“I’ve missed you.” Ella smiled sitting down on the plush blanket she laid on the grass and opened the picnic basket revealing finger sandwiches, cucumbers, fresh jam and toast and an assortment of pastries and fresh fruit of course. “I’m so glad we are finally able to have our picnic.” She grinned crossing her legs and sitting up. She could recall just barely but glimpses of picnics she would have with her mum when she was still alive. Ones she wanted to have as a kid with Anastasia and Drizella when they first met. Now one she got to share with a dear friend. She pulled her sleeves over her hands an old habit as she pressed them against her knees. “How have things been with you?” She asked gently with a smile and started making her a little plate. @auroras-dawn

Aurora had been over the moon when her friend had asked her to go on a picnic. Of course, real life had almost insisted on keeping them apart but they had seized the day and managed to meet up in the park to have it and she was grateful for that. “I know! Isn’t it horrible that life can get so busy?” She looked around as if she might have been followed but she wasn’t looking for her aunts. She was looking for danger that the ghastly man in the bar might have caused. It would be just her luck to be caught up in it when she was trying not to and on top of that, she certainly didn’t want to put her friend in danger. She sank to the blanket and smiled as the other blonde set out the food. “You always make my mouth water,” Ro laughed. “It all looks so wonderful!” She paused. “Good, for the most part, but the mayor’s new decree sure has pulled some scummy people out of the woodwork. I had the displeasure of meeting that horrible man in the papers. I’ve never been so uncomfortable in my life!” She scowled in a very unlady like manner. “What about you?”

The muscles in aurora’s face spasmed softly as she clenched her jaw. “You’re a very presumptuous man.” She said, doing her best to temper the sudden anger that flared in her chest. “Of course, if they’re a danger to the community I can see your point. But not all people are good and not all ‘monsters’ are bad. I highly doubt you have time to tell when you’re waving that gun around like a hellish brute. That’s the part I struggle to understand. A bloodbath isn’t productive. It’s damaging at best.”

“I prefer ‘bold and daring’, but thank you,” Gaston remarked, dismissing her comment like an annoying fly buzzing around his head. Het set his mug down on the wooden bar top to turn towards her when she pushed back against his statement.  “It’s called preventative maintenance, my dear. You don’t let the wasp hive overtake the three before it becomes an infestation. You take it out the moment you spot it.” Murmurs of agreement from the men around him, bolstering the hunter’s ego to nod as if confirming his beliefs. “Big talk for someone so… frail. You’re young. No one expects you to understand. Now hurry along and find yourself something to knit or clean while the big men protect you and your neighbors.”

The more she heard the angrier she became. How could someone be so… blasé about the loss of life? Of good beings who wouldn’t harm anyone? That was bad enough but the moment he began to talk down to her, any decorum she might have had flew way out the window. She felt rage that she couldn’t seem to describe fill her from head to toe and she acted too quickly to think, spitting her mouthful of drink into his face forcefully. “Don’t you EVER talk to me that way again or I promise I’ll find a way to make your life hell.” She stood and walked towards the door, her jaw clenched and her head held high. She definitely wouldn’t be coming back here ever again.

Aurora had come in to get a drink and nothing more so when the man beside her started bragging about his… contribution to the city, she had to resist rolling her eyes. She didn’t respond right away; taking time to order her drink before turning to him. “No, actually. I didn’t come for an autograph I came to get a drink but since you brought it up, I think what you do is cruel and I’m not impressed by it in the slightest.” She could hear her aunties gasping at her forwardness but she didn’t care as the bartender slid her the drink. She’d never been a fan of someone who was mean for no reason and this was no exception.

At first, he was taken aback, annoyed at first by being ignored. “Not impressed?” The man looked at her with a quirk of his eyebrow and a dismissive laugh. “The old woman I saved from being killed by a vampire would disagree. The child I snatched from the claws of a werewolf would also beg to differ. So you’d rather let innocent people die to save the monsters lives, would you? I’m hardly impressed by your lack of care for humanity, either.”

HUNTER MAKES CITY SAFER.

A flash of the headline of the newspaper read as it was brandished in the hand of the broad shouldered man in the bar. “Why yes, yes, this headline is talking about me,” he said, a sly smile pulling from ear to ear as he cooed to a slender woman sitting beside him.  “No need to thank me for making your city safer from beasts and monsters – but I do accept drinks for gratitude.”

Someone on his other side caught his attention. He turned to look, grinning instinctively to strut his charm and exhibit his strong jaw line. “Come for an autograph, have you?”

Aurora’s costume should have been simple. Something easy to put on and hide out in. Instead she had decided to craft one of Marilyn Monroe’s more ostentatious outfits from one of her movies from scratch with a masquerade mask to match. She’d given it a thought and decided that most people would be going all out and if she wanted to blend in; she should as well.

She had snuck out of the house easily enough. Her aunties were arguing over what tv show they should watch that night and all their focus was on that. She’d left with no fanfare and was more than happy to be on her own, even if it was only for an hour or two.

She walked with purpose to reach the center of it all, the bustle of people around her telling her that she should slide her mask over her eyes as she reached her destination. The smells coming from the marketplace made her mouth water and as she stepped into the chaos she wasn’t sure what she wanted to try first. She held the train out of the way but still managed to stumble. “Oh goodness!” She said, coming up short in front of someone. “I’m sorry! My head is in a whirl. Everything smells so lovely. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should try first?”

Aurora laughed as she righted herself. “Oh goodness. I so adore Marilyn but I’m terribly afraid that I’m nothing like her!” She gently patted her hand against her pocket where her money was. “Ooh! That actually sounds amazing.” She turned to go. “Would you like some?” She asked over her shoulder. “I’d be more than happy to get you some. I wouldn’t have thought about it if you hadn’t mentioned it!” She stepped into line and ruffled her hair as she looked around. “My usual go to would be a candy apple but I feel brave today—.” She paused and laughed. “I’m Aurora, by the way. It’s so nice to meet you!”

"That's the point of this night isn't it. To be something you're not." Where was the fun in dressing up as something you were everyday. Hell she didn't even want to be who she was most days. An extremely overworked personal assistant, that'd be a hard pass for her. If only she didn't need this job. "Why not, I've got some time." A lie but hey she hasn't been punctual yet. No point in starting now. Besides how could she turn down free food. "I'm more of a caramel apple girl but there is nothing wrong with a classic." She offered a small smile. "Beatrice, nice to meet you. So you're just out here for the bake sale."

“Well, if you’d rather get that we can certainly find a place that sells them,” aurora offered with a sweet smile, not letting the girls sort of brusque tone get to her. She walked with her hands folded in front of her, doing her best not to take any more space up than necessary. “I suppose so. I’ve been trying to take as much in as I can before I have to go home. My guardians are rather strict about the time I spend outside so I’m trying to make the best of it and, quite honestly, I feel you can’t go wrong with a good Halloween treat!”

A devourer of hearts, but he was no killer. He could spot a man with truly terrible motives in the dark. And this city, sadly, seemed full of them - men and women alike.

“Don’t look now,” Howl said casually as he leaned into a stranger and urged them to walk forward with him with a gentle touch of their lower back and a pep in his step. “but there’s been a strange gentleman following you. Act very natural and direct me to a public space that you feel safe in, then I can handle the rest – but I insist that you play along.”

A slight tilt of his head to glance over his shoulder, he still saw a shadow of a character trailing around the corner. “How was your day, sweetheart? I assume that you won the halloween contest with your costume.”

Aurora should have been home hours ago and she knew it, but she had lost track of time. Initially, she thought that perhaps she was just being paranoid. After all, her aunties had practically preached it into her. But it was fairly obvious that someone was following her and given her costume there wasn’t much she could do about it. She balled her fists into the material of her dress and picked up her pace when someone fell into step beside her.

She looked up quickly, stifling a sound, and felt her brows furrowing at the handsome man’s words. Part of her was suspicious of him too but she didn’t have a lot of options. She took a moment to process what he said and then laughed, relieved and ever so slightly panicked as she took his arm. She led him towards a bar she’d ducked into once before. While it wasn’t in the best part of town, the people and the staff had been friendly enough and perhaps they’d be willing to help the stranger if things got too out of hand.

Her voice sounded shaky even as she looked up at him with a smile that was as sweet as sugar. “It was good. I had a lot of fun but I didn’t win. I don’t think that anyone truly appreciated Marylin Monroe for the icon and national treasure she was!”

The marketplace was the destination for the evening. Adelaide had called  and gave quite a hefty list of things she needed by the end of today. Why the old woman liked to give her little time to actually get things done she'd never understand. Lucky for the marketplace should have most of what she needed. At least she could pretend she was having fun. I mean she decided to dress up and everything.

She hadn’t really planned on dressing up at first, didn't have any good ideas. It's not like she needed a costume to go to the various events, but it wouldn't hurt to get into the spirit. It finally hit her about a week ago that she could actually cobble together Star's outfit from Lost Boys. She didn't know why she didn't think of it sooner, she watched it every year come October. It had become one of her favorites over the years. So a few thrift store runs and a couple modifications later, the final product came out better than she expected. She was quite proud of it.

Beatrice had flitted about the market, her bag had slowly been filling up and she was making a decent dent in the list. She decided it was time for a break. The smells coming from the bake sale were hard to resist. Grabbing herself a coffee and some shortbread cookies, which were stashed away for a later time, she stood back and people watched. It was a sea of faces, so much more crowded than usual. Decide who to focus on. That decision was made for her as someone nearly fell right into her. She took a step back to avoid the collision. "Whoa, watch it. You're lucky you didn't outright fall." The response was perhaps a touch rude, she merely stating a fact though. "Depends on what you like really. Most of the stuff here is good. I keep hearing a lot about the baklava. It's over there somewhere I think."

Aurora wasn’t entirely sure HOW she ended up at the markets at night and she was positive her aunties would flip if they knew she’d wandered into the less safe part of the city. Still, she found herself looking here and there at everything, unable to take it all in even as she she spun in a slow circle. Suddenly though, she saw as well as felt something… absolutely terrifying; a familiar face that haunted her dreams. “I…. Sorry ma’am. I’ll just…” she sidestepped her quickly, keeping her head down. She didn’t know why she felt so unsettled but even as she tried to make her escape, she couldn’t put her finger on why the woman scared her so.

Upon seeing her the realization set in and the smirk grew while the pieces started to fit together. She knew precisely who this flower was plucked from, a garden she’d once known well and now she was intrigued. “Did I startle you?” Mal spoke in a smooth tone that was laced with her own ulterior motives. Little did the girl know it had been some time that she’d thought about Stephen and the betrayal he’d caused her father all those years ago. Word that he had a daughter had gone about but an appearance from the infamous child was never made. “You’re in the wrong place to be scared so easily, dear,” she said with her lips pushing into a pout. “You don’t know what kind of darkness lurks out here at night.”

“I Um. Well, yes. A bit. But it was my fault not yours. I’m so very sorry.” She felt her skin prickle and she wanted nothing more than to flee. She couldn’t though. Not when she was caught in the gaze of a predator. “I don’t know why I’m so jumpy, actually,” she said, beginning to ramble. “I usually face things with much more bravery than this so I… perhaps that’s a sign I should be going…..”

Maleficent finally emerged from her office out long past sunset, as usual. That was when the city really came alive. Her connections with the black market made that inside was safer during the day, to play the facade of the business woman her father created her to be. Once the light was gone in Los Santos was when her real job began and she wasn’t playing solely to appearances. She made her way through the hoards surrounding the night market, being sure to make note of anyone she’d recognized from the underground. That’s when she locked eyes with someone after they abruptly stopped in front of her. “Are you just going to stand there or do you have other functions?”

Aurora just so happened to be looking up at a bird sitting on the awning of the store. She sidestepped it to avoid being pooped on and found herself colliding with another person. She instantly found herself apologizing to them because it had certainly not been her intention to run into anyone. She was pulled up short, listening to the woman’s surprised tone. She pointed up at the awning and stammered a moment before dropping her hand. “No,” she finally said with a sweet smile. “Is yours?”

People with over-the-top personalities always turned Anastasia off, what exactly did they have to be so happy about? It didn’t make sense. The red-head’s eyebrows furrowed together and her nose wrinkled as she got a better look at the dreamy blonde. Her eyes followed the extended arm of the other girl to the pointed bird. “A bird? That’s what you were distracted by?” Anastasia questioned, sounding on the verge of being disgusted. “Uh, no, I live in the real world.”

Aurora normally didn’t like confrontation. She was what some people would probably refer to as…. Soft. So when the stranger came at her she tried her best to explain to her that the bird was a danger to one’s hair and clothing. She personally didn’t know anyone who loved getting shat on by a bird. She opened her mouth to explain herself when the bird squawked and pooped directly on top of her head. She stared at her in amused horror for a moment before rummaging around in her bag for a tissue. “That… was why I was concerned….” She mumbled quietly.

It was fairly calm in aurora’s household. Although her aunties had been up early, they had grown quiet as they tried to figure out what to do for breakfast. She had lain in bed, a small smile playing on her face as she counted down the seconds until they poked their heads into her room — one, two, three, and asked her to run to the store. She acquiesced and got ready to go, pulling her hair up and sliding into her comfortable clothes to make the trip. Bread and eggs. It wasn’t a surprise they needed them. She had never met someone so inept at cooking. Still, she was glad to get out and embrace the day fully, walking to the store with her purse thrown over her shoulder. Today felt like a good day. She was sure of it.

Lady Tremaine had woken up Anastasia after having a long night and forced her out of bed to go pick up. a couple of groceries. Why Anastasia’s step-sister could not go out and do it was beyond Anastasia, but she nonetheless threw on whatever comfortable clothes that were on her floor and made her way towards the bustling stores. Usually, she would have rather stayed in bed until she had to leave, but sometimes starting the day early was better than feeling like a bag of shit in bed. As she made her way into the grocery store, she collided right into the dreamy blonde coming from the store. “Ugh!” She took a step back, taking a good look at the other female. “Is your head in the clouds?”
