving, not stealing, and, however bad or tempting the impulse is, please think about the person you are going to be affecting. Your actions have consequences, we all play a part in society, so please don’t prey on the giving attitude of others.
(I will hopefully put a positive update in a future log, I’m very much hoping they give it back and it was a simple mistake, because otherwise I will be reporting it for the theft that it is.)
