relieved that some of the people hazel was encountering were nice, she sighed happily as the book entered her hands. “avery, that was it!” she exclaimed, pleased that she remembered somewhat. “i’m super busy always, but if you need anyone for anything, you can totally grab me. my number’s on the phone tree we have set up.”
the corners of avery’s lips lifted slightly when hazel seemed to recognize her name and she quickly worked to lessen her surprise and flattery--alongside a healthy dose of discomfort. “it’s alright, i usually don’t have much free time either,” the young woman conjured her best effort at a comfortable smile before continuing, “thank you, i really do appreciate it... so, what’s that book about?” not one to read much fiction, avery didn’t recognize the cover and was interested in what drew hazel to that particular find.

the girl sighs before giving the girl a nod, she was always being asked if she was okay. she knew that the girl was only trying to help her out though every now and then the question becomes a bit overbearing. she studies the books in her hand before hugging them tightly, “it’s alright. i’m okay, just a little sore is all.” it was a lie. she wasn’t exactly sore, but scarred from what happened to her only a few months ago. “thank you for helping me with my books, i’m georgia.”
“of course, of course. i’m avery.” checking to make sure the girl could stand alright, avery collected her books and handed them back over. avery couldn’t place her finger on it, but she thought that maybe she recognized the young woman from campus. then again, her social circle wasn’t the largest so it may have just been a familiar passing face. “do you want any help getting to where you’re going?” it was a mere second before avery realized that perhaps she was being a bit overwhelming and added, “only if you want, of course, i don’t mean to step on any toes.”
kncxy:
after a long lesson, the girl was finally out and was ready to return to her dorm. georgia’s eyes fall onto the baseball field she once played on and finds herself getting distracted. out of now where, her along with her books crash to the ground and a sharp pain shoots through her leg. the girl instantly cries out, before grabbing it tightly. “good going, georgia !” she roared to herself and suddenly feels a presence hovering over her. she looks up before giving them a weak smile, “hey. i’m — i’m fine.”
“are you sure? i can try and help or...” avery trailed off, attempting to think of something she could do to help the other girl while all the same cursing herself for not taking the emergency medicine seminar offered last weekend. continuing to berate her own lack of knowledge on impromptu splinting, she stooped down to help collect the other girl’s books. “are you sure you’re okay?”
abxrnxthys:
“it’s not totally a case of ‘need’, but i’d really like it if you could grab me ‘far from the madding crowd’ i’d be eternally grateful,” hazel pointed toward the book, smiling as she recognised the face. “you’re the new addition to science squad, right? i’m hazel, i’ve been involved since my freshman year too, i’m glad you joined.”
“of course,” avery stood on her toes and grabbed the book with relative ease, handing it over to the other girl. expecting to just help with a book and be on her way, avery was once again caught off guard when hazel inquired about her. “oh...thank you, i really enjoy it so far. i’m avery, by the way.”

there was one time avery was around when onyx had gotten into a fight with what seemed like a handful of guys and even though she isn’t one to be confrontational, she quietly admired the way the other woman stood up for herself.

reaching up for a book, hazel sighed as she realised it would be impossible. there was no way she was getting the already-pissed-off library assistant to come over again and help her, but the thought of giving up was not her cup of tea. “here goes,” she murmured to herself, beginning to climb the bookcase before her eyes spotted someone taller nearby. “hey! think you could help me out?” hazel called, hoping to catch their attention.
seeing the young woman attempt to climb the bookshelves left avery a bit shellshocked. in all the time she had spent in the library, she had never seen anyone so determined to reach a book--including herself. so, when the other woman called out--seemingly to her--for help, avery was caught quite off guard. “oh, of course! which one did you need?”
