I reckon shit’s finished with Erdogan. He ain’t got anywhere to hide, they’ve shut down FB/YT/Twitter. This was carefully planned and precise–Turkish military don’t fuck around, and they’ve got the police backing them up to boot. They’ve had enough of his corruption, authoritarianism, and the politicization of religion in a deeply secular state. 

But what’s gonna happen as a result? That’s the big question, and one I’m almost afraid to ask. EU’s been depending on Erdogan for their deal and this sets up an entirely new dynamic for the Syrian civil war. 

This is big, people. 2016′s a formative year for the future in more ways than one.

Well your predictions did not happened at all, which shows how little you actually know about Turkey. Non of the senior military officers were involved, and started organizing army to respond AGAINST coup (highest ranking plotter is actually a several colonels) non of the police branches actually supported and result? Most of the occupied areas are taken back and plotters are arrested.

Single-handed take-downs of the Walls of Ba Sing Se

The parallelism here articulated a kind of antithesis I don’t think we’ve seen so clearly illustrated yet: The White Lotus and The Red Lotus are opposites.

In the antebellum and war times of the ATLA timeline, the Order of the White Lotus worked in secrecy as a clandestine organization. So, when the Order’s members finally acted upon the world, their act was one of the grandest displays of power. Iroh, The Grand Lotus, and his fellow Old Masters harnessed the power of The Great Comet to effect great change.

The Red Lotus foils this. They are so advanced, so honed upon their quest for change, that even such a colossal feat as tearing down the Walls of Ba Sing Se happens for them with little effort and in virtually no time at all.

It makes such sense to me that the greatest Firebender of his age, Iroh, couldn’t accomplish this task until the arrival of the Comet, whereas an Earthbender gifted with the power to manipulate energy as a Firebender would, Ghazan, could accomplish this any day.

I'm not so sure about the power difference. I mean, the wall Iroh teared down was 'Outer Wall', which was built to stop outside attacks and protect Ba Sing Se from Enemy Forces whereas the wall Ghazan teared down was 'Inner Wall', which was built to establish public order and to separate different classes.
