My little intro: Call me Lora. I'm 23, autistic, sapphic, mixed, quite busy in real life but I love to read when I can.
Like many fan accounts, I'm just here to have fun. You'll see my rambles which I'm prone to make, headcannons, theories, a lot about my favorite ships, reviews, and everything along those lines! I may occasionally post my writing, too.
I love the 14 Oz books, and a lot of the various Oz media, particularly those based on the 14, so you'll hear about all of that.
I love and adore Scraps, The Patchwork Girl, so you're gonna see her on here often.
My favorite ships for Oz currently are: Scraps x Scarecrow, and Dorothy x Ozma. There's a lot more, but those are the main favorites you'll see often.
All sorts of Oz media and interpretations of Oz will be talked about, including adult Oz media. I am also very fond of horror, so, I do indulge in horror interpretations of retellings of Oz as well. But do bear in mind, even the original books could be quite dark at times. Though any major triggers will be tagged, please do beware of this. Adult topics may come up as well, but again anything major I try to keep tagged.
This pin is under construction, which is why it is a bit of a mess. Thank you for reading!

Interest in Oz books, interest in Scraps, my favorite character of it.
Reads about Raggedy Ann, who was inspired by Scraps. Reads about her, her stories, Raggedy Andy, watches the Raggedy Ann movie,
Hears about Ragatha, from the Amazing Digital Circus which I had watched the first episode of when it came out two years ago. Decides to go back and retry it, ends up falling in love and watches the whole series. (I...actually got a ticket for the early showing within the first two hours of the trailer coming out)
In researching that, learns how it is heavily inspired by I Have No Mouth and Must Scream. I go, find, and read the short story, then proceed to find the playthrough of the full game.
Thinking about that spell used randomly in the Oz series with big groups, where the wizard, as learned from Glinda would take a rag or handkerchief and turn it into a "bigger on the inside" luxury tent room of sorts. And, it would somewhat resemble the fabric it came from.
So, and hear me out.
If he were to take a piece of fabric directly from Scraps or Scarecrow, then do this spell, would the outcome show any reflection of either of their personalities or thoughts? Even a way to explore stepping into their minds a little (either in a big magical way or even just having books in the room with some of their memories or thoughts), or just having the "room" very based on their personalities or what they would want or like in a room?
Y'all it's 4:00 AM for me I haven't slept and I am having Oz thoughts. This is so random and weird but something I think that could be fun to explore.
Hey hi thank you for answering my question I just wanted say that I think I have some sort of answer to Dorothy’s relationship with Zebb now I personally talked about this in my blog before and if I remember correctly, you saw it as well I believe that Dot and Neddie are actually the kids of Ozma and Dorothy but after the incident with Ozma i’m assuming the kids are still too young to remember anything and out of grief and stress Dorothy was in a state that she couldn’t handle the kids on her own with that Zebb stepped up to help her cousin take care of the two forming some sort of lavender marriage or a marriage of convenience or whatever that is strictly platonic and only for raising the kids and the kids just assume Zebb is their actual father or something like that what do you think about that headcannon?
Oh definitely.
I much prefer this headcannon over, what's implied.
How the the kids came to be can be a few options. Biologically and we just Oz Squad it, they could be adopted, or some form of Oz magic. Maybe even a mix.
I have to rewatch if they ever actually say outright they're married. I know they call them respectively mom and dad but for the purpose of this headcannon I wonder.
But we have the same wave length. They start as Dorothy and Ozma's, making the event just after Ned was born. They do even know of Ozma, but were likely told more in the idea of the history of Oz, as Dorothy doesn't mention her again when recounting the history of how she got here. (To which I'd say probably rough subject).
Then afterwards we can have Zeb step in, probably somehow got pulled back into Oz and I imagine after a time took permanent residence like many of the others. And, became the father of the kids by role rather then relationship to Dorothy.
All that rambling to say, I am very much on board with the headcannon, and if it did come from you would love to have it in my AU. Also it just, not just for ships but fits Dorothy more?
Helloooo this is so late, but I hope worth it. You have given me the excuse to ramble so I took that to finish the draft of my Oz Kids AU/theory and finally post it.
First I do want to say it is never a bother, I love to ramble, especially about Oz and the Oz Kids is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine.
My overthought and self-indulgent theory that became an AU. (Which is why you'll have the theory parts then filled in by my AU) This is the overall but if you have anything in specific you want me to ramble on, I happily will!
This started as a separate draft written when I was in a writing mood, but never finished and posted. I usually only tell this in DMs to some people because my nerves get me before actually posting it, so!
The Oz Kids theory/AU.
I have a pretty large theory/AU on the Oz kids that I do go by, and I keep saying I'll post it someday.
This show is heavily based on the 14 books, going into detail a lot of other even 14 based Oz media doesn't show. Yet it still leaves much of the story to question, while at the same time leaving lots of hints.
In the Oz Kids show Scarecrow is King, though, Princess Ozma is mentioned. Calling her Princess, as well as Jack's existence, shows that Ozma did rule and the stories of the books did happen. Making this not an AU about how the books could have gone but a story after the books. Though we never learn what happened to Ozma between the time of the books and the show.
Starting with, Scarecrow Jr. and Betty both are children of Scraps and Scarecrow. The reasoning is not just because of my own ship. Scarecrow Jr. Is said to come from Munchkin Country, not Emerald City where his father rules, meaning he was born before whatever happened to Ozma did happen and Scarecrow resumed his role.
Both Scraps and Scarecrow come from Munchkin Country, and, are within canon each other's love interest. So, after the events of the books they got together, moved to Munchkin Country and had him.
Whatever event that caused Ozma to vanish from the throne happened. Considering she was the ruling of a fae empire, highly doubt it would be good. Back to her later.
Scarecrow was a ruler before, and if we are to take what is said he was supposedly a good one for the small time he did rule, and, of course he is the main advisor to Ozma. So he already helped a great deal in running the Kingdom. Eirher by his own decision, or others, he became King again after her role.
Now within the 40 it is actually covered, Scraps does not like nor has interest in ruling after her experience in the Patchwork Kingdom. (If you have not read the book in summary she was kidnapped to be the new "Queen" of a Kingdom and was pretty much forced to be their slave under the title). So, this leads to them splitting up. Keep rolling with me I swear this is not me just putting my ship into the verse. (Look I do that plenty I would admit it).
This, then leads to a custody arrangement of Jr. Going back and forth between them. With how all the kids group up together, to the point of often sleeping over together and all parents just agreeing on it, this is how he started bringing over his friends when he stayed with her, and out of all people Scraps ended up being a common caregiver to all of them to the point of being called "Auntie Scraps."
That said them being split up doesn't mean they aren't on good terms or they don't often meet up.
Or that Betty suspiciously appeared 9 months after one of their meetings.
(Fine, fine, that parts adding my ship but it sure is interesting after there is a large meet up of the adults in the group Betty suddenly appears a few episodes later).
Resuming back to Ozma. Whatever happened I assume must have involved the Nome King, as, he is once again in power, with Kaliko nowhere to be seen.
She could have disappeared, or had some type of curse put on her making her incapable of ruling. What I personally do is usually leave it so, either she had a curse put on her leaving her in a catatonic state so Jack is now taking care of her (Jack Jr. Is suggested to have a larger family...) or she's simply disappeared, either way for a story so the kids must eventually find her.
Rather odd how Glinda's daughter, Andrea, dresses to look like Ozma, though.
Dorothy I guess just lost her mind some after Ozma disappeared and married her distant cousin....I don't really have a way to explain this. That said, Zeb must have returned in this event and...well...gotten close with Dorothy.
In my indulgent theory turned AU though, where I am already putting my ships I do like to think Ozma and Dorothy were together before the supposed event took place, this part of why she no longer talks about Ozma much. Possibly even put this as Dot and Ned are both their kids and Zeb is just an Uncle who stepped in...either way, I have them together in my AU of this and she, very much is not doing good after losing her. Has to put up a good front for the kids though...
Extra things to note:
Jack Jr., aside from being a child that could be created, does mention having two parents. So, Jack found someone. As well as suggested to have a bigger family, so it is possible he has siblings or other extended family. I do use this to slip in a possibility of where Ozma can be, as, well, she'd be his grandmother.
Boris and Bella mention a mother more then once, though she is never seen.
I do have some smaller details to the theory and some parts of it manage to get into even bigger of a stretch then this. I know this was a bit of a mess, but the overall for the theory. Thanks for reading!
You know, mashing up the kinda convoluted canon of Baum's Oz with the rest of the famous 40 makes some interesting dynamics and outcomes.
For example, Lurline making a sort of odd royal magical dynasty with Ozma and Oz. Presumably, she'd want that to continue. And I just want to be there during the first all Lurline fae followers visit (Magic Mimics) when she introduced Jack and pretty much told her the bloodline ends here.
(The bit about marriage and extra lore to the aging is from Ruth's Oz lore)
Because like:
Ozma: This is Jack, my....son.
Jack: She created me! She's my mom!
Lurline: How beautiful :)
Ozma: Oh and I'm never planning to marry and I want to stay around 13 my whole life, there's a spell on Oz so we can decide when to age. Jack is really the closest I'm ever going to have to an heir and I'm okay with that.
Lurline:....What now.
Very silly but I do think there are more serious interesting concepts sprouting from this. The conflicting lore is Lurline may not care but she also did seem to want to create a royal magical dynasty of sorts too in Oz. So, it'd be an interesting first conversation to watch.
I would also want to know if Lurline would count Jack as a relation. As in, would she consider him just a creation of the sort of demi-god fae Ozma is. Or, since Ozma kinda accepts he's her son would she have to as well.
This one is going to be a particularly weird train of thought.
So most of the inhuman characters seem to generally have attraction to other non-human characters. (Scarecrow, Scraps, Jack) while Nick is sort of included in this his only canon romantic relationship as is Fyter's is with the "meat" women Nimmie Amee. While it seems the non-meat characters that were never flesh seem to exclusively take attraction to others non-meat.
So how far does this extend? Would this come to include the China doll characters for characters like Scraps and Scarecrow? Or do they have to be doll like, thus their immediate attraction to each other?
Jack who seemed to have interest in Scraps, would he include dolls and others of the plant characters? Or would he stay to other doll/Scarecrow creatures?
If any of these characters started having kids like them, would they be likely to mate with the creatures in the China town country?
For the record this train of thought originally sprouted from me trying to think of a game of Oz where you could make your character different creatures. Leading to me wondering what the doll species of sorts would look like in the long run.
Before anyone takes this wrong this is just some out loud wondering about immediate attraction and preference this is not about romantic interests or shipping, please don't make it about that.
You know, out of everyone in the original 4, Scarecrow really out there living his best life.
Because while everyone did very well, no one actually did as well as Scarecrow does.
He was king of the entire empire that is Oz, grew tired of the job and even after being dethroned he really gets no hate for it. He is the main adviser to Ozma, only possibly second to Glinda, which gives him majority of the royal power without the consequences or ties of it.
He has a very dear friend in Nick, (who, I would like to add makes his opinion most valuable to another ruler in this empire) who he speaks to, visits, goes on adventures with often.
He is one of the very few to end the series with a love interest, Scraps.
He has a corn tower on a farm which is often described as a mansion out in the rural areas of Winkie Country near his friend. Yet even with all these duties he is still able to often adventure out, both of the story trips yes, but also often on his own.
He is repeatedly said to be the most popular man in Oz. Most people seem willing to help him if needed, even Jinjur the said person to dethrone him has befriended him and helps repaint his face.
So, just saying. Out of everyone in the original group, Scarecrow really did the best and is out there living his best life.
The pain gas come back full force so right now just sitting and waiting to see if these pain meds will actually work so going to try to some things here!
What are your thoughts on the webcomic Yellow Brick Ramble? It has canon gay and trans characters (including a trans Ozma)!
I thought quite a bit how to word this reply.
I have seen it around. Honestly, it weirds me out a lot that we seem to be shipping Ozma with the Sawhorse, it also weirds me out a lot how many people just seem okay with that. (He's not humanoid or even part humanoid...he's a talking wooden horse so that's...) Also I've heard some of it may just be one of jokes. Yeah, it's still weird.
I didn't appreciate the "Well I can be sapphic with you." Joke. But hey, sapphics and lesbians are quite often the butt of jokes even in queer spaces, aren't we?
I don't know. I guess it seems cute-ish. Due to a lot of little things I've seen I don't trust it with the characters nor am I particularly fond of the portrayals. I did once get excited seeing the lore seems researched like seeing Jesseva Pipt but at the same time I don't really trust this author with characters like Scraps.
I, it just is sad for something to be progressive in many ways then make it questionable and stereotypical in others, thus putting some of that progressiveness in question.
I don't touch it. I think I blocked the author but not sure.
You don't have to agree with me. Clearly many don't and for something so popular I'm hoping there are major things I'm missing. But it's too much for me, and I'm not going to sit and fight anyone about it.
That so? Then why does near every single adaptation of the Oz sequels consciously go out of its way to either completely cut her from the story or limit/modify her to the degree she’s narratively unrecognisable?
It’s almost like there’s an inherent queerness to her narrative that even the most wilfully obtuse person can see. So they’d rather just not touch her.
There’s an argument to have about if she was intentionally coded that way but the coding is there regardless. Because queer themes in media?
Anyway. Scraps attempts to kiss Scarecrow via essentially open-mouthed biting/sucking on his face. He has been licked and lost paint. He thinks they just need practice to get it right.
