it’s awesome how we have unlimited chances to become a better version of ourselves

#144. Cheap gas
Things have been difficult lately. Surprisingly affordable gas is enough to make me feel blessed.

#142. Blood by Choice
My cousins and I have not always been so close. We didn’t share common interests as teenagers, and there was always a bit of tension between us. One liked to feel in charge, I had too much pride to let someone else tell me what to do. We often got frustrated with each other, angst boiling over, misunderstandings barring us from forgiving each other. I used to think that if we weren’t related, I would have no reason to even be friends with them.
Thankfully, as we’ve gotten older, our pride has trickled down into puddles that we stomp on. We see each other with new eyes, and we choose to love each other. We show up for each other. We sacrifice for each other. The past is washed away with today’s sun shower. We choose to be each other’s best friend.
It’s not often you get to choose your blood family. I’m thankful I got to choose mine.
Even amidst the chaos.

will i ever feel fulfilled? yes. i have felt fulfilled before. i will feel fulfilled again. will i ever be content? yes. i have been content before. i will be content again. will i ever be happy? ecstatic? overcome with joy? will i ever feel surrounded by love? supported? encouraged? will i ever feel proud? will i ever feel hopeful? will i ever feel confident in myself? will i ever feel optimistic about my future? yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. my present is not my eternity.

A part of me healed on this trip. I feel stronger and happier than ever before. The Lord provided safety and joy and gave me a new love for His mighty creation. Then sings my soul. 🏜
