how was monaco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO FUN wow okay various thoughts :

1) I only went to the track Friday bc Saturday and Sunday were too expensive, but we had an awesome view of Rascasse and the straight after. Hadjar crashed like right in our eyeline. I really enjoy being at the track even though it’s kind of a production so this was very fun for me

2) soooo many people who clearly hadn’t known what to expect walking around GA in skirts and heels. For anyone who might go to one: GA at an F1 race is an ATHLETIC ATTIRE EVENT. EVEN MONACO. You are standing or sitting on the ground for hours at a time in the direct sun. You are using porta potties and not the nice kind. It is not glamorous. Wear sneakers.

3) we watched quali at a bar in menton which is just outside Monaco. Very low stress and lovely. Train back was nuts once we passed through Monaco and everyone got on

4) we watched the race in Nice and then went into Monaco for the parties in the streets after. It was honestly really amazing. You walk the track and see all of Monte Carlo and it is just….sickening and kind of awe inspiring to see the wealth. Walking past the yachts on the marina was nuts. And then they turn the straight before Rascasse into a big block party with DJs and beer gardens and gogo dancers. And all the team mechanics stand around in the pitlane openly ogling the gogo dancers’ butts which was very funny

Oh ETA 5) I said this to some people already but the vibe re: Kimi win was honestly….kinda weird. People weren’t excited about it and I was one of the only people I saw wearing merc gear. Talking to ppl about the race all anyone wanted to discuss was Hamilton’s podium—which makes sense as Monaco is Charles/Tifosi territory but the vibes bordered on anti-Kimi/anti-Merc at times. Idk what the means and it could be very specific to Monaco do take with a grain of salt.

I did not see any F1 people of note outside from my Rear Window spying on the pit lane on Friday. I assume they were all having sex with each other someplace or another
