is anyone else’s imposter syndrome less “i’m secretly incompetent/dont belong here and im going to be found out” and more “i’m not doing the thing correctly/i am making supreme social blunders that are annoying that no one is telling me about” like. i know the difference is subtle but it does exist
i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
this also goes for aesthetic or -core titles. 'y2k tank top' is going to get you resellers and fast fashion brands advertising to people looking to meet a current trend. 'thin strap crop tank top' is going to get you a diverse group of results and not upcharge you to hell and back
additionally, shop second hand when you can, second hand and thrift sites typically organize clothes by the cut and color. theyll be more affordable than a depop seller curating you a style to sell you
useful terminology for different kinds of clothing shapes :)

Discovered a witchy tip that I wanted to share but I didn't know where so I'm sending it to you: my favorite brand of pen is Pilot Frixion Erasable pens. The ink is heat reactive and disappears when hot (like from friction when rubbed with a rubber eraser). And today I realized they are great for magic! You can use it to write on things (ex. Fabric) and then heat it up any way you like (ex. A clothing iron) to complete the spellwork.
I had a job interview today that I'm really excited about so I drew sigils on my feet for luck and luck in jobs, that way every step I took charged the sigils and once my feet got warm enough the ink disappeared to cast.
You could also write on like fruits, plastics, or even paper and gently go over it with a candle or lighter flame to erase the ink without having to burn anything. The pens are inexpensive and you can find them basically anywhere that sells office supplies, plus erasable pens are just useful to have around.
Happy witching!
Ooh ooh yes! I have some of those! They're also very useful as fabric markers for stuff like embroidery because they have a very fine tip for intricate designs, and they go away when you iron over them.
I SHALL ADD ON TO YOUR IDEA THOUGH: Did you know that the ink will reappear if it gets cold? Try writing on a piece of paper, do the little friction thing so it goes away, and then put the paper in the freezer for a minute. MAGICAL REAPPEARING INK!
I'm sure you could brainstorm plenty of ways to use that effect too!
Oh ya, those! They’re great for premade spells (or at least that’s how I like to use them.)
I like to take a piece of paper (sticky notes work great) and use them to create like a word cloud using words and phrases that state what I want my spell to do (as detailed or vague as I want). Then I erase the word cloud. This is like the premade bit. Then when I want to cast the spell, I use a regular pen to write my target in the middle of where the word cloud was, and stick the paper in the freezer for a bit. The word cloud reappears surrounding the target.
It’s nice to have some prepped in advance, but uhhh… make sure you have some way to organize them if you do. Otherwise you might end up grabbing the wrong spell.
Other people in a haunted house: Jesus, what was that? Did you hear that? Something's knocking on the wall! We gotta get outta here!
Me: I swear to god if you guys don't knock it off so I can sleep, i will trap you in the linen closet for a week!
Closet witch correspondences: Alum
Alum is a very handy thing to have around, particularly if you are a closeted witch. It’s sold in the spice aisle and is commonly used in pickling recipes. While it’s not in every spice cabinet, no one’s going to bat an eyebrow at it’s appearance.
So, what exactly is alum? The kind that you can buy at your local grocery store is a salt specifically for pickling and preserving foods. It’s MUCH stronger than table salt - or even sea salt - so you’re really not going to want to eat it. (Well, there *is* an exception, but I’ll get to that later.
Alum actually has even more uses commercially, which makes it a great ingredient for spell work. Now, let’s get to the correspondences!
To sour things. It’s a *pickling* salt after all. Add a pinch to your spell when you really want things to turn south in a big way.
Hexing/cursing. Okay, I don’t condone hexing or cursing frivolously, but sometimes it just has to be done. Mix alum with cayenne pepper, chili pepper, black pepper, etc to add a little oomph to your spell.
To promote healing and/or to close wounds (figuartively!). Apparently, a form of alum in the main ingredient in styptic pencil (the ones that stop bleeding from nicks and cuts),

Diy Scrying Ball
I’ve been waiting since last Christmas for my local Dollar Tree to stock the diy snow globes so I could put my master plan into action. The time has finally come!
Last year I created this:
Now I’m gonna step it up a notch and create this:
Lets go!
Materials:
Diy Globe kit
Sparkle glue or Sparkles and Veg Glycerin
Waterproof LED Tea lights
(not pictured)
a drill
a hot glue gun
food coloring
rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer
Bowl
something to stir with
Instructions
so you’re gonna separate the kit into all its parts and then drill a hole into the lid smaller than the bulb of the tealight.
Slowly push the bulb through the hole to open it up, then take it out, hot-glue the area around the bulb then slide it back in, once its in give it a thin layer of hot glue over where the bulb protrudes. Test that the light still works and will fit into the base without issue.
move to a sink, place the globe into a bowl and add some water and color (best to mix the food coloring in water then add to globe)
add in your alcohol, glitter and glycerin (or glitter glue), then top it off with water put back on the bottom.
That’s it!
Happy Scrying
Just saw the DIY snowglobes in Dollar Tree - now is the time!
Rainy day soup for health and happiness
There’s a soft, steady rain falling here today and I decided that it would be a perfect day for a little homemade soup! This is a very easy recipe, all you need is a slow cooker and 6-8 hours to let it cook. No, seriously, if you think you can’t cook, try this recipe. I couldn’t boil water properly ten years ago and recipes like this are how I started learning and building confidence in my cooking skills.
I always make a double batch and freeze leftovers for lunches throughout the coming days. This makes A LOT, freezes well and I’ve kept it frozen for up to a month (it never lasts very long at our house, so I’m not sure how long exactly it would keep).
You will need:
A slow cooker
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (raw, no need to cut up)
1 lb of fresh mushrooms (cleaned and sliced or chunked into bite size pieces)
Approx. 1 dozen baby carrots (cleaned and cut into bite size pieces as needed)
3 ribs of celery (cleaned and cut into bite size pieces)
1 medium yellow onion, diced
1 tsp basil
1 tsp thyme
1 bay leaf
4 cloves garlic, minced (I just use the pre-minced packed in oil)
salt and pepper to taste (if you have no idea, start with ½ tsp pepper and 1 tsp salt and adjust as needed)
6-8 cups water
Clean and cut up the carrots, celery and mushrooms into bite size pieces. They can be different sizes, shapes, it doesn’t matter. Dump everything in the slow cooker, add 6-8 cups of water (basically until all ingredients are submerged), put the lid on and cook on low for 8-10 hours OR high for 4-6 hours (depending on how quick you want it done).
Then, remove the chicken breasts and shred/tear/rip them into bite size pieces. Return to slow cooker and replace the lid. Turn heat to low (if it’s not already) and let it cook another 20 minutes or so.
Serve over rice or with fresh baked bread.
Note: I buy my chicken in bulk and freeze it and often don’t think to defrost it in advance. If this happens, you can quick defrost it partway in the microwave and then just turn your slow cooker to HIGH for 6-8 hours. Check that the chicken appears done when you remove it for shredding (should be no traces of pink and all juices should be clear). If you have any doubt that it is done, return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for another hour. (Don’t worry, you can’t overcook this soup unless you’re getting up around the 12 hour mark!)
This is a great recipe to throw together in the morning before heading out for the day. By the time you get home, it should be done and all you have to do is shred the chicken up and enjoy! (Not to mention that feeling when you walk through the front door and the house smells like home cooked goodness!)
Correspondences:
Basil: Protection, happiness, peace, luck
Bay leaf: Cleansing, healing, prosperity
Thyme: Strength, health, healing
Garlic: healing, protection luck
Finding quartz
Hey, did you know that you can often find quartz right in your very own driveway?
Yep, that right, free pretties! All you have to do us pick them up.
See, the crushed stone that is sold for driveways very often contains pieces of quartz. Sometimes, it is attached to the other rock type (granite usually in my area). Over time, it will break off from the other rock cleanly and work it’s way to the top of the gravel.
The best time to check for quartz is right after a rain, which will rinse the dirt off and make it stand out. But you can find it any time if you pay attention. (The picture shows what I found in my own driveway today, just walking to my mailbox.)
Soak the quartz in enough water tho cover it, with a couple of drops of mild dish detergent or soap for at least an hour. Then scrub gently with an old toothbrush to remove the dirt. Repeat if necessary, then allow to air dry.
And voila! Beautiful chunks of natural quartz to add to your collection!
Note: Make sure you have permission to scavenge first, never take more than a few pieces from any area at any time, and always research the safety of immersing crystals in water or other materials.
Guys, I just found the COOLEST resource.
The Chicago library just posted a bunch of old manuscripts online to get the public’s help with translation and transcription. One of these manuscripts was “The Book of Magical Charms”, an anonymous grimoire from 17th century England.
This is PURE CHRISTIAN WITCHERY. It’s got spirit conjurings, (use with care), sigils, (also use with care), spells and potions, (USE WITH CARE don’t be eating anything a 17th century manuscript says to eat without researching it first), prayers galore. Some of it is in Latin, but if you hit the translator tab, a bunch of people have already translated some significant chunks. Me myself will be digging out my Latin textbooks because I am THAT LEVEL OF NERD.
GO WILD GUYS, IT’S RIGHT HERE: http://publications.newberry.org/dig/rc-transcribe/charms

Keep Out Spell
A spell to keep a specific person from trespassing on your property. You may be able to tweak it to cover any trespasser, but I can’t speak as to how effective that would be.
This is a good spell for closet witches, since the items are extremely available and shouldn’t raise any suspicions on their own (most are probably in your spice rack right now!)
Note that all ingredients should be…
