Audrey Tabard shuffled through the papers on her desk before finding the manilla file that held what she was looking for. She was running a bit later than sheâd intended and told herself it was now time to hurry. It was her own fault though, sheâd stayed up too late with her thoughts and theyâd made her dreams so vivid sheâd continued to wake up throughout the ungodly hours of the night and earlier morning. Sheâd tried to conceal the dark circles under her eyes with her makeup and boost her energy with some coffee, but there was no time to do anything else.
Donning her coat she grabbed her flat keys and headed out the door, down the stairs, and out onto the London streets. It was morning and the air was cool, fog still hanging like a blanket in the air and giving it an almost moist feeling. The sky was clouded over and rather drab looking, but the weather report from the other day had stated that the skies had the possibility of turning blue later in the afternoon. Audrey jogged to the bus stop and got on. It wasnât a terribly long way to The London Times building, but the bus saved her time, especially when she was in a bit of a rush.
Making it to the office finally, she knocked quickly on her editor, Benâs, door, peeked inside, flashed him a quick smile at his desk, and headed off to where she was supposed to be five minutes ago. Opening the door, she sat down at the table across from the stranger and offered a gentle smile. âHello. Sorry for any delay.â she told them, blue eyes bright in the harsh light of the room. âLook, I know this canât be easy for you.â Audrey began, sitting down the file in front of her and taking off her coat. âBut I need to ask you a few things about that robbery you witnessed. We know you werenât involved andâŚwe know you saw the shooter. Youâre the only witness left and Iâm sure you want the police to be able to catch him as much as I want to get the facts to the public. So Iâll kindly suggest that you cooperate with me and just answer the questions so we can be done, ok?â

Muse A and Muse B were always together as children, surprising no one when their friendship bloomed into romance. Two people destined to be together forever until tragedy took Muse A too soon. For years, Muse B tries to move forward, slowly coming to terms with Muse Aâs death. And after four years, they think theyâre finally making progress, until they see Muse A standing outside in the darkness, looking in at them. Muse B thinks theyâre seeing things again, falling back into sadness, until there is a knock on the door and Muse A is standing there in front of them, very much real and very much back from the dead. Looking the same as they did four years ago, Muse A has no idea what happened.Â
They both have to come to terms with this development. Muse A trying to figure out how theyâve come back and why, as well as what they are now. Undead? Resurrected? A Ghost? And Muse B is living in fear that this is still another trick of the mind and with a blink their love will be nothing but a distant memory again.
// I am officially back in action for real this time. Please like this for a random para starter or come to my askbox and we'll plot something more specific. It'll be fun, I promise.
Ok ok I'm going to try to be more active now. I was in a play and had a ton of things going on. I promise to be more active now. I kept thinking about Audrey.
I want to apologize for being a jerk and randomly disappearing for such a long time. It happens. Also I'd still like to write with anyone interested, it's just a pain dealing with the reblogging thing and I can't get xkit.
// Mercififul heavens I havenât been on in a long time. I havenât forgotten. Things are just very busy and that reblog update is so tedious. Iâm going on semi-hiatus. I wonât leave permanently. Iâm just very busy with life and school and my dog died yesterday and just wow Iâm sorry guys.
// Iâm really sick today, but Iâll get some more stuff done soon I promise.
New Neighbors | +audrey-tabard
Despite his little panick attack earlier when he saw the clock in Audreyâs apartment, Matthew arrived at work early and placed his briefcase on the desk. He looked around, only to find that there was just one other co-worker there who just happened to be the only one he hadnât really clicked with. He sighed. Usually heâd try to make small talk, but this guy was the type of person who liked to delve into his work and when someone tried to interrupt he would get pissy. Matthew sat down and resumed his last activity from yesterday. The day went by surprisingly quick, and he got more work done than he had anticipated when he left the apartment block. He didnât constantly drift off into thoughts, it might be because now that he had talked a bit further with Audrey she seemed a little less of a mystery.Â
When the work day was over around 17:30, Matthew packed up his things and left for the bus stop near the office building. He frowned when he noticed the heavy rain, holding his briefcase up in the air to shelter himself from it. He rushed onto the bus and went home, arriving with a rain-soaked coat. He headed up to his apartment, pushing the door open and taking his coat off instantly to prevent himself from causing a pool of water to flood the floors. He hung it out to dry on the heater and walked into the living room area, looking around for his brother. He was nowhere to be found though. Matthew stood there baffled for a moment, had Jack taken his advice and finally gone out to do something? It didnât seem very likely, but he was unpredictable so maybeâŚÂ
Matthewâs thoughts were interrupted when he heard footsteps in the hallway and then the sound of two voices laughing. One of them he recognized to be his brotherâs, the other sounded like a girlâs voice. Oh crap, Matthew thought, instantly rushing over to the door to try and lock them out. He was too late. Just when he wanted to grab the door lock, it opened and he was greeted with the sight of his brother holding a random woman under his arm. Both of them looked tipsy and as Matthew stumbled backwards to avoid the stench of alcohol they carried with them, Jack grinned and lead the girl into the apartment. âOh no, no no noâ, Matthew started, holding up his hands as though he was trying to convey that this was absolutely unacceptable. He didnât want his brother bringing random people into his apartment. Jack didnât respond and just shoved past Matthew, leading the girl into the living room area while they chatted away. Matthew stood there dumbfounded and quickly began to get angry. âIâm serious Jack, get her out of here, I donât have time for this crapâ, he hissed, grabbing his brotherâs arm and pulling him into the hallway to have a serious talk with him. âJack Iâm not kiddingâ, he said with a scowl on his face, something that went unnoticed by Jack who just shrugged and gave Matthew a sheepish grin. âYou said go out and do somethinâ, I went out and got myself somethinâ to doâ, he stated.Â
Matthew brought a hand to his forehead in annoyance. âThis is my apartment though, you donât even live here. Iâm gonna call the landlord if you donât get her the fuck out of hereâ, he threatened. Jack playfully patted Matthew on the shoulders, turning him around and pushing him towards the front door. âRelax, Twitch, sheâll only be here for like half an hour, maybeâ, he mused, opening the door and pushing an utterly confused Matthew into the hallway. The door slammed shut as Matthew turned around and he promptly started banging his fists on it, demanding Jack open up or heâd call the cops. Anyone watching the scene from afar would have thought he was some kind of maniac trying to break in when really it was his own apartment that had just been taken over by his most obnoxious family member. âShit!â, Matthew said as he gave the door an angry kick, turning around to head downstairs and ask the landlord for a spare key. He froze when he looked right into the face of Audrey, who had undoubtedly just come back from her work today.
Audreyâs eyes widened a bit as she came up the stairs that led to her flat. A funny, half grin was plastered across her lips as she came closer, spying him pounding at a door. For a second she thought it was hers and questioned why he would possibly be doing such a thing, but as she grew closer it became apparent that it was, in fact, his own door. A hand reached up for her to tuck a few stray locks of damp hair behind her ear that had managed to fall directly in her line of sight. âMatthew,â she began, more concern in her voice than sheâd expected there to be. âis everything all right?â
It was funny to her that she had thought about seeing how he was doing and now here he was in a situation that looked much less than ideal. It was a bit ironic really. It was a bit chilly in the hall and she reached into her pocket, as always, to find her key. âIâm not entirely sure whether it would be polite of me to ask why youâre angrily swearing at your own apartment door, but I will admit Iâm a bit curious.â Audrey could help the grin that had spread further across her face. It just seemed so odd to her. It certainly wasnât something she saw everyday.
Finding the keys, she pulled them out of her rather soggy pocket with a little jingle and took a step toward her door, fitting the correct one into the lock and turning it. Audrey glanced at Matthew again, narrowing her eyes a bit. He looked kind of...well, helpless. âYouâre welcome to come in here for a bit.â she offered, attempting to be friendly. âIf this has to do with your brother then Iâd be happy to pick the lock on your door for you.â Audrey added as an afterthought. She didnât even think twice that it might sound a bit strange that she knew how to pick a lock. It had been something sheâd taught herself over the years and it had come in useful more often than one would expect.

Mightier than the Sword || Audrey & Jude
Jude tucked his notepad back into his pocket upon hearing her response, he wont be needing to jot down an order, it sure made his life a bit easier. Jude was taken aback by Audreyâs invitation,. He wasnât used to being invited to his own friendsâ homes, let alone a near strangerâs. But she was so nice, there was a warmth about her. Something that convinced him that she was a very kind person, someone he could easily get along with.
Writers were an uncommon breed, and writers who wanted to sit down and chat with other writers were even harder to find, and Jude knew this. He was in a constant search for someone who shared his passion and was willing to befriend him. So really, going to Audreyâs flat for dinner sounded like a fantastic plan, regardless of the fact that he had only met her a few minutes before.
âThat,â He said. âThat sounds like a lovely idea.â He smiled with a nod of his head. âI would really like that.â He was out of his element and more than a little awkward, and his showed. He tugged at the hem of his shirt and bit the inside of his lip, his ears were warm and undoubtedly turning some shade of red, like they often did when he got nervous. âI could give you my number, so you could text me or call me or whatever with the details. Iâm free pretty much every night aside from Thursdays, which is when I have the late shift here.â
She peered at him curiously, glad when he said he would be interested in visiting her to talk about writing. It was nice to find others who shared her passions. She was always intrigued by the writing styles of others and remained eager to learn about how one would approach a writing topic differently than another. âOh, good.â she grinned, nodding her head a bit at him. Audrey really hadnât expected him to say yes. It had been a spontaneous decision to ask him, but the outcome pleased her greatly.
âDefinitely.â she added at his comment about getting his phone number. Audrey reached into the bag beside her and pulled out her mobile phone, passing it to him. âYou can just add yourself as a new contact and I can text you later to set something up.â The young woman suggested, tilting her head a bit. Audrey noticed him grow a bit red and gave a shy smile. He hoped he wouldnât be too nervous around here, though his feelings likely reflected her own.
âWhat kinds of things do you like to eat? I can make time to make something myself.â she asked. Audrey really didnât have guests too often. Occasionally a neighbor or coworker would come for an evening, but she always liked getting ready for someone to come over. She liked the preparation, making sure everything was neat and orderly, she liked making food sheâd never make for herself because she was just too busy, and she liked waiting for the knock on the door of her flat. It made her feel...wanted.
