Right? It’s kind of a shame, but at least it was nice to see everyone coming together for something, for once. It’s hard to beat a Chambers family cookout since the art was practically perfected, but some of these came pretty damn close.
Especially considering the past year, I’m sure. What were your family cookouts like?

This was an amazing day to be in our nation’s capital, able to say thank you to so many wonderful servicemen and women in person. Not to mention, the amount of cookouts I attended was absolutely ridiculous.
If it weren’t for school being closed, I actually would have forgotten that it was even a holiday. What you just said reminds me of the fact that too many people ignore what Memorial Day is really about. But, how were those cookouts?

WILLA: Well, you're the best. And I'll make it up to you over a coffee or drinks whenever you have time.
PIPER: How's tomorrow?

WILLA: I suppose.
WILLA: I'm sorry for unloading so much on you, I'm sure you've already got enough on your plate.
PIPER: That's what friends are for.
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: A little bit. Apparently, I can't help it.
PIPER: That's to be expected.
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: He's got this new job as a bodyguard. I'm pretty sure he's bound to end up in trouble sooner rather than later.
PIPER: I take it you're worried?
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: Who knows, maybe I will soon. Him dying would not be helpful at this moment, so he better stay alive. Although god knows what trouble he's getting himself into now so nothing should come as a surprise.
PIPER: What do you mean by trouble?
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: Not identical, but I see how the feeling would be similar. But at least you got free of it, right? Well... no. He's one confusing sob.
PIPER: I did, but it appears you haven't yet followed my lead. Not that I think Aiden should die, but I wish I could help pull you out from under him.
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: Are you talking about your late husband? It's so difficult, it's like he's got me under some spell, and I assure you, he wants to break it as much as I want to, otherwise he'd be with me right now. I have a feeling I am about this. For sure.
PIPER: I am, though I know the situations aren't identical. Are you certain that's the case?

Wow, you must have had a really good group of kids, if that’s the case. I’ll see if I can work some magic, mmhmm.
Not all of them, but the really great ones make up for the scoundrels. That would be so fascinating. I’m so excited!

WILLA: Right now I can say yes, but I haven't heard from him in a while and I'm sure that answer will change as soon as he strolls back into my life. Something tells me he wouldn't even dream of not having you. Right? I don't know how we did it, but I suspect it's because you're super understanding and I'm not hung-up on Scott
PIPER: I remember what it's like for someone to have that sort of hold on you. It's difficult to break. I hope you're right. Oh, yes, those two things are definitely helpful.

WILLA: I don't know anymore. I can't say I've done a lot of trying. Well, that's good, maybe you can eventually find a place that works for both of you. And luckily for you, Scott's one of those men you can talk things through which is important.
PIPER: Are you ready to try? Because it's okay if you aren't. That is the dream right there, if he'll have me. You know, you'd think it'd be awkward being friends with my boyfriend's ex, and yet..
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: Which is so sad. What about you, would you consider moving? And does he even know where he'd want to go?
PIPER: Only if you can't move on from it. Can you? I don't know, maybe, depending on where to and what the school system there is like. I don't think he does, no. It seems like a distant thought right now, so I'm probably getting ahead of myself.
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: I don't know anymore. I'm so tired of fighting with him. Maybe love's just not enough. What makes you say that?
PIPER: Sometimes it really isn't. I know he doesn't want to stay in Chicago forever.
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: I'm starting to be, the more I think about it. If you mean Aiden, we haven't talked much lately, I think we're in one of our cooling down periods. Scott's a great guy like that, and having him to lean on would save you from resorting to things like this, I'm sure.
PIPER: How do you feel about that part? He is, although I hope I'm not holding him back.
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: It is. And I'd actually be able to make a decent sum of money that would go towards taking care of these debts.
PIPER: Well, if you're okay with it, then I guess I don't see a problem, unless there's someone in your life who'd hate it. Like Scott would probably kill me for it.
TEXT ✉ PIPER
WILLA: Right? It was starting to feel like she was never going to think any better of her situation.
WILLA: No, no, I'm okay, it's nothing to be worried about. I think. It's just that, well, money's been tight, what with the hospital bills and everything, and I've been trying to come up with a way to make more, and I was talking to a co-worker at a bar when this woman approached me and asked me if I'd date people for money, like an escort. No sex, just dating and company. And... I'm actually considering it.
PIPER: I can imagine.
PIPER: Well, that's... an interesting proposition. It is legal, right?
