He stuffed his hands deep into the pockets of his jeans, standing with low shoulders as he looked around the place. “Only here as a checkup. Make sure you haven’t gone off the deep end.”
Enzo shook his head, preferring to go without any java in his system. “You look like you need it more than me.”
"I have tea." She noted with a raise of her brow. She looked him up and down. He appeared more casual than she'd been used to seeing him. 'Like you care...' she wanted to mutter, as far as going off the deep end. He was probably there by obligation, orders from Sal or Angelo or some such a thing. At least in her mind, he would not have been there otherwise. But, she kept to her own.
"I'm fine." No she wasn't. "Josiah is asleep, people are filtering in and out. The paparazzi have kept their distance. My security is in tip top shape, anyone who isn't welcome will not get passed...so you can tell Sal or Angelo that I'm fine." The bags beneath her eyes, usually concealed by makeup, were easily seen. No foundation or concealor upon her face, fresh-faced, sun-kissed, rosy cheeks. Cheeks that had been stained with tears hours prior to Enzo's arrival. The other side of her, the selfless side, however, wanted to know how he was doing. "Have you eaten?" There. That was her way of saying 'I hope you're doing well.' She couldn't come out and say it, or ask.
