Oooh! I didn’t think of that! ehehe!
Her lips remained on his for approximately sixteen seconds. In those sixteen seconds, he decided it would be ineffective to move. She still had a hand on his wrist, and there was a high probability of him being unable to use Cataclysm effectively until she relinquished him. She did, after all, match him in strength and agility. Therefore it was most effective to wait until she released him of her own accord. There was a strong possibility of her keeping her hold on him if he ended her ‘kiss of life’ prematurely.
It was a simple strategy that kept him motionless. He waited those sixteen seconds until her lips detached from his face.
Ladybug, against his calculations, did not release him when she detached from him. Her fingers were still closed on his wrist and seemed to tighten.
“Release me,” ordered Chat.
“No,” choked out Ladybug. Though why she was choking was beyond him. There was nothing to choke on. “You’ll hurt him.”
“I will retrieve the akuma,” corrected Chat.
“You’ll still hurt him!” said Ladybug. “If you want to get to him, then you’ll have to fight me first!”
Chat did not need any more prompting. The logical course of action to keep Ladybug functioning in order to repair damages after the fight and remain favorable in the public eye was appearing more and more risky. The risk now outweighed the reward.
He twisted his wrist around, unsurprised when Ladybug’s immediate response was to tighten her hold on him. He quickly jerked his wrist in another direction and raised his leg to kick.
Ladybug seemed to have expected him to hold back. He did not.
His boot connected with her side and he felt her fingers slip off his wrist as she was launched into the air. Based on a swift estimation he had calculated based on his knowledge in physics, Chat guessed she would be in the air for four more seconds at the least and fourteen at the most.
He turned his attention to the akuma, who stood there and sized him up.
The akuma had logic on his side, but Chat knew it was a fallacy. A diversion of faux logic that only those with no knowledge of the subject would fall into easily. It was based on a power play that simply did not apply to him.
The akuma had no physical prowess, a trait which Chat had in abundance. Chat also possessed the powers of entropy and mass destruction.
The akuma nodded his head.
“It is pointless to continue this. Remove the item,” stated Chat. His hand flexed. A power play. It was a hesitant theory that Hawkmoth required emotion in order to maintain control over his victims. Even a person with no fear would recognize the gap in strength and ability. A completely logical person would comply.
“I refuse,” stated the akuma.
Theory proven. The akuma was not completely logical. Chat would have to fight to remove the akumatized object.
Chat gave no verbal warning, such a thing would be pointless. His hand moved forward in empty air. Even death could be reversed by Ladybug’s Lucky Charm. No one would suffer needlessly and the event could be ended quickly.
