Point sublime, gouache on three wood panels. The centerpiece was painted plein air, left and right panels were finished later using the center + photos for reference.

(I actually like left the best, Grand Canyon just doesn't feel right without those big iconic coconino sandstone buttes)

July 25, 2026 - Buff-fronted Quail-Dove or Costa Rican Quail-Dove (Zentrygon costaricensis) These quail-doves are found in mountain forests in Costa Rica and western Panama. Though little is known about their diet, they forage on the ground in leaf litter alone or in pairs, probably feeding on fruits, seeds, and insects. One of their nests has been described, a flat platform made of twigs, rootlets, moss, and liverworts in a tall shrub with a single nestling.
