What frustrates you the most about Alicent's character?
Let me paint you a scene:
A medieval noblewoman with 0 life skills sells out her entire faction (including her sons) to the enemy, she did this with no demands other than the wish to “live free”.
Breath of fresh air right? For once we can have a selfish mother instead of a benevolent one, a woman who would sell her own kids to Satan rather than the sacrificial Madonna constantly shown on our screens. She’s also incredibly stupid which adds to her character’s uniqueness; here we have a woman who will either die of poverty within a month because as I said she has 0 life skills or spend the rest of her life at the mercy of the people who committed the egregious crime of kinslaying her infant grandson. All done with 0 repercussion.
To this day not a single defender of 2x08 can explain to me why Alicent thinks she, Helaena and Jaehaera are safer at the mercy of Daemon Targaryen than her own family.
I do believe Alicent Hightower will be the first Westerosi to receive the Darwin Award 👍🏽.

Now as a fan of book!Alicent am I furious at the bastardisation of her character? Yes, but seeing as they’ve been disrespecting her since Season 1 my expectations weren’t that high to begin with 🤷🏽♀️.
Nevertheless like I said, a woman selfish to the point of stupidity would’ve been fantastic writing. I’d hate the changes forever but still interested to see where this storyline takes us.
What I don’t appreciate however is how the writers are trying to convince us not only is Alicent a hero for selling out her entire family but this is also a politically sound decision simply because she’s handing Rhaenyra everything she wants on a silver platter.
The same Rhaenyra btw who never punished Daemon for B&C, and instead demanded the deaths of more Green men to avenge Luke.
And that’s what it ultimately comes down to, 2x08 was written with the sole intention for Black stans to view Alicent as one of us rather than the Green’s ringleader.
The season finale and every interview C&H have given since is nothing more than a begging plea of desperation.
Pleeeeeeeease Rhaenyra fans! Please accept Alicent Hightower! Look at how she has given you everything you want! Pleeeeeeeeease finally love and accept her the way you do Rhaenyra Targaryen!!! 😭😭😭
I really do love it for them that all this has done is turn a lot of Alicent’s original fans against her 😃.
So it’s not frustration I feel for Alicent but more irritation that C&H are insulting the intelligence of myself and the audience in general because for some inexplicable reason they’re desperate for people to see her as one of the Blacks.
