I ❤︎ old men. My work is usually pretty story heavy, I enjoy having some kind of literary theme to think on, as well as having some kind of twist, whether that be in character traits, location or relationships, that I can focus on. I cannot just write smut, unfortunately.

I am a student; English and creative writing major and minor respectively, which is kinda obvious given my love of classic lit and stories. That being said I am probably writing to procrastinate on my work. I write my x readers from a young woman’s perspective because that’s what I am. Yes most of it is taboo or whatever idc.

I have been neglecting Through the Tides, but I am gonna try and get a chapter out before I leave on Friday because who knows what my first week back at school will look like.

I believe I start classes on the 24th, so I'm not too worried.

Either way, I will be back in Texas, so if nothing else, the spirit of Joel Miller will overtake me and I'll hopefully lock in.

How I've been moving this summer fr

lowkey need to replay rdr2 to remember what and when stuff happens to accurately write alongside it.

I doubt anyone's looking too close, but it's one of those things I need accurate or ill die. It's in Clemens Point but the timeline is so jumbled in my mind.

Has anyone ever written a detailed summary of the game?

Having some minor writers block, not because I don’t know where I’m headed but more because I lost my rhythm. Stupid wisdom teeth, knocking me down a week.

OH. Also I changed my username. Hopefully I don’t confuse anyone. Previously was lode-st0ne everywhere.

I have been able to write little slideshows I’ve been posting on TikTok the past two days, so that’s at least something.

The first one I made kinda blew up, which was unexpected. The people of tt are much more demanding than on ao3 lol.

Anyway. I think for now I’m gonna take it easy and keep doing what I’m doing. I want to update my long fics but I don’t want to burn myself out from them.

I think B&B is gonna go on a wee hiatus (unless I get the urge to write for it) because I like the idea I have but its a little different than my other stuff, and I think I jumped into it too quickly after HD.

I like writing with things to wrestle with, imagery or location, something. I got all of that out of my system with HD, so writing something so similar, just darker and sex focused feels futile and uninteresting to me when I have a Maine AU Joel and Vampire AU Arthur that are miles more interesting.

Damn I really gotta put this energy into an actual novel...

Red Dead 2 Appreciation Rant

I'm about 1.5k into the first chapter of a Arthur x reader fic, and I really forgot how much I love to think deeply about this story.

Not only is the story beautiful and heartbreaking, but it sticks with you. There is so, so much depth and analysis to be done that the story is not just the 50 odd hours you spend completing it.

What sticks out the most to me is all the biblical themes, both in your face and subtle.

I don't know of another story, so mainstream, in recent western history that uses Christianity this much, or this beautifully and positively. Unless you are in some literature class, it's easy to forget how prevalent the bible is to narratives. Especially when Christianity in other spaces, ie. online and in certain loud practices is automatically seen as a negative due to its misuse or individuals disrespect on both sides.

There's a book, "How to Read Literature Like a Professor," By Thomas Foster that really hammers in the point that all stories copy and respond to others, namely Shakespeare and the Bible, which are so deeply embedded into cultural memory and story that they are unavoidable.

In the game everyone is a parallel to someone else, everyone's name can be traced back to a prophet, missions and dialogue reference scripture and myth. They hint at the themes and foreshadow.

You cannot fully analyze and understand the characters and metaphors of rdr2 without having or learning some knowledge of the bible or the church alongside it, just as it is easier to be a good English student with this knowledge.

Once you see it, you cannot go through the game without thinking about it. Without going "oh wow someone thought about this really hard." And I just love that.

Anyway, this all stemmed from me wanting to write about vampire Arthur, which obviously calls upon me to get deep into religion as a parallel. Deep in the game too, which is even more religion.

So cool. So, so cool.

I knowww I’ve got two WIPs already, as well as my new slideshows but I’m itching to write something with vampires. I have a loose concept of vampire Arthur Morgan that I really wanna start toying with.

No idea when I will post next, as I’m getting my wisdom teeth taken out Monday. So we will see.

I put HD on there when I finished it, but now my two WIPS are there too.

I usually aim for 3-3.5k words, but when I first started writing fics I only wrote 1, but the bump up was really easy I found (obvi, 1k is nothing) but I’m wondering if I should try and aim for more per chapter, and how i could achieve that.

Finding myself dwelling on the reader's relationships in my fic outside of the main ship and then going, "does anyone actually care? Like they are here for Joel Miller x reader...."
