Augustus Quincey |Â Dreamscape AUÂ
Knight, Scribe & Speechwriter
josefinexgattiâ:
Family was a difficult thing for a vampire, particularly one so long-lived as Josefine. Currently, it consisted of a family of Italian witches an ocean away, people she loved dearly and had for generations but rarely actually saw; Holden, a constant for nearly a year now; and the Quincey twins. She exhaled a deep sigh and closed her eyes briefly, allowing the hug to linger for a moment before she drew away and brushed her fingertips against the side of his face. âMuch longer,â she agreed, then offered him a gentle smile as her hand dropped from her face. âDo you want to sit?â
Augustus nodded in reply to Josefineâs question, figuring heâd need to be sitting down for the conversation to come. This was one of the things August had been dreading about coming back to New York. He wasnât sure if Josefine had a hint of what happened through their sire bond, feeling his grief. Still, he had to tell her now that they were face to face. He had to tell her that Rue was dead. âA lot has happened. Iâve read about the various things that have been happening. Iâm glad to see youâre still standing.âÂ
calxrhodesâ:
Sheâd been so happy to see August at her wedding, knowing it wouldnât have been perfect had it not been for him. Sheâd closed her arms around him when he approached her, laughing at the meaning behind his words. âI couldâve handled you coming in white.â She wouldâve given him that exception. âCareful, donât let Dom hear you.â She smiled, cupping his face between her hands to take a good look at him. Of course he hadnât changed, but sometimes it sure did feel like it. âItâs good seeing you too, Auggie. I missed you.âÂ
God, had he missed that laugh. He hadnât been back in New York for long but he was already struck by all the things he had missed. Not just the people, but the city as well. Calâs laugh was definitely one of those things on that list. âIâve seen your new husband. He could run away with us. You definitely make one damn good looking couple,â Auggie retorted. He allowed Cal to study him, a small smirk on his lips that contrasted with the hint of sadness in his eyes. Something that had been there since the day Rue died. âI missed you too, fortunately, you wonât be able to get rid of me now weâll be working together.âÂ
kindlykiaraâ:
The shifter had her head stuck in papers, files, and long written notes. Her eyes almost bugging out as the words seemed to merge into each other. A sign that she was overworking herself. Which wasnât anything new at this point. She hummed hearing a familiar voice. Her head lifting to meet his frame. Kiara couldnât stop the smile from forming on her lips if she tried. âAugustâŠâ She breathed softly placing her pen down, the chair she was currently sat on making one of those awful metal again metal scraping sounds as she stood up. âCareful babe, what have I told you about your head and its possibility of exploding?â She didnât waste another moment as she moved over to him and hugged him tightly. âI missed you.â
This. This right here was the reason August had decided to return to New York. He had lived in many places over the last century and a half, but nowhere else had he made the kind of friendships he had here. Friendships that were vital now he was truly alone. âI think weâve both learned by now that there are no bounds to how big my ego can be,â August replied with a chuckle as he wrapped his arms around Kiara, holding his blonde bestie close. âI missed you too, Kitty.âÂ
Augustus Quincey , 28/165, Vampire
BIOGRAPHY
TW: Murder, Torture Mention, Emotional Torture, Kidnapping
Augustus was born into a prestigious family of hunters who were famous amongst their own. The Quinceyâs were renowned in their day, and Augustus was proud to be a part of that legacy. Following the steps of his ancestors Augustus began training as a hunter from a young age. He took the blessing at the age of thirteen alongside his twin sister Rue; who soon after became bonded with Augustus to make them a hunterâs pair. The two became formidable hunters who earned quite a name for themselves. Augustus never imagined another life for himself. He loved being a hunter and thought his future consisted of getting married and carrying on the legacy through his own children. It may have been destiny that things didnât turn out that way, or perhaps sheer dumb luck. Either way, Augustusâ life as a hunter ended at 28 years of age.
Unbeknownst to Augustus at the time, during the ceremony bonding him to his twin another spell was cast. A coven of white witches enlisted Augustusâ parents help in protecting a dangerous object infused with black magic from those who wanted to harness its dark power. After attempting and failing to destroy the object they sought a different way of protecting it. They cast a spell that would not only protect it, but would also help hide it from anyone who searched for it. To give the spell more power the coven drew strength from the bond Augustus and Rue shared as twins and a hunterâs pair. There was one drawback, bonding the spell to them meant it would only last as long as blood still flowed through their veins. As long as the twins lived the object was safe.
The truth was revealed a few years later after the death of their parents. A coven of witches who practiced black magic had been searching for the object for centuries, and had learned that the Quinceyâs were the key to finding it. Not knowing about the protection spell they started with Augustusâ parents and ended torturing them to death trying to discover its location. Having learnt nothing the coven, still seeking information, turned to the rest of the Quincey family. With no other choice, Augustus and his siblings were forced to go on the run. For a number of years they were able to outrun the witches, but eventually the coven started catching up with them. The first of the siblings to die was the youngest. The coven kidnapped him and turned him into a werewolf before tricking the twins into killing the wolf in order to protect a village. They only discovered who the werewolf was when it was too late. From that point on the Quinceyâs were slowly picked off one by one. Each death was orchestrated to cause as much pain as possible for those who remained.
After the deaths of four of their siblings the remaining three knew they had to find a way to end this before they followed the same fate. Desperate the three of them faked their own deaths, making it convincing enough that not only would the witches think they were dead, but also everyone who knew the Quincey name. Augustâs older brother changed his name and disappeared, Augustus has no idea what happened to him but hopes he was able to find happiness. Augustus and Rue made a bigger sacrifice, deciding to go one step further. They knew it was their task, their mission to ensure the objectâs safety and made the decision to become vampires. It was not easy transitioning into something theyâd been trained to kill but they knew that if they lived for an eternity the object would be protected for an eternity.
From that day forth, alongside his twin sister, Augustusâ life has been dedicated to the protection of the object. Over the past century, the Quincey family name faded into history and what once an esteemed and famed family is no longer remembered. Regularly moving from city to city, from country to country Augustus and Rue have been able to keep the object safe. Until last year, when some witches in search of the object discovered the truth about the twins. Knowing it was at risk of falling into the wrong hands Rue began researching for a way to destroy it. And she found one. August assisted Rue in destroying the object, along with the assistance of a witch whose magic was needed to help unbind the dark magic it had been infused with. What Rue hadnât told Augustus, however, is that a sacrifice was needed to destroy the object. Rue gave her own life to obliterate the object and ensure no one could ever harness its dark potential.
The loss of his twin shook Augustus to his very core; it was like losing a limb. She was his family, his confident, his best friend, and his only constant companion. For a few months after her death August became a recluse, a hermit but recently decided to return to the city. The brief time Rue and August spent in New York were some of his happiest days. The twins prospered there, began building lives, and most importantly August had built some strong friendships. No one could ever replace Rue but the need to be surrounded by those he loves and cares about has brought him back home.

HEADCANONS:
Upon returning to the city August didnât want to go back to the Frey where he had previously worked, there were too many painful memories of Rue and the stall she once ran. It was through his connections with the Rhodes family that he got a job with the police. Working for the law enforcement certainly isnât something August ever envisioned for himself, but it is a job he has flourished at. His natural charm makes him a soothing voice amongst the chaos, and Augustus rather enjoys coming up with lies to tell the public to cover up the supernatural truth.
Most nights Augustus can be found at the Sanctuary where he is a regular fighter. August has always hidden his pain well, but beneath the surface there is a lot of sadness, grief, and anger. Fighting has always been an outlet for his emotions. He may not be the most skilled fighter but August is known to be a worthy opponent regardless. August can take punch after punch, rarely backing down. His fights are usually rather brutal, and he has on occasion lost control.
August has a pet milk snake called Killian, it was his sisterâs. When she died he didnât have the heart to get rid of her beloved pet. August often finds himself talking to him, telling the snake things he would usually have told Rue.
As well as Killian, Augustus has kept all of Rueâs books. Being a massive bookworm Rue had a large collection of books, many of them first editions and rare antiques. August has never been much of a reader himself, but he has started reading them one by one, trying to get through one a month. It makes him feel closer to his twin reading the same words she once read and holding the same book she did.
Originally born Thaddeus Quincey, he originally changed his first name when Rue and August faked their deaths. Over the years he has changed his first name numerous times; usually naming himself after people he has known. The only exception being when he named himself Quinton Quincey purely for his own amusement. No longer in hiding August has considered returning to his birth name, but has decided to stick with Augustus as thatâs what his friends in New York know him as.Â
Augustus has always had a talent for learning and speaking other languages. As a hunter he was fluent in three, including his mother tongue English. As a vampire, with nothing but time, Augustus has become fluent in another four, and is learning another two. As well as English he is fluent in; Spanish, German, Russian, French, Latin, and Mandarin. He has been learning Arabic and ASL.
Choosing to become a vampire, and having time to prepare made coping with the blood lust easier for August. He struggles with his hunger, just like any vampire would, but nothing could have fully prepared him for just how strong the thirst is. However, Augustâs hunter instincts have always been stronger. Heâs never drunk blood from a human, only ever drinking from blood bags.
Augustus has re-appropriated the saying ârue the dayâ; it was a phrase his friends can often hear him use now whenever he has to do something that Rue excelled at, or is just a remotely Rue like thing to do. For August, it means to seize the day, to conquer it and has nothing to do in the slightest with regret.
For over a century Augustâs life has been dedicated to the same thing, and now he no longer has that mission he has been feeling a little lost. To feel that gap Augustus has started hunting again, something he hasnât done since he became a vampire. Whatever he is now August figures he can still protect people from the supernatural who wishes them harm.

âHey, Blondie,â Augustus commented, peeping his head around the door to the room where Kiara worked. âI know youâve been dying to meet your new handsome coworker everyoneâs been talking about, and I thought Iâd end your suffering,â He commented whilst pulling himself up and sitting on one of the cool metal tables. âSadly we donât work in the same department so we need to have at least three work lunch dates a week.â @kindlykiara

Claire immediately frowned. How many years had it been since someone had dared call her stupid and didnât have a rock come flying at them? Luckily for this one there were no rocks around. âNeither.â she said abruptly. âDid you need something or did you just merely want to waste my time?â She felt her anger starting to boil over and had to take a deep breath in and out to calm down. It wasnât like her to get worked up so easily. Even if he was a vampire she still had no place to talk to him like that. âIâm sorry I didnât mean it like that. Iâm just not in the best of moods. I shouldnât have taken it out on you. That was childish.âÂ
Despite the aggressive retort, Augustus seemed unfazed. Having witnessed his sister tear people apart with her tongue, most insulting, or angry comments bounced off of him. âI wasnât calling you stupid, sorry if it seemed like I was insulted you. Thatâs just what someone I knew would have said,â August explained, realising that she must have thought he insulted her. âNothing wrong with being childish, in fact, I try to be childish at least once a day. Makes life more fun. Sounds like you could do with being a bit childish to lift your spirits.âÂ
âHey, Mama Vamp,â August said in greeting, pulling his sire into a hug. It had genuinely made him happy to find out Josefine was still living in New York. She was the closest thing to family Augustus had left, and if anyone else could possibly understand the pain of losing Rue it was her. Rue may not have ever admitted but she did love Josefine, and the two of them shared the same sire bond August and Josefine did. âIt feels like itâs been a lot longer than a year, huh?â @josefinexgatti

âLast minute? Yes, maybe. But youâre invited over to mine for Shabbat dinner! Seven oâclock! Text me with any questions, okay? Do you have my number? I just have to run. Got my challah in the oven! Youâll come, right? Iâm trying to make it a weekly thing.â Shira pressed a hand to the otherâs elbow, smiling hopefully.
August was a little surprised by the invitation, considering he has only met the brunette half an hour ago. Still, the offer seemed genuine and like fun. âIâm not really much of a foodie,â August replied, smiling at the private joke. Of course, he wasnât much of a foodie considering he didnât need food for survival. âBut I canât say Iâve been to a Shabbat dinner before, and Iâm all for new experiences. Iâm in!âÂ

Claireâs anxiety had shot through the roof. She had been up all night reading various texts trying to find anything about the Ouroboros. There has to be some record of them in history whether they went by that name or other. She just needed to clear her head too many thoughts invaded her mind. Not realizing the time she stepped out for some fresh night air.
Sensibility had never been in Augustâs wheelhouse. Hell, Rue had always been the sensible one. Not having her around really did feel like he was missed half of himself. Without her, it was hardly surprising he was taking a late night walk. Sure, he was a vampire which meant he was safer than most, but New York City was hardly the safest place for supernaturals. Especially those who allied themselves with the originals families. August wasnât exactly an ally but it was no secret he had friends amongst them. Friends he would do anything for. Looking ahead Augustus recognised the Davenport exiting the building. They hadnât met before but like many August knew who the original family members were. âNot exactly safe to be out alone,â He commented to the blonde. âUnless youâre as reckless as I am. Or stupid,â He continued with a smile, knowing that stupid would be the word Rue would use.Â
âI sure am glad I decided not to wear my white dress today,â August commented jokingly as he approached his friend. The reception was in full swing and this was the first chance Augustus had to speak with the bride who seemed to constantly surrounded by friends, family, and wellwishers. Auggie was just glad he came back to New York in time for his best friends wedding. âIf I was straight Iâd be taking you to get a divorce so I can marry you myself. You look beautiful,â He complimented giving Cal a hug. âItâs good to see you, Callie.â @calxrhodes
