Wow folks. 20 years of pokémon. Where did the time go. Let’s look over some of the landmark moments in this venerable franchise where you yell at fake dogs

1994 - Earthbound aka MOTHER 2 released. Rookie game designers Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori are struck with inspiration while playing - what if this, but slightly worse in every way? The duo begin work on their pitch to Nintendo senior management immediately

1995 - Tajiri and Sugimori lay out their ambitious plan for a monster-collecting RPG to Nintendo executives. The concept is heavily inspired by Tajiri’s childhood hobby of bug collecting and Sugimori’s pet cat that could speak in the voice of a man. Nintendo OKs the idea, on the condition that its name be changed to “Pocket Monsters” [as opposed to Sugimori’s original pitch of “Bastard Insects”]

1996 - Pokémon Red and Pokémon Japan Is King Fuck To Western Devils are released in Japan. These would later be renamed Red and Blue for international release

1996-2016 - fanbase fucking milked  

1997 - That one episode that gave those kids seizures

2000 - Owners of game boy-to-game boy color link cables afforded enormous social capital

2001 - First adult to buy a pokémon game shunned and exiled by his home village

2003 - I get more into Beyblades

2006 - Tensions run high in Game Freak as developers try to think of a way to increase the pokémon series’ profile in the wake of the of flagging sales numbers and reduced cultural relevance. It is unanimously decided to give the male protagonist of the next game a really stupid hat 

2011 - Guy who invented a pokémon that’s just a pile of garbage and named it “Garbador” awarded nobel prize

Inked portraits $15-20(depending on complexity): No color, Black or brown ink. Portraits, group shots, Small comics. additional 3 dollars per character. clean inked lines not filled/no shading.  Full body images 2 dollar extra! 4 dollars if multiple characters are apply.
