I did not write this to be a "Haha everyone does that its so funny" thing I wrote it to try and make some of you realize that while headcanons can be fun when you get to a point where your interpretation of a character is entirely unrecognizable from the original just make an oc what is the point of trying to claim its that character. Also so many of you just straight up are playing into racial stereotypes when you do this like you Seriously need to think of how you're interacting with characters of color and which characters you're headcanoning as poc. So many of you play into the mammy stereotype or the unemotional/hypersexualized asian sterotypes without even fucking realizing it and I'm sick of seeing it. Could yall take two seconds to think critically about how you're interacting with characters because it doesn't matter if you're playing into racist caricatures unintentionally its still racism.

i think a huge problem about the way that we frame how apps like tiktok and their respective communities have impacted the internet culture is that we are limiting it to a “teens problem” and are forgetting that a large chunk of tiktok creators and consumers are themselves adults. The nurses filming patients, many of the people running scams, many of the people pathologising everyday behaviours or advocating for botox in your 20’s or whatever the hell is going on in that app are NOT teens. They are adults.

To frame tiktok as a teens only problem both does Gen-Alpha a disservice but also masks the issue of fully grown adults dissolving their critical thinking skills online by thinking they are above having their psyches smooshed around in the pear wiggler just because their frontal lobes’ toasters are done dinging.
