An edible bouquet this time, with all of Chariot's favorite fruits. The note read: Many notes come and go, Ever filled with joys and woes, Rhymes and riddles left for you, I wonder who would Do this too, If you're truly keeping score, Everything will spell itself out, forever yours, your Secret admirer
Chariot’s face lit up at the edible arrangement, and she gasped at how tantalizingly bright and fresh the colors of strawberries and kiwis were. However, as she was about to pluck a piece from the bouquet, the attached note caught her eye. She picked it off and began reading.
“…Your secret admirer?!” she accidentally yelled out. Chariot smacked her hand to her mouth and looked around, but she was alone in her dressing room.
“Is this… the same person as last time?” Chariot wondered. “They seem to think I should know who they are…”
Chariot read the card over a few more times just to see if some clue would reveal itself to her, but she saw nothing. She could at least appreciate that the poem was creative. She didn’t want to deal with it anymore though.
Right when she stood to throw the card away, a single letter caught her eye. It was a single capitalized letter in the middle of the sentence, and then it all hit her at once.
“The capitalized letters… Meridies!”
The contents of the previous bouquet’s note came back to her mind, and Chariot blushed heavily. Her heart welled with warmth… and then sadness.
Why would Croix send something like this when only a while ago she had stormed out from this same dressing room with a definitive goodbye. Was this an apology? Was she trying to reconcile their relationship?
Chariot’s thoughts swarmed feverishly. Should she respond? But her chest seized with fear at the idea.
Frantically, Chariot seized the bouquet and threw it in the trash along with the note. It no longer seemed appetizing to her. She collapsed back down at the desk and put her head in her hands, closing her eyes to keep the welling tears from spilling.
