BRIEFING ROOM: Long term followers of this site will note we have rebranded to our old (and familiar name) from years gone by- Heli-Graphics Australia. It’s a bit of a long story and to much for here on the web site but we have reacquired the name which was sold back in the late 1990′s and it’s great to have it back trading and registered with ASIC. With the reintroduction comes some new technologies. Drones or (UAVs) have become an integral part of aerial photography, filming and specialist surveying, mapping and scientific applications along with SAR operations. While we have had some previous experience in drones, all our work to date has been performed from helicopters with the occasional fixed wing aircraft. New for 2022 we have now introduced drone UAV aircraft into our weekly operations and as an early introduction have put up the first batch of “scenic” drone shots taken at the Aussies SLSA event at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.
This technology allows us to provide an aerial platform lower than can often be provided by the helicopter. Yes the helicopter still remains the backbone of our operation.
WEATHER: Fine however there is a strong southerly change later today.

LOCATION: Broadbeach Gold Coast Queensland. Australia.
FINALS: As pretty as the set up looks, the entire event has once again been moved south to Kirra due to forecast rough surf and dangerous conditions in the coming days. For the life of me, I DO NOT understand why SLSA chooses Kurrawa as the preferred considering the event is often cancelled or relocated due to condition, not to mention the fatalities since the 1990′s.
AP503 5 | April 2022
LOCATION: Gold Coast Airport, QLD. Australia.
BRIEFING ROOM: Another major weather event has hit South East Queensland and the Northern NSW regions, and in the days to follow will extend down the east coast to Sydney. This is the mix of three trough lines merging creating a major low pressure system and what has been described as a “rain bomb” over South East Queensland- it is not a cyclone (which normally presents with gale force winds). In actual fact there has been almost no wind for days which has contributed to the massive rain system hanging around and the huge rain fall totals we have witnessed along with record flooding in some areas. It is rare that the Gold Coast airport is effected with this level of flooding however today it is closed mainly due to the availability for aircraft parking.
WEATHER: Wet, wet, wet.
