Notes: Thanks to veradubhghoill for the prompt! I have actually been wanting to write a fic based on What’s Your Number? for a while now, so as soon as I saw the prompt I just had to claim it. Hoping you enjoy it! It was a lot of fun to write.
You might recognise the opening scene from the film, but after that I’ve tried to make it my own based on the premise. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks to the mods for this fab fest, and thank you to the lovely T, W and B for looking over this at varying stages ❤️
Summary: After a string of failed relationships and a Witch Weekly article that proclaims anyone who has dated over twenty people is more likely to end up alone, Draco decides enough is enough. There must’ve been someone in his past who he missed a connection with, so there’s only one thing for it. Hunt down all of his exes and find The One.
What he didn't account for was Harry Potter coming along for the ride.

The door swung open, and a man in a white suit stepped out, straightening his jacket and impeccable tie. He was tall and lean and had a dark blue shirt and black tie under the pure white of the suit jacket. He pulled off a pair of sunglasses, slipping them into his pocket, as the sun glinted off his white-blond head and he gave Harry a perfectly calculated smirk.
The pen cap went loose in Harry’s mouth, almost falling to the ground before he managed to clumsily catch it out of the air.
“Auror Potter. Of course,” Draco Malfoy said with a sigh of exasperation, “I should have expected you. I have that sort of luck after all.”
“Malfoy…?” Harry said.
“As opposed to?” Malfoy said, closing the door to his car and leaning his hip against it.
“Anyone else?” Harry said dumbfounded, “You’re the- the new department?”
“I am,” Malfoy said. He pulled a small notebook out of his breast pocket, “I might as well enjoy this while I can, I suppose.”
“Enjoy-? Have you- Do you know what you’re doing?” Harry asked suspiciously.
“No,” Malfoy said flatly.
The Liars Department is honestly, one of the most hilarious things I have read in Drarry fandom. The image of Draco in a white suit and Harry trying to just know what the hell is going on is seared into my brain forever. 103k (!!) goes by so quickly when I was done I couldn't believe the fic isn't longer. AND there's fanart!

“Harry!” someone shouted, and Harry straightened and realized with a jolt that it was Malfoy, who’d never in all their years of bitter rivalry called him by his first name – Malfoy shoving through the crowd of students to reach him and clutch his shoulders, and Harry clutched him back, then clutched him harder because he couldn’t actually stand up anymore. Malfoy caught his weight and helped him down to the ground, swearing under his breath – “Where were you bit?” he demanded, then actually hexed the school doctor when he tried to intervene, propping Harry up against his leg so he could get to the spider bite on the back of his neck, his hands cool and steady on Harry’s skin, murmuring the Venom Extraction in a low, hypnotic voice.
When I read the earth from a distance for the first time I immediately read it again. Harry's POV is spot on and the tension between him and Draco is visceral; I wanted to shook them both like rag-dolls. I read the ending at least a few times it's that good.

The night is warm, so the front doors have been left open. Moonlight spills through them, catching in Malfoy’s hair. He turns at the sound of footsteps, and his gaze becomes wary when he recognises Harry.
Harry, admittedly also drunk himself, extends a hand.
“I shouldn’t have listened to Turner and Sage. I’m sorry.”
Malfoy’s eyes slip towards Harry’s outstretched hand.
He looks up at Harry. “Fuck you.”
Harry laughs, and retracts his hand. “Fair enough.”
Malfoy takes a step towards him. He’s taller than Harry, and looks a lot less drunk close up, his gaze clear and focused. Harry thinks, stupidly, that he will punch him. Or kiss him.
“You’re such a condescending, self-important, arrogant prick. I’m not surprised the Ministry’s had enough of you.”
Harry grins.
“What can I say? We weren’t all born with the cocksucking talent of the Malfoys.”

I remember exactly where I was when I read this. It was the day or the day after it was published and I was hiding in the guest bedroom of my friend's house, avoiding her dogs and toddler for a bit of peace and quiet of a morning. @fastbrother's little snippets are so tiny and devourable, yet convey so much in a few words.
I was livid (LIVID, I tell you!!) when @sweatersinthesummer managed to snap up the podfic before I could. But I got over it (did i? maybe not really 😅) when I listened to her beautiful rendition. 🎧 Check out the podfic version as well. 🎧 And don't miss Sunny's beautiful art either!!!!
“The game is the game?” Harry asks, amused, already leaning in, the hand on Draco’s waist moving to wrap the whole way around him and pull him close.
“Just some stupid phrase I’ve heard from a dickhead,” Draco answers, but the words hold the shape of a smile and are uttered right into a kiss there at the end.
It’s always a race at the start. They're both high from the game, still in that mindset, and it’s a competition to see who can undress quicker, who can make the other harder, who can earn the first moan and coax the first orgasm of the night. But after that first one, after Draco’s jaw aches dully and Potter is softening between his legs, everything slows down a little. Potter helps him up and they share the tacos Potter brought, watching the last minutes of the game they played earlier with Draco’s legs up on Potter’s lap, where he’s massaging his knees, his quads, making sure he’s not achy from kneeling for him.
“I really fucked that one up,” Potter comments. His tiny self on the screen just pulled out of an impossible dive at what looks like a 90 degree angle. He sounds earnest, which is the only reason Draco isn’t kicking him right in his beautiful face.
“I hate you so much. Only you would call that a fuck up.”
This fic pressed every single button on my soul. So sweet, and hot, and tense, and rewarding. Reading it for the first time, I was overwhelmed with emotion; full out butterflies in the tummy, no exaggeration. A delicious 3k treat!
