I made a mixtape on suan.fm of songs that remind me of the Avarice AU! I’ve had the list sitting around in my drafts for a while, so I figured I might as well actually use it.

I have a feeling this is going to be a dumb question, but what are Stan's thoughts on his object form?

He’s pretty okay with it, honestly. It’s just an object, and it’s a thing he can do that Ford can’t, not a twin thing.

He’s a grown man with a good sense of his own identity and self - he might have a small freakout the first time he does it, but as soon as he gets back to normal he probably goes “… well, that’s a thing I can do now” and tries to figure out a way to scam tourists with it. He also doesn’t have anywhere near the Bill-related trauma about colourful polygons with pipe-cleaner arms that Ford or Dipper would.

(Ford hits him with a broom the first time he sees it, stops when Stan asks him what the heck was that for, poindexter, I’m just getting a Pitt and haven’t broken anything lately???)

The Mystery Shack never reopened after the event that most of the world called the Transcendence. The man who had kept it going for thirty years was in no position to continue doing so, and those who might have stepped up to the plate under different circumstances didn’t feel the need to take his place. The world didn’t need fake anomalies when real ones could be found anywhere and everywhere.

This isn’t to say, however, that the building became solely a private residence.

It was Ford’s idea to make the place a museum, a showcase of the grandest items that Gravity Falls had to offer--not a tourist trap, but a legitimate purveyor of knowledge, led by one of the world’s leading researchers of the paranormal (and assisted by one of the world’s leading members of the paranormal).

The name, however, was all Stan’s idea.

They had bandied about various permutations involving the name “Mystery Shack” or “Pines Family” for days, with a different family member poking a hole in the idea each time, when Stan said, “Hey, everyone outside Gravity Falls thinks I kicked the bucket, why not just name it after me?”

Nobody could find a flaw in Stan’s logic.

Soon enough, after a few weeks of hard work remodeling the place, the Stanley Pines Memorial Museum and Archives was up and running.

Willow was the first of the triplets to speak.

She said her first word during what had been a fairly ordinary dinner until Willow dropped a milk-filled sippy cup off her high chair, where it proceeded to spill across the floor.

Before anyone else could react, before any of the adults could begin to clean up the spill, Willow let out her own response, screaming with all the might that the year-old infant could muster.

“FUCK!”

A shocked silence fell over the table... and then, after a few seconds, all eyes looked to Stan.

Stan was as surprised as the rest of them- he certainly hadn’t meant it to happen, but... well, that day Stan learned a valuable lesson about not swearing around Willow, even when the rest of the world couldn’t hear.

(After a few harrowing days where Willow repeated the word incessantly as her response to practically everything, grinning wildly every time, it fell out of her vocabulary, to be replaced by more age-appropriate words. But the tale was told again and again within the family, to the embarrassment of both Stan and Willow in later years.)

In his career as a paranormal educator, Dipper publishes a book, perhaps a layperson's guide to interacting with the paranormal safely and ethically. Its dedication: "To Grunkle Ford, without whose intellect I would not have this knowledge to share, and to Grunkle Stan, without whose courage I would not be alive to share it."

To answer a question on Avarice...

Hold onto your hats ladles and jellyspoons, because I accidentally wrote a 5 page fic to answer this one.

Summer was coming to a close, and with the twins’ birthday celebrations planned and ready to go, there was one more event on the calendar before the school year started up again.

“Stanley! What did you do with my tent?”

“… Sixer why do you need that. It’s in the attic. And why is it flourescent orange with green squiggles?”

“For Combusting Dude, what else? And they are not ‘squiggles’ it’s an energy direction array to ensure maximum rest from minimum sleep. Also a vomit repellant.”

“You. Want to go to Combusting Dude.”

“Of course, I used to do this every year! I can’t believe you didn’t tell me it was still going, I have 30 years to catch up on. Where did you put my giant self-propelling stag beetle?”

“Well I originally put it in the back room but then it set the curtains on fire so, uh… Part of it is in the flatypus, one bit’s holding up the toepher, and you’re sitting on the rest of it.”

Ford looked down, and admittedly the wooden structure underneath him did have certain stag-beetle-esque qualities.
