Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.
Anaïs Nin (via larmoyante)
like this thing if you want a starter or something yeah? Specifics to the ask.
i''ll whip them up in the morning/ before work.
My heart wants roots. My mind wants wings. I cannot bear their bickerings.
E. Y. Harburg (via paynesbay)
"..Awfully quiet today too."
There are times when it will go so wrong that you will barely be alive, and times when you realise that being barely alive, on your own terms, is better than living a bloated half-life on someone else’s terms.
Jeanette Winterson (via steinrose)
It's 2:00am, and still there's nothing better in the fridge.
He withdrew at their jabbing, face curling up in disgust as he attempted to create a distance between them even while the counter prevented it. “Oh no, far from it. I like to keep things private, If I have the option to.” Even while so visibly discontent, he continued their conversation casually, chatting with them as though he didn’t actually have a problem with their company. Like he was just playing along with their pointless banter.
Maybe it was that Roderich had gotten even less sleep than they had, having buried himself in paperwork until about an hour prior to the break-in. Not that he would have gotten much rest anyways, had he not.
"Also, I don’t recall having—at any point—let you in. Your old age must be creeping up on you.. you don’t even remember that we’re virtually the same age; though it would appear that I’m the only one aging gracefully.”
"Shy, sweetheart?"
It may have been strange but Gilbert enjoyed prodding Roderich until he showed his more lively side. Which meant endearing, cutesy pet names. Which meant, he spent extra time purposefully walking all over their opinions and feelings.
Just like how he was invading their home and eating their meager food-- Nobody else got the same treatment because in a way, Roderich was special to him.
Gilbert had never forgotten what kind of person they used to be. The years had changed them both, but to Gilbert, Roderich had gotten the worst of it. The pitiful bastard.
"Hey..."
".....................Nobody is as old as you."
Gilbert would never admit his true age and he was seriously close to flinging oatmeal at them if they started to push the issue.
“I don’t need your consent.”
"...You know, if I wasn't used to you being an archaic man, I would be offended by your obvious stupidity... You could at least take advantage of the fact.............."

No reason to visit each other. Well. When centuries of companionship, battles both physical and mental over the years and something that Georg would have loved to call a friendship - even just for the past, because it was the closest he had ever gotten to such sentiment - were no reason to at least.. well, say hello every now and then, he didn’t know anymore. But who was he to complain or criticise? Georg had never cared to pick up the phone either.
Smiling through the faint sting in his chest, the man rose from his seat, the curious gaze of two dogs following him as he went to open a gate in the fence and allow the other inside. The very moment the door was being opened, Tess was already on her paws. Ten years and still so full of life; Georg would forever be impressed with the Golden Retriever’s eternal puppy mode, even though it tended to be slightly annoying when she attempted to jump at every guest or passerby that came too close. Georg grabbed her collar before she got the chance to tackle Gilbert and pulled her aside.
"If you have some more time to waste, let me treat you to a drink. Anything you want." He shrugged. "Water, juice.. I might still have some beer as well."
Gilbert was stubborn when it came to those he associated with. Friendships and relationships, it all boiled down to the same thing. He refused to be the only one putting effort in (at least the majority of it); his ego demanded it. That was partially the reason why he kept to himself most of the time; the moment it turned out he thought more of the other than they did of him, he was gone.
That didn't mean he had a negative relationship with the person before him. That sort of thing was impossible, he still very much thought highly of them and what they had done for him. Gilbert was simply terrible at expressing gratitude.
"...No, need to bring out the works-- Something plain will do. Don't go outta' your way for me."
Even though his expression said otherwise, he couldn't accept more than a little water. He would have been honor bound to reciprocate in the most zealous way. You'd never get rid of him if you started treating him.
Gilbert cocked an eyebrow at down at the dog; they could have had a pet bear and he still wouldn't be afraid of them mauling him. He had an interesting pain tolerance after all.
Besides what kind of man cowers away from a dog? Just because Gilbert didn't have the room to get his own, didn't mean he wasn't a dog person.
"Cute dog, Just the one?"

"Serious lack of consent here."
"Of course, you of all people would think the Russians are attractive— you could’ve at least considered my interests. "
"Oh—? Then, what are your interests? .. Ahh, that’s right. How forgetful of me. No woman other than Elizaveta will do for you. Isn’t that a shame, with all things considered.”
"…..that’s not what I meant at all… I’m not going to wait around forever for her… I’m not that sappy.
Jesus, what kind of man limits himself when it comes sex— as long as they’re not disgustingly Russian and I suppose I can lower myself for an American, It doesn’t matter. ”
…
“….The fact you’re insisting makes it worse— Now it’s a triple no, I’m not going. ”
"Don’t be such a baby, Gilbert.
I didn’t think you were the type to run away so easily.”
"Of course, you of all people would think the Russians are attractive— you could’ve at least considered my interests. "
♥
"I wouldn’t judge her so quickly, if I were you.
They say that Russian women are quite the lookers.. and I’m making quite the effort to set you up here, so the least you could do is humor me.”

The heat had been wearing all of them down, and despite the thrill of the upcoming holidays Georg found himself in a state of drowsiness and lack of motivation. Not even the dogs had the will to play anymore, panting away as they rolled in the damp grass, gazing at the sky from time to time as if to see if the grey clouds announcing an upcoming storm had moved any closer already. What was he supposed to be doing today again? He didn’t remember. But maybe sitting right here in the yard, watching Tess lazily snapping at a fat bumblebee flying by, was alright for now.
Especially when it seemed like he was going to earn himself some nowadays unusual company..
"Do my eyes betray me? Gilbert, what earns me the honour? You aren’t lost, are you?" He allowed himself a soft smile, watching the other from the other side of the fence.
If there was one thing he absolutely hated, it was this hot weather. Gilbert burned easily and the glare from the sun always left him lightheaded; which was why he wasn't above spending all day cooped up inside. Thankfully, he had planned ahead and wore something light while avoiding dark colours, dressing himself casually.
He had a long way to go before he got home and had to take caution to avoid passing out from exhaustion. That added up to frequent stops for water and plenty of shade breaks; Walking was such a pain, why didn't he just leave his vehicle at the airport?
"Water... Ice... some shade-- The usual." He carelessly shrugged his shoulders as he moved closer. There was no specific reason for his visit other than to cool off. "Not like we've got a reason to visit each other, no?
....I'm on my way home, walking there to pass the time."
It was better, easier, to rely on company who he had a.. neutral standing than with someone who wouldn't hesitate to kick him to the curb.
"Nothing better to do with it."
It's 2:00am, and still there's nothing better in the fridge.
“… Well, first of all.. You broke into my house.”
He replied matter-of-factly, arms crossed over his chest in a stern, commanding manner as he stood with his back against the island counter. “Secondly: it’s been.. five— ten minutes, and I still haven’t called the police. I’d be grateful not to be in handcuffs right now, if I were you.” With that, he rolled his eyes in the direction of the bedroom. “Actually.. I have a pair on my person, if you wanted to try that out.”
"You know, spice things up a bit!”
The venom was clear in his voice as he snapped at them, though his tired appearance made it far from convincing. Wrapped in a bathrobe, which was layered on top of a rumpled wardrobe from the day prior, and with bags set deep under silver eyes.. he really wasn’t planning on doing anything at all. Rather, he didn’t have the energy to.
"Exaggerating~~"
He jabbed his spoon in their direction, annoyingly chipper for someone who only had three hours of sleep. Seeing that aggravated face energized him into continuing to be a bother; it was fun, enjoying something at their expense. Especially them.
"Not my fault you opened the door-- I only knocked once."
That was a lie and it was with a wide grin that he responded, not bothered at all by the threat of being arrested.
"Ha. I didn't peg you for the exhibitionist type."
Gilbert couldn't take them seriously dressed like that. Less so than normal.."How embarrassing would it be to be caught with a man twice my age-- I don't think I'd recover from the mortification."
