//ooc lil update
Sorry for just up and disappearing for a bit, life got hard and I don’t have object permanence. I’m going to go through, make an actual tagging system, update things, and make notes of plot points I don’t want to forget before going back into roleplaying again. Thanks for understanding. //
You're fortunate that I love bad puns lol
It’s a great pun, it took me a long time to come up with.
If it's because it doesn't find you funny then it has no sense of humor.
Exactly. It’s more likely it doesn’t like me because I’ve escaped the blood ocean multiple times when no one else has. Pissed at my skill!
Ava is beamed with a gif of a skeleton doing a weird little dance
…. Odd. Very odd.
"the light doesn't like me waaaah" it probably doesn't think you're funny enough.
I’m hilarious!
What’s the deal with food in the vacuum of space? It always sucks!
Just a check in- how is tha family of salmons doing?
They’re doing good, no weird mutations from what I can tell. Just. Normal adjacent salmon. Very tiny.
With a soft—almost affectionate?—rumbling hum a familiar massive form approaches from the depths, looking both exhausted and slightly different than usual.
Even his not-voice sounds tired when he finally speaks.
Sorry I wasn't here. How are you doing?
Ava peaks her head over a rock ledge to look down at them. One of her eyes glow, the other is still blind.
Physically? I’m not in any pain so that’s new. Swimming is hard, I keep bumping into shit.
He waves up at her, new ear-fins just barely poking out from the floating cloud of his hair. His left eye had changed too, the pupil still an eerie luminous white but the iris now an inhuman gold.
That's- that's good. Uh, try not thinking about it too much? I just kind of... knew what to do if I let myself.
Have you tried not thinking about something? It makes you think about it. Anyways, how was… talking to it? You look different.
She motions towards the new ears. The eye is also new, but Simon probably doesn’t know about that yet.
Like being ripped apart down to the atom, thoroughly catalogued, and rebuilt slightly to the left. Being completely known inside and out in a way that would make anyone's mind crumble to contemplate for too long.
Same's last time.
One ear flicks as he reaches up to touch it, a low rumble bubbling out of him at the feeling.
... Yeah. Not- not sure how to feel about that. But I mean- you don't have to think about walking, right? You just do it. S'like that.
Right. Ok more specifically my issue is not being able to tell how close a rock is to my face, since walking without depth perception and swimming without it are two different beasts. I learned a lot of cheats on the ship, and learned to walk it with my eyes close. This is… more open.
She gestures to the empty ocean around them before putting her arms down.
I’m just going to need to take it slow… Speaking of eyes, are you aware your left eye is golden?
Mmh.
Doesn't have any advice to help with that, unfortunately—his eye might look fucked up, but he can still see out of it.
At the mention of it, though, he lifts his hand to poke at his cheek.
... It is?
A massive, burning golden eye, staring down at him from the red storm above-
He flinches, shuddering at the sudden flash and pulsing pain.
Shit.
Are you ok? Is it hurting you? I can get a closer look at it if you want.
Ava offers a hand. Whether just to hold or to help him up to her ledge is up to interpretation.
No, it's- it's fine. Not my eye that hurts.
He waves off her concern with a huff. Gaze flicking between her hand and her face, he tilts his head curiously.
You sure there's room for me up there?
It’s a big ledge, you can probably get most of the way up here.
She moves her tail so there’s more room for Simon.
After a brief moment of consideration he reaches up, grabbing her forearm and hauling himself onto the ledge with a flick of his tail and a fluid twist to keep his spines pointing away from her. He's long enough that even coiled up, part of his tail hangs off the edge, swaying slightly in the current.
A tense feeling settles on him as he suddenly has no idea what to do with himself. Now that they're on equal footing again, his presence feels unnecessary.
I. Hope it wasn't too. Uncomfortable.
It… passed. That’s what’s important.
She tries to give him some kind of a smile to reassure him. Her tail flicks and she looks away.
I definitely think the light or ocean or whatever doesn’t like me. Can’t say I blame it.
Ava can now sense how the meat goes squish underneath her.
Oh this is awful.
Ava tries to stay up and not touch the ground anymore. This form definitely is better for staying on the ground, so floating like this is not easy.
Been a bit, things have been hectic, but I come bearing seal images!
This is a Caspian Seal! Cute little guys!
Awww it’s got such big eyes. It’s so fuzzy and round, adorable. I want an army of them! Cutie little babies.
Hello! It's Aubrey again!
I've recently had a friend join me on the ship! The eldritch glowstick tried to cause problems twice, but I've gotten it to stay away from my friend!
Anyways, how have things been on your end?
- @aubrey-of-enceladus
Static crackles through their connection.
Wow- that’s a weird feeling. Things have been… weird. On my end. I got changed into a fish? I’ve been swimming in circles to get used to it before doing anything else. I’m glad you stayed away from the light.
Damn that disco ball has a thing for fish.
The first time it tried shit with me because it seemed to be upset I said I wasn't interested. Thing has made my new friend's first week on board intense, to say the very least.
It’s connected to an ocean so it makes some sense. How’s your ship anyways? Do you have some sort of renewable rations, enough for two people? I don’t think I asked about schematics before.
Oh yeah! I've got a good amount of food stored, and I've made contact with people who have large amounts of supplies.
I also have a few potato plants, so I have some renewable food supplies as well. Benefit of my original home having been a station dedicated to researching food production outside of any astral body pre Quiet Rapture.
Right, your station. They’re stable right? Renewable everything? Are you still in contact with them at all?
They're definitely stable, and incredibly careful with things. But I'm not in contact with them anymore. Don't really want to try and contact them either, if I'm being honest.
…. I have a dog here, who needs a good home since I can’t take them in. If you could get in contact with your station again I was going to ask if they would take them in. But if they’re that careful it probably wouldn’t work out since they’re slightly magical. Which…. Sounds insane, but whatever.
I mean, I can always try. There's one person from home who might both somehow pick up my message and be willing to take a slightly magic dog.
If you could, please do. I need to make sure Fenrir is well taken care of.
Yeah! I'll see if she's listening to the radio signal I told her to use when I left.
Cool name for the dog!
Thanks! It’s from an old, old Norse myth. In the myth, the dog god Fenrir helps with the apocalypse because they were chained up and not given the attention they needed. It was implied the puppy I was given could destroy another universe, so we need to make sure it has a good life so that doesn’t happen.
Oh I love that! I'm gonna try making contact with my childhood friend real quick, see if she's listening and willing to take a magic dog. One moment!
A few minutes pass as Aubrey tried the radio frequency they'd told their friend to listen to in case Aubrey wanted to contact them. Success!
Well, I have good news!
You got through and they’ll take in a dog?
The very end of her tail flicks. Betraying her happiness at Fenrir getting a better home.
Exactly that! She's more than willing. I had a feeling that if I could contact her she'd say yes. Shall I come get Fenrir?
That’s great, yes please come get them. They’re in a ruined sub, you should be able to see it with some scanners. Everything for taking care of them is inside. Thank you, so much.
Of course! Why wouldn't I?
I want to help others where I can!
I'll be right there!
Aubrey sets off, soon arriving to pick up Fenrir. She exits her ship to get the pupper.
Still, thank you.
The puppy sits at the front of the ship. They still have their dog jacket on, to stay warm while their coat comes in. The puppy hasn’t moved around very much, just waiting for their person to come back.
Oh, sweet thing. Glad I managed to get something I can offer this little friend as a treat. Multiversal kebab seller, thank you for providing me with chicken.
Aubrey kneels down and holds her hand out, offering a bit of chicken and making friendly sounds at Fenrir.
Fenrir approaches carefully and snags the chicken from her before dashing to their dog bed with it. This dog rarely gets any meat, they weren’t passing this up.
Aubrey follows carefully, making sure to not make any sudden movements.
Hey little friend. You like that? I hear your name's Fenrir. I'm Aubrey.
The puppy perks up and looks at Aubrey. They’re still being cautious with this new human. They growl if she tries to touch them or the dog bed.

What do the Salmons eat? Is it like a symbiotic relationship their the nibble on your scalp and teeth and eat dead skin?
I think they eat whatever they can catch. There’s not much of an ecosystem around so I assume when I crawl around it makes some meat chunks float.
They have sharp little teeth, they are not biting me or I’m biting them back.
What does it feel like to be the home of 5 salmons?
Well they aren’t as great as a dog but they’re a nice family of salmon. This isn’t exactly their environment so I think they like hiding in my hair.

How big are you compared to big Simon? Cause he's absolutely massive from what I can tell.
I’m definitely smaller than him, but not by a lot. I don’t know exactly how much, we don’t have something for scale. Other than salmon. I’m a lot of salmon shorter than him.
