♡ ENERGY WORK
GROUNDING — simple visualization exercise for releasing excess or negative energy through imagination of nature surrounding you and recharging you with new energies. can be visualized with roots that grow from your body into the earth which serve as an energy channel between you and nature. concentrate on the feeling of the energy transfers, really feel them. practice this once a day.
CENTERING — meditative visualization for centering oneself and gathering lost energy bits that are detached from you, eventually after feeling extreme emotions or performing magick. find and feel your inner center. become aware of your magical existence. can also be visualized with space: planets and stars that revolve around you, the sun, the center of your own galaxy. grounding before centering is recommended.
SHIELDING — strong visualization practice for protecting your energies from draining people and their negative energies. good for empaths. can be visualized through all kind of imaginary shields. the most important thing is that in your imagination you are entirely coated with this shield, no matter if you imagine a bright reflecting light around you, or other protecting elements. no cracks, no splits, you need to be completely shielded. practice this daily and keep it up forever.
CLEANSING — energy removing practice for clearing unwanted negative energies or spirits from an object or space by doing a small ritual such as visualization, burning incense, using effective crystals or chanting cleansing mantras, etc. this type of energy work is perfect for making a place or an item spiritually new again.
ENERGY BALLS — physical and mental practice for visualizing a glowing white energy ball (or any other form of visual energy) between the palm of your hands. rub your hands together and concentrate on the friction and warmth and also on the energies which flow from your arms into your slowly forming and growing energy ball. if you feel the distance between your hands is just right and the energy ball is completed give it a last strong input of energy to seal it.
PROGRAMMING — once you’re really comfortable with making an energy ball, you can also program it with an intent. start with deciding on an intent (example: joy) and really fill your energy ball with these feelings (example: joy, happiness, delight, pleasure, fun, cheer and laughter) by literally trying to feel those things as you do it. also, imagine your white energy ball changes its color; use the color you connect the most to this feeling/intent (example: joy - yellow/else).
CHARGING — energy work practice for infusing an object (such as a crystal, water, or other things) with personal or external energies, like a certain intent. this can be achieved either through forming and programming an energy ball and willing it into the object by visualizing and/or embracing it with your hands; or it can be done by simply visualizing that the object is surrounded by bright energetic light (eventually take a color that matches your intent here as well) and will your intent into the object directly. keep up your imagination of the charging until you feel it’s complete.
SENDING ENERGY — energy work practice for sending programmed energy to someone. create and energy ball and program it with your intent (example: i want my friend to be more happy again). use the person or a representation of the person (like a picture) and visualize your energy ball forming a connection to the desired target and then, shooting straight into the person like a laser beam. as soon as the visualized energy has left your hands completely, your friend is charged with the intent.

Witch tip
✮ Witch tip ✮
Being outside on a windy day is a good way to cleanse yourself. Visualise the wind passing through you and carrying away any negative energy clinging to you.
I start every day by stepping out on my balcony (I’m on the 3rd floor) and just breathing in the cold air and letting the wind float around me... I love it!

magick mulled apple cider
autumn is upon us; this is a recipe for a mulled cider that will bring you magick coziness, prosperity and warmth this season. you will need:
☾ 2 quarts of apple cider (honoring the departed)
☾ ½ cup brown sugar
☾ 1 tsp whole cloves (exorcism, love, protection)
☾ pinch of nutmeg (protection, prosperity)
☾ 3 cinnamon sticks (power, prosperity, passion)
☾ 6-7 whole cardamom pods (love)
☾ 1 orange slice (abundance, happiness)
combine everything in a pot and bring to boiling; cover with lid and simmer on low-medium heat for 20 minutes. stir clockwise now and then. strain out the herbs and enjoy warm on a rainy evening. if you’d like, light brown, black and/or red candles to make your cider drinking into a little ritual.
So, you want to be a witch? #3
Part one talks about spells, wards, sigils, cleansing, divination and more!
Part two talks about grimoires, crystals, wands, altars and more!
It can be easy to feel super overwhelmed when you’re first starting off. This post is for very new witches who have limited knowledge and would like a broad overview! These are my opinions, feel free to disagree but be polite about it.
Please note: Some sections contain information from other posts. All are sourced and linked both within the post and at the bottom!
Coven vs. Solitary?
It is a common belief that you must join a coven to be a witch, but that is not always true.
Many witches are solitary, meaning they primarily do witchcraft on their own. They may however do it with a friend or two on occasion! I am a solitary witch myself.
“Covens are a group of practitioners with like minded interests, ethics, and beliefs. They gather together to perform rituals, to connect, and to learn. They often celebrate sabbats and create their own traditions.” [source]
There are benefits to being solitary, and to being in a coven. It is often a matter of personal preference!
Secular vs. Religious?
Another common belief is that witchcraft = religion.
Witchcraft certainly CAN be a religion for you.
It also can be tied into whatever religion you are already practicing.
However, witchcraft is not inherently religious, and you can keep witchcraft and your religion separate.
Additionally, witchcraft isn’t inherently spiritual, and that also falls under the category of secular.
You can practice witchcraft without worshiping or believing in deities!
Paganism vs. Wicca vs. Witchcraft?
Trust me, this is about as simplified as I can make it while trying to keep it accurate and informative! Basically, people may identify under one of these categories alone, or multiple. They are all valid.
Paganism. Was used as a blanket term for everything that didn’t fit into a tidy box of “main world” religions (anything pre/non-Christian). The phrase paganism is now used to describe anyone who follows ancient religions. It is often connected to nature worship as well. [external source]
Wicca. “A form of Neo-Paganism. The practice of Wicca places religion and magic together. They are linked together and cannot be separated. If you practice traditional Wicca, you cannot do magic without attaching religious reference to it, usually in the form of calling on their Goddess and/or God. There is also a set of rules that many practitioners follow.” [source]
Traditional witchcraft. “Often serves as a reconstruction of what we believe, from the sources of folklore and history we have, witches did and the roles they served. It is based in and inspired by the lore of witches in the Early Modern Period.” [source]
Witchcraft. Is a bit of a blanket term. Although by definition it falls under paganism, not all witches identify as being pagan. There is a diverse group who chooses this label, and some may follow certain rules and guidelines, while others do not.
Curses vs. Hexes vs. Jinxes?
You do not have to do these if you don’t want to. I personally don’t, but fully support those who do perform curses/hexes/jinxes.
Curses. Curses are long-term, potentially life ruining things. They hold the power to do a lot of harm.
Hexes. Often considered a weaker version of a curse, designed to make all the little things go wrong, and are long-term.
Jinxes. More of a momentary, short-term thing. Designed for the target to have all the little things go wrong or have a touch of bad luck.
Enchantments vs. Charms?
The terms can be interchangeable and it is a matter of personal preference. My personal opinion is….
An enchantment is what you DO to an item. It can also be done to a person.
A charm is the end result (an item being enchanted).
Blessings vs. Spells?
Blessings are typically short term and nice little things. A blessing could be “may every light be green for you today”.
To bless something with certain intent is kind of a mix between a blessing and a spell, and can last a long time.
Spells can range in length and intent, and are basically everything not already covered in this post!
