Launched my official website to kick off the new year! It’s still in development but I promised myself that I would have my site up and running last month. This will be my medium to share all my design work. Happy New Years! It’s going to be on helluva year.
Lately, I’ve been using Instagram as a medium to share my sketches and projects. A long overdue attempt at being more public with my work. Check it out if you have a second!
This particular sketch was inspired by a conversation that I had with an old mentor. We were talking about industrial design as a profession and as a discipline. The discipline goes back thousands of years to when humans created the first stone hand tools. I sketched this page while reflecting on that conversation and decided to combine the idea of ancient stone tools with modern materials and grips.

Note To Self.
Design is very much about filtering through crap.
Whether it be your professors, peers or even people you look up to, there's so much...stuff that's told to you about design on a regular basis.
Work hard. Work a lot. Work intelligently. That's just the basics. Remember to be honest with yourself. Learn to go with your gut feeling.
Take a step back. You have a good eye. Don't let it get muddled up by other shit.
no sleep this week.
It probably means something when your studio professor/the head of the Industrial Design department comes up to you after studio and tells you that you work too hard and that it's okay for you to take it easy because your work is already good.
It's been a long week.

This is how I see it. Architects are like the ballet, classical dancers of design. Industrial designers are like the bboys and fucking street dancers of design.

In a more collective society we realize, from the inside, that our own well being is deeply tied to the well-being of others. Danger is shared. Pain is shared. Joy is shared. Achievement is shared. Houses are shared. Food is shared. Ubuntu asks us to open our hearts and to share.

It's safe to say that 95% of us were kids when we started breaking. That's good. That's the way it should be. But as we grow older and mature, it becomes more than a dance. I love how he puts it.
"...carry the architecture of that design that you created, that brain and heart into the other elements of your life."
I couldn't have said it better myself.
How the hell is it already 1AM. It was like 1PM like 5 minutes ago.
I’ve had 3 cups of coffee today.

The world is a sneaky place, but it can be kind of fun if you can figure it out.
