You were right to think youād lose respect, this is terrible. There is so much wrong in such a short post, Iām almost impressed. Letās take a quick moment to break down why your post is a pile of horse shit.
With all of this happening to Travis Aaron Wade and the young ladies of this fandom, maybe Creation and other conventions should not allow anyone under 21 to attend these parties.Ā
This kind of mentality essentially blames the victims not the perpetrator.Ā āThis wouldnāt have happened if young ladies werenāt at the convention!ā Well, it also wouldnāt have happened if Travis wasnāt a piece of shit.
Creation and the other companiesĀ should take action, I agree. And the action they should take is banning TRAVIS from conventions, not banning potential prey for him. If Travis is not there to act shady, the problem of his shady behavior at conventions does away, now doesnāt it?
Because itās always the very young ladies who get hurt.
Not all of his victims are under 21. Some of the stories are just more egregious because the girls were/are minors. Plenty of the women Travis has been stalking online are adults, their age did not protect them from his manipulation, deceit, and aggression.Ā
And coming across a line in the article about how society believes men over women is such nonsense. Need I remind everyone of the response Ty Olyson received when he mentioned being roofied.
This is such a bullshit response. The general tone of society believing men over women is not negated by exceptions to the rule. Thatās like sayingĀ āsexism/racism/homophobia doesnāt exist because no one has ever been that way to MEā. The reality still exists. There is a huge stigma over victims coming forward.Ā
Look at how sports-communities react when women accuse star athletes of rape. The number of Bill Cosby accusers was WELL into double digits before the public started to largely accept the idea that the man was a serial rapist, because he was a celebrity, and had aĀ ālegacyā. Even non-famous men get the benefit of the doubt. Go to any reddit thread about sexual assault perpetrated by a man, I guarantee you, you will find a sea of comments about why itās not the manās fault, and youāll find a sea of agreement.Ā
That is the society we live in. A society where socially, victims are put on trial instead of their abusers.Ā āWhat was she wearing? Did she lead him on? She probably just fucked him and regretted it the next day.āĀ
Sexism and victim blaming are a huge problem as you have artfully demonstrated, and much of that burden falls on women, theĀ āweakerā sex, because men are in power.Ā
And for the love of God, go to the cops and have your abusers arrested.
And this, this garbage, disgusting sentiment I have seen over and over again during this situation.
First of all, some of these women have filed police reports. Those reports achieved nothing.Ā
Second of all, people are afraid to report their abusers all the time for a myriad of reasons. Theyāre afraid of being mocked and belittled, theyāre afraid to be told their issue isnāt important, theyāre afraid of retaliation from their abuser, they just want to move on, they donāt have concrete evidence, etc. That does not make what happened to them any less worthy of our attention.
And that is why this has turned into a social media awareness campaign, because spreading the word about this manās weak moral character is all most of these women can do, and they deserve to be heard, and you should be ashamed for trying to make this their fault.
