HAPPY FRIDAY, FRIENDS! 

So I know the weekend is usually when I get to never leave my apartment and sit online all day to vaguely exist here more than usual, but my mom and sister are coming up to visit for the weekend so I’ll probably be mostly MIA. HOWEVER. Ya girl planned ahead and not only already submitted my @ficletinstruments prompt fill for the week, but also finished Monday’s Coda Fic update! So nothing will get delayed. And a bonus? At least one of these weekend days will be spent entirely at the beach, which means HOURS OF WRITING!

Or, perhaps, some reading for a change because I’m almost done with the book I’m reading, Out of the Shade by S. A. McAuley (aka @otppurefuckingmagic, our favorite author of In The Sin Bin!) and my heart is aching at this precise moment and I NEED TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS, I nearly couldn’t put it down to sleep last night. I’ve got some good books lined up to follow, too, if I can pull myself away from writing every free second I have to actually finish reading the new books I keep buying/borrowing. 

And thaaaaat’s about that. This week at work went surprisingly smooth, knock on wood so I don’t jinx myself for today, and I get Monday off to spend with my family which is so nice since I only get to see them a handful of times a year. Plus, it gave me an excuse to actually clean my room/apartment, which looks almost livable now! xD 

I hope everyone has a great Friday, and an amazing weekend if I don’t get a chance to pop in and out a ton. <3 <3

honestly i would die for this hc. like andrew and aaron rarely smile so no one knows. but then when katelyn starts hanging out with the foxes a lil bit more there’s like a chance of one of them catching aaron smiling… but like no one cares about aaron so it takes a while? but there’s a picture. and aaron’s in the background. and allison looks back on her photos from the night and she just goes. holy fuck that’s a dimple. dan’s like “yeah who cares?” and allison just looks her right in the eyes and says “andrew has dimples.”

but no one has PROOF and as we all know, it’s not true until u see it. so there are bets on whether he has them, whether he’ll ever smile, will it be because of neil, is it only one dimple or both, etc. etc. these are probably the longest standing bets among the foxes, the few that have lasted from the psu years until years after graduation because the boy does not smile. literally not ever. what the fuck. (the foxes are gonna be patient about it.)

and neil knows about the bets even though he doesn’t take part. he’s like. who even cares? it’s just… ur face goin in instead of out what the fuck. (bless him he doesn’t understand). he makes 0 attempts to make andrew smile because he knows andrew’s happier and he knows at least that andrew’s content so that’s enough for him. and he’s seen aaron’s dimples, there’s nothing that special about them? what the fuck

except. 

he manages to catch andrew off-guard. one day, years and years on, when neil’s all but forgotten that the others are so intent on seeing these alleged-dimples, andrew’s relaxed. it’s warm, the cats are purring somewhere nearby without breaking shit, neil’s made him coffee and they have nowhere to be, and neil says something utterly characteristic and hilarious, and andrew breathes out a laugh. which isn’t particularly new. but there’s… somewhat a smile? and neil just like,,, stares. which andrew is used to. so he doesn’t comment.

(neil has to text all of the foxes, immediately, and doesn’t realise/care he used the group chat that andrew and aaron are BOTH in. he receives death threats from both.)

i was just slammed with the thought of: andrew, like a normal human, has a racing pulse when he does things he’s scared of. (see andrew on the roof top, “andrew lifted a hand to his own throat and felt for his pulse. he tapped his finger along when he found it. it was going faster than it should.”) so please consider that andrew’s pulse was racing when he kissed neil. because it was dangerous and could have this pipe dream. and maybe the second and the third. and even further after that because kissing neil is terrifying. because it’s terrifying to think that he could have this, have neil.

I’ve come to realise that some people clamoring for more LGBTQ+ representation in literature - especially when it comes to more specific characters and / or situations - may not be aware of the plethora of book publishers who are catering towards this exact niche. The pattern of a text post stating they just want X book, only to have other tumblrs responding with “have you tried this? or this? This might also fit X. You should also ask Y, they know a lot” only goes to exemplify this. This specific post by @siancrosslin really pushed this issue to the fore of my mind.
