Kon is part worldspirit in the same way his mother is. In a sense he has two mothers because of exactly how Erda interacts with the warp—Nostramo became intimately tied to him physically and spiritually the moment it used a fragment of itself to give him a physical form. And Nostramo is only marginally kinder to him than the rest of its children.
Like he has three parents and two of them are cruel bastards lol
Thinking about how in one verse Kon ends up being violently hating anyone who reminds him of Emps. And how Roboute never had a real chance of making peace because no matter how many apologies he gives, 40k Kon will always see him as just another abusive master. Because they're both their father's sons in all the worst ways.
( The "solution" they stumbled upon was the same sweet spot dad found where the family lunatic remained beaten down enough that revolt is unlikely... but also not desperate enough that he stoped caring about the consequences. And then keeping him there for 400 miserable years becuase they love him. )
40k Kon generally dgaf about his own legion's loyalists. Those clearly ain't his kids and he wants nothing to do with them. The ones he wants wiped from the face of the galaxy are those who left for Istvaan and then the Imperial Palace because those particular loyalists were radicalized in a manner thar would have them leading a pointless crusade against Nostramo. Their primarch did not care enough to stop them at the time and well... Kon very much wishes he did.
( Keep in mind that Kon didn't bother to show up to a number of major battlefields in that verse. He does not care about Istvaan for the same reason his brothers do. If questioned, he will say that he wishes Corax and Angron and the rest of this wretched family died there. His loyalties will always belong to someone who hated the Emperor from the beginning and if his brothers are stupid enough to die for some impossible ideal, good riddance. )

OK I keep seeing people refer to the Michigan parasite outbreak and then others will chime in “it’s in my state too!” so to clarify this for everyone it is a NATIONWIDE outbreak reported in 31 US states as of today, July 12th 2026. There is no reason to assume it is not present in the rest of them
NBC News’ tally shows at least 26 states have reported cases of the parasitic stomach illness, as health authorities race to find the source
The CDC is tracking cases but they are significantly lagging behind the states on numbers (their data is weeks behind) so it’s probably going to be most effective to check your individual state’s infectious disease tracking.
This is a parasite that usually causes about 3000 cases of illness per year in the USA, Michigan currently has reported about 2900 (the confusion about “Michigan outbreak” is because Michigan is the first that caught an uptick in cases and has been very proactive about trying to trace them). Last official update from Massachusetts was 18 cases here centered in Greater Boston. The CDC recommends NOT assuming there are no sources of the parasite in your state even if no cases have been reported.
It isn’t an unknown illness but it is an unusual quantity of cases, and the fact that they haven’t been able to pin down the source after weeks of tracking is what makes it particularly concerning this year (harder to contain).
Wash your hands, wash your produce, cook it ideally, and advocate for farm workers to have access to safe and hygienic toilet facilities
that last part is extra important. nearly every one of these produce outbreaks are because of poor hygenic practices on the fields, and particularly, because field workers do not have adequate access to bathrooms. nobody wants to poison your food, but they often don't have a choice. they also often lack proper access to water, cooling equipment (such as sun hats and portable fans), and management; this can make it significantly harder to think clearly and make a wise decision, let alone survive the day. when this comes up in conversation, call this out. make sure everyone around you KNOWS that the reason the lettuce is constantly unsafe is because farms are not giving a shit about worker welfare, and the people growing and picking your lettuce have to walk ungodly distances in 100+ degree weather without water just to take a shit. oh, and if they DO choose to do that, they may be punished for taking an unscheduled break.
if you wanna go further, let everyone know that the majority of labor laws have an exception carved out for agricultural workers.
Republicans on Capitol Hill are starting to talk about one facet of immigration reform: how to expand the popular H-2A visa program for farm
Worth keeping up with developments in the fight over farm workers’ visas because while trying to get legal documents for workers, agricultural producers are also trying to fight for those legal documents to have fewer human rights provisions in them
Nostramans do not care for our notions of sexual orientation. Their culture assumes that most of the population is either bisexual or not bisexual but willing to engage in homosexual sex as a form of survival / dominance / group bonding / all three at once. Whether or not they're actually attracted to the person is irrelevant. ( And the gender of the participants even moreso. )
Like on Nostramo it's often more about power than some idealistic notion of love—The strong can take whatever they please and you want to prove your strength, don't you? If you're mighty enough, you don't even need to worry about that pesky question of consent.
Just before he went into exile 40k Kon made a bargin with Craftworld Iybraesil to have Fel Zharost / Khyron kidnapped and murdered. Those who recieved that cloned geneseed were slowly purged over the next century until the only genetic legacy of his son is a corpse displayed in Solemnace. And so began Kon's millennia long enmity with the Grey Knights.
( He saw the fanatics his sons would become under imperium's hands. Khyron was merely one of many loyalist branches pruned by their father in those centuries. They'd renounced their right to exist as his sons when they'd turned their backs on Nostramo )
A lot of 40k kons hatred for roboute is misdirected and like... people often hate the guy enabling their abuser just as much as if not more than the one tormenting them. It's not entirely rational but the man isn't exactly stable either. He sees a man who behaves just like his father while he's getting beaten in the metaphorical storage closet for being a bad son / brother. Of course he's gonna hate his guts forever.
His bitterness towards Vulkan in that verse is that of someone who knows that his brother sees him being abused and did nothing.
Oh 40k Kon 100% had a hand in Dorn's death. Who do you think murdered Archamus? In the decades before his murder, so many Terminators and Librarians met strange ends at the hands of "xenos pirates" and "traitor elements", butchered in battles they should've—by all means—won with ease. It's almost as if someone were feeding inteligence to their enemies.
40k Kon's contempt for Dorn has potentially surpassed perturabo levels of spite. Like treating him as a rival implies a degree of respect above treating him as an obsessive thing that exists to torment him.
Part of being the adult in the room is letting your brother be abused and doing nothing because you cant afford to rock the boat anymore. and having to gaslight your brothers just to keep them in line because the alternative is letting them implode the imperium with their squabbling
Smth smth roboutes slow moral decay as emperor regent and how he slowly becomes his father. theres a reason kon hates him 10k years later and it isnt just childish jealousy
thinking about how au kons horrible post heresy behavior looks like to roboute.
like theres this guy who keeps threatening and extorting you for privileges and never seems to be satisified or grateful no matter how much you try to accommodate his demands. and he keeps starting shit between his brothers and the nascent church and the senate as if he wants a second civil war. he wont stop sabotaging your attempts to maintain the peace and eventually you come to the realization that none of your appeals to brotherhood will ever work because he now sees you as his mortal enemy. he wants you to fail. so you stop trying and start punishing him which only makes him more spiteful and on and on it goes for another century. but at least he has stopped openly opposing your reforms even if he wont stop spitting on your fathers name. though he wont stop prophecies of doom at the worst possible moments just when you think youve make headway on fixing the damage left by horus
( you see his brothers abusing him too but you do nothing because you dont have time for his childish games. and you see how its stopped his obvious attemps to manuevering the senate into overthrowing you. in time you come to appreciate how dorn beats him back into line whenever he oversteps the bounds of good public relations )
and after fulgrims blade cuts through your neck you realize that he foresaw this too. he couldve save you but he didnt because he wanted this. your death. dorns death. the downfall of all you know and love
imagine the sheer despair of roboutes final moments when he sees kon talking to marius about what must be done. their eyes meet and roboute sees the relief and triumph in his eyes just as he is shut away forever ( or so it seems )
There's smth funny about the night lords having one guy who regularly engages in ritual self mutilation. This guy is slowly cutting off his own fingers and feeding them to people joint by joint. lLike we consider it a medical condition but he considers disassociating from his body a spiritual ideal. His religion is wack and nobody in this universe is ok.
And in one verse he is their spirital leader. Emperor help them all.
Kon has such horrific ideas about the nature of love and consent like holy shit. He does not understand the difference between romantic and physical attraction and since he finds the latter repulsive...
Lets just say that if he were to ever experience romantic attraction, initially anything he does would amount to assault in his mind. He would loathe himself immensely for failing to be above it all. Even if he would never actually want to sexually assault anyone there'd be this suspicion in the back of his mind that he could. And would. And if he did he would get away with it because by Nostraman standards he can. The only person who could hold him accountable in that hypothetical scenario is his own wretched self. By torturing himself to prevent something that will never happen aka commiting the crime of being human.
This feral cat is a mess. Nostramo does not produce functional people. It's what happens when you have no social contract whatsoever and the power to take whatever you want by force is the only rule of the land—For the mightly, consent is pretty frosting on a cake they were already planning to eat. If they wanted to stop you, they would've had a stronger gang at their back. ( Then, the situation would be reversed. ) Most of Kon's personality was formed as a response to that kind of environment.
Canon Kon is strictly speaking an sex repulsed allophobe. Straight people and gay people are equally disgusting creatures just waiting to rape any man, woman or child they can get away with. Gender and orientation do not factor into his reasoning after all he's seen—On Nostramo, such things are about power and being able to wield it against your lessers of any gender. Mortals claim to love each other but do they really? What is love but an intellectualization of mankind's animal nature? There is nothing more repulsive in his mind than an animal without the fetters of fear.
All human urges must be chained for the good of others.
Sanguinius cants his head from left to right, ringlets springing over golden breast plate at his inquisitive motions. " Night Haunter, I had mistaken you with a guest here, but — I see no one. " His apex predator senses would never betray him; four hearts drum idly between the two of them with no error in the count. Blood fouls the room, copper beneath cloaks of skin, yet all he sees perched upon Curze's altar is a plain skull and the sitting aria of rot which pads the walls — all festering and very much dead.
" Who are you talking to? "
"My son, Angel—Seishou Tjie of Epirus Secundus returned to me by the Lion's brats," the Night Haunter snap, setting down his glass of wine to glare most irrately at his brother.
First he interrupts a private moment with his son and now he's here to taunt him. Can't he see the boy seated on his knee, as droll as ever despite his brief imprisonment? He's almost temped to reach for the chainglave and give the Angel a piece of his mind if he continues with his insane jabbering.
...And yet he can do nothing without risk to Tjie's fragile body. A pity.
"Are you satisfied, brother? Or shall you take your fill of my gifts, you noisome magpie?"
