“I’m sure they will be,” he said with a smirk on his face, it widening when she pulled him towards her, “oh forgive me, i won’t do it again,” he chuckled, placing his lips on hers.

“I suppose I forgive you, it’s a good thing you’re so cute.” Autumn teased, pulling back minimally to speak. As far as distractions from the status of the school went, this one was her favorite.

He leaned down and pecked her lips, “Good, but if anyone does mess with you, let me know, I don’t want you to be messed with. And as for those… miscreants, I’m sure they’ll be gone soon, and the school would be ours again.”

He kissed her quickly and she almost didn’t hear anything else he said, moving her hands to grip the fabric of his sweatshirt. “They better be...” she smirked, pulling him back down towards her. “...don’t do that and then keep talking.” Her laugh was light, teasing him for doing something so dumb. “Come here.”

Campbell smiled to himself when he felt Autumn lean into him. “Is anyone messing with you? Are you okay?” He asked, immediately jumping to the worst case conclusion when she said it was terrible.

She leaned her chin on his chest, looking up at him and slowly shook her head. “No. No one would do that...I just don’t like sharing our school. I barely liked it before and now it’s overcrowded.” Autumn smirked, loving that he went immediately into protective mode, that was something she could get used to.

Campbell walked up to Autumn with a giant smile on his face, “There’s my girl,” he said, pulling her into a hug and kissing the top of her head, “How’ve you been? What do you think about the Southbankers arrival?”

Autumn felt familiar arms encircle her and she took a deep breath, leaning into him. “Oh thank god, someone I actually want to see. It’s kind of terrible.” She sighed, knowing she was being dramatic. “Don’t you think?” she asked, tilting her head back to look up at him.

“They will hit a girl, just, fuck don’t do that!” He whined at her. He sighed deeply and rubbed his forehead, trying not to scream back at her.  “I don’t want anyone to get beat up. how would you even get someone to beat up Scotty?” He said before widening his eyes. “Wait–fuck, don’t–don’t do anything.”

Autumn was about to yell back at him, that if a guy wanted to beat up a girl, he was certainly welcome to try. She couldn’t wait to see what everyone thought of that but froze when he let a name slip. “Scotty? Fucking Scotty Bradford did this? Are you kidding me?”

“how is this possibly the world hating on you? you’re here for just a couple of more months and then you’ll never see anyone from here again. so why are you so angry at the world right now? just chill, have some coffee.” 

“It’s just unfair. I almost got through my entire high school career without having to rub elbows with Southbank and now I don’t even get a choice. Aren’t you the least bit peeved by this?”

“Yes, that was my handiwork. Did you enjoy it?” she asked with a mischievous grin. She looked around the little hide out. “I’m thinking of getting some of those bachelorette party decorations to put up around here. Stuff with penises all over it.”

Autumn nodded with a laugh. “Yeah, I definitely enjoyed it. There’s a nice ambiance under here.” She laughed a bit harder at the mention of bachelorette decorations, completely in support of the idea. “That would make it even better.”

“That would bother me,” Clarissa clarified, so the other was aware it wasn’t something she would personally find joy in. Being terrified wasn’t fun, she should know. “Of course, well… We could distract ourselves with something else then!”

Autumn stared at her before shrugging, “and? I don’t care if it bothers you just like I don’t care if it bothers anyone else.” She rolled her eyes as though it was terribly obvious that Autumn didn’t care about a lot of things. “What are your PG rated distractions then?”

“Apparently Northlakers have no patience and feel as though they own every part of the damn hallway,” Aurora rolled her eyes at the other girl. 

“No patience? I’ve been standing here for at least two minutes and you’ve been so self-involved with whatever is in your brain, you didn’t notice.” She scowled at the other girl, not wanting to deal with her and her trashiness that was probably contagious. “I don’t think I own the whole hallway but I think I have a good argument for this part since, again, it is my locker.”

“A barrel of laughs that will only be funny for about five minutes.” Autumn agreed with a roll of her eyes. “I think it must be. Didn’t the show on the CW have this exact plot? I guess art really does imitate life.”

“Hello?” Autumn waved her hand in front of the girl. She wasn’t exactly in the way,  but any opportunity to snap at someone gave Autumn a reason to live. “You’re in front of my locker, mind moving?” She raised her eyebrows before sighing. “Seriously, I figured with Southbank invading, Northlakers would at least attempt to not annoy each other. Apparently not.”

Auggie groaned loudly at her screaming so close to his face. He had curled himself into a ball when the blankets were ripped away. He outed heavily, trying to get them back  to make himself feel better, at least a little bit of comfort while he was yelled at. “I’m not going to let you get beat up by some guy just because I did Auttie.” He grumbled back, pulling the blanket down a bit to be able to look at her better. “It was my fault anyways. I pushed him into the wall…I just…he threw the pudding at me and I knew it so I snapped.”

“You think I’m going to get beaten up? Ha. There’s one Haverly who won’t stand for this and it’s clearly not the one hiding away in their blankets.” Autumn sighed loudly, trying not to be mad at him, but it was insane he was trying to keep it quiet and not tell her who did it. “You’re fault? How the fuck is this your fault if he threw the - wait, did you say pudding? He threw pudding at you? What the fuck, are we in middle school? He deserved it, Auggie. He deserved to get beat up. But instead it was you and that’s not right.”

“Yes I have,” she explained with a smile. “I like to put random stuff under here and see if anyone notices in between coming down here to get it on. I put a pool floaty under here once. People made out on it,” she explained looking around before finding a nail sticking out of the wall a little. “We can hang it up here.”

“Wait, you did that? I totally -” she stopped, coughing a little to cover her completely changing the direction of the sentence. “Saw that down here. I was wondering who did that.” Her eyes moved to the nail and she grinned. “Perfect. Now that teacher can’t be such a pretentious bitch.”
