"I still miss the target most of the time."

[She demonstrates. Throwing 6 knives towards an unmoving target. 3 of them miss. None of them hit in the center of the target, and one is right on the edge. Even with Daedalus guide she is still very stiff in her movements. Using more force than necessary to propel then forward.]

[All the missed knives appear back at her feet. She walks over to get the few that actually managed to hit. Including Simons. Handing a set of 6 knives to him.]

"You're tense. Thinking about it too hard. Need to relax." He takes the knives, dropping them into the pouch on his belt before slipping his own back into its place. And then shifts his weight as if to come closer, before pausing. Hand empty, head tilted slightly.

"Can I? It's easier if I can show you what I mean."

[She looked at him. She gave him the knives of course he could- oh right. Her stance. Probably wanted to hold her hand through it like she was a child.]

[She breathes out.]

"Alright. Just say what you want me to do."

[She tried to look relaxed. Like asking for help for something she probably should know dident annoy her at all. This was perfectly fine.]

radius. who/what do they reach for first in a crisis ?

He's learned by now the only one he can rely on is himself. If he feels threatened, he'll still go for one of his weapons on instinct, but emotional distress will always be the sheath on his cowl.

patella / kneecap. how compliant/obedient are they, who will they kneel for ?

Obeying orders without question is what got him here. He can follow commands, but there has to be a good reason for it.

metatarsals. if they could disappear for a day, where would they run ?

There's nowhere that he could go. Eden wouldn't take him back, the COI hates him, and what would be the point in stealing a ship and heading out into the lightless void? Even if it gives him the closest thing he could get to freedom, there's nothing to be found out there.

A lot of things. He has a hard time expressing his own needs—he's supposed to be resilient, supposed to be useful, if he needs more than he can provide he'll simply do without. He's also bad at verbally expressing how he feels about people. He'll show it, he's very acts of service, but saying it is difficult.

[She looks very tired. Her whole body aches after her continues training. Just- got happy to see Simon. Seeing someone in the in-between.]

"Sorry. Forgot to ask first."

[She dosent really sound sorry.]

"Mm." He doesn't sound too bothered by it, at least.

"Heard you were learning to throw knives. Want some help?"

"Depends on the help your offering."

[Ava let go. Pulling out a knife from her clipboard.]

"The watchers created someone named Joe for my to throw knives after. I... declined the offer."

[Ava gives a look that could be interpreted as "please dont ask me to throw knives at you."]

"Having been practicing against some wooden target blogs for now."

[She positions herself a bit away from Simon.]

"Doubt my form is perfect. Have practiced for about a week. A watcher made the knives teleport back if I missed a target."

[Ava demonstrates. Throwing the knife into the void. A moment passes. Then she squats down and retrieves the knife from the "floor" that silently reappeared there.]

He hums, squaring his shoulders and watching.

"... Wouldn't pass muster, but not too bad."

His thumb slides over the holster on his belt, before he cocks his head.

"I could show you."

[Ava looked a bit tense from the comment. Seemed training none stop on her own hadn't helped much.]

"I would appricate that. Think I know the general direction of the targets if you want to use thouse?"

[She held the knife in her hand. Switching between a tight and loose grip.]

"I also have different types of throwing knives. Weighted or shaped different and so on. Have been switching between using all off them as I am unsure what would be best for the task at hand."

[The task being their "prison break" distraction.]

The sudden tension gets a slight wince—it's not the first time he's seen it.

"Pick one you're comfortable with and stick to it. Get good at that, and then you can try different ones."

"Right. Think I will go back to the first set then. Had more practice with thouse."

"This general direction. 3 stationary ones. And a moving target block... Just. Look for a human sized enclosure with a big water container on the side."

[No one had removed the human sized hamster enclosure the watchers made for Joe... Ava had already started walking.]

"Long distance weapons have never been my ... favorite. Have had some close combat training. The further a target gets from me the harder it is for me to hit them- calculate the right speed and distance. But I cant let the guards get close again."

That's definitely a new one. But he's not going to ask questions, quickly catching up to walk just behind and to the side of her.

"If... If it's easier-" A sigh. "Fuck, I wish we knew more about what to expect. But I'll do my best to keep them from getting close."

"Every time I hear news from there things seem to get worse."

[Ava began to walk faster. Tense.]

"Last I heard was a.... conversation a watcher informed me off. Mentioning figuring out what made us tick. Something about a noise... it implies they know the part of me they have isent the full thing. Which might make them think I am coming to get myself back eventually. Which is bad."

[Deep breaths.]

"Wish I knew how they figured it out. Dark tried to help but well- their busy with its own preparations."

[The enclosure could be spotted in the distance. A giant metal cage with container sized water holder and a metal straw to drink from? The bottom covered in something organic. A hiding hut and wheel to run on. It was empty. On a closer investigation one might be able to notice where Joe had stood.]

[Ava ignored it. Steering future to the right to get to the targets. Good thing she had practiced her form a bit- still probably an embarrassment compared to Simons skills.]
