“Yes, I know. I get that. It’s good to be competent in more than just obliviating.” What would his uncle say about him riling up a coworker during his first week of work? ‘You must be more careful, John. You’re going to get yourself killed.’ He could hear him already.
“But, don’t you see…” He leaned in to whisper in her ear. “There are people here that you think you can trust, but will turn on you in a single instant if they get the tiniest piece of information about you. That singular piece of information that you must bury deep within yourself and never bring to mind.” Taking a step back, he cocked his head to the side ever so slightly as he gauged her reaction to the comments. “I can, um, give you some names of people that I don’t completely trust, if you’d like. Sorry for the mind experiment. I think I got a little sidetracked with it.”
And just like that, Attwater lost her cool. She didn’t even bother grabbing her wand but instead hurled her fist forward and collided it with his face. Most of the time Marjorie was able to hold things in and keep her cool, head down and attention elsewhere. Only every once in awhile would something really hit her and cause the woman to lose her ability to hold things in. Apparently, this man knew just the thing that her ticked her, pushed her well over the edge.
“Next time, just...be quiet.” She warned him, eyes giving a slight role as she took some steps back. Marje didn’t even give a shake of her hand as if it had hurt, simply flashed him a stoic yet warning look.
