R: How did you overcome depression?

Long silence. Auron keeps staring at the distance. Rikku looks at him.

A: I didn't.

It's been a long time. I'm glad I got to see it through the near beginning and to the very end.

so I'm rewriting a 20+ year old Aurikku fanfic I guess

“You’re mysterious and you’re a shit-stirrer, you know.” She peels off a section of the fruit and flings it at him as the cold, sticky juice bleeds over her thumb. He watches the scrap fall with one eye and doesn’t move as it bounces off his shoulder and tumbles over his knee to the ground. Then that grunt of his, the one you’re supposed to accept as a full sentence. “You act like you’re not but you are,” she goes on, “even if you don’t like taking responsibility for it or being part of the reaction. It’s like you want to be all stoic but you—just—can’t—help it with the little one-liners.”
