Double Standards

This is actually a redraw of an older traditional piece. It was originally a vent art, but I was having a lot of fun making this version.

I use Anakin/Vader for my vent arts a lot. He’s just fun to draw, and it feels less weird than actually drawing myself. Plus, I like that he’s obviously physically disabled, which makes my messages a little easier to show. Also, prosthetics are cool.

If you can’t read the words: the top says “you’re never doing enough” and the bottoms says “you’re so successful, you don’t need help.”

These two statements are purposefully contradictory, and you can imagine them coming from the same person or from different people. (I imagine that it’s Palpatine saying both, and he knows that they’re contradictory. He just wants to mess with Vader’s mind) I feel like even though most people don’t go through what he has gone through, being expected to do more but not be assisted in doing that is a pretty relatable experience.

there are also some more personal thoughts behind this piece, but I don’t feel like sharing them. I’ll leave it up to speculation.
