And then he’d probably try to convince Amy to fake her death with him so they can all live happily ever after with a thousand names that will be decided by what fandom craziness the two of us are into at that time. Everyone is alien, the planet is invaded by boulders, the Truth is out there and we giggle while shipping everyone with GA. Then they die and get reincarnated for more names and madness, Jane Bond, and Rip Hunter.
On the one hand, i’m amused at the joke. On the other hand, I’m a librarian and this shelving is horrifying.
Well, no shelving system is without fault.
Parents Picking Their Child's Name: Eh, I like the way it sounds. Sure.
Writers Picking Their Character's Names: What genre is it? How old are they? Active or passive? Blood type? Country of origin? Is it a family name? What does the name mean? Is it pretentious? Is it not pretentious enough? Can it be used as a metaphor? What position was the planet to the stars at the exact moment of their birth? Is the name gay enough?
This video is very important, especially when you’re writing or maybe even drawing out fight scenes. Many don’t seem to realize that swords were often not the primary weapon and see spears more as a weaker weapon. This YouTube channel is actually very good at helping to explain older medieval martial arts, mostly the sword and European fighting methods, but very helpful nonetheless for fellow authors/artists.
This awesomely-named YouTube channel, called scholagladiatoria, is a brilliant resource for writers. Have at it!

“What is this?”
Clara threw her arms around him and sighed with relief. “You’re the best. Better friend than I ever could have hoped for.” Maybe it was her hormones, but she couldn’t help the tears that followed. “If I’m really going to stay here longer, I’ll need to set up a corner of my room for the baby..”
Rory was a bit surprised by the tears, but he rubbed her back quietly. “You’ll call me if you need to move anything heavy by yourself, right? I can give you a hand when I’m home.” He was happy that Clara had decided to stay - he would have missed her had she left, he’d grown so accustomed to having her home with him over the last few months.

The act had been harmless, really. Besides, people were supposed to be as wild as they could the night before their wedding, weren’t they. The Doctor showed up once more, took her away. She told him that they had to be back by the morning. She had…plans. Well the one adventure turned into two. Then turned into three. Then it just happened. It felt like hours, not years had been passing. She heard her name being called, she turned and the next thing she felt was pain. Indescribable pain. The Doctor managed to get whatever it was off and she collapsed in his arms. Battered, bruised and weak. Cuts up and down her arms and legs, clothes ripped. Not how a bride should look on her wedding day. “Rory..” She murmured before her eyes clothes. The Doctor picked her up in his arms, whispering on how she needs to stay alive. He rushed her into the TARDIS and laid her down, zipping them back to Leadworth. Five years had passed between when the Doctor took Amy away on an adventure and when he carried her into the hospital. She needs help. What’s her name? Amelia Pond. That’s not possible. It’s not? How is it not? It’s her name! Amelia Pond has been missing for five years. No she hasn’t. She’s right here. The nurse got her into a room and hooked up. She told The Doctor to sit and wait in the waiting room before she left down the hall, looking around until she found him, Rory. Rory, you should really come here and see this. It’s Amy.
Alice found him on coffee break. He almost dropped the cup at her words. As it was, he hastily puts it back on the table and runs out of the staff room, nodding his thanks when she gave him the room number.
(and thanking whoever was listening that it wasn’t a trauma or surgery)
His mind was shouting She’s here she’s here she’shere as he approached the bed, taking in the cuts and bruises on her limbs, the IV sticking out of her arm, the steady beeping of the monitor reassuring him that she’s here and she’s alive alive alive alive and he choked, tearing streaming down his face as shaking fingers gently brushed red hair out of her face.
She looked the same, he realised. Cuts and bruises aside, she looked just like she did the last time he saw her, kissing her goodbye before going to his stag party. Anger flashed on his face. How dare she look so unchanged after turning his life upside down? As soon as it had come, the anger faded away, leaving crushing worry in its stead. Where have you been, he wanted to ask/ What happened to you during those five years?
He vaguely heard Alice tell him she would find someone to cover the rest of his shift. As the door closed behind her, Rory sank into the plastic chair by the bed, grasping Amy’s lifeless hand in his and bringing it to his lips for a moment, not caring that he was smearing tears on her skin.
