peace was something sought after yet so seemingly hard to keep. when robin was found & brought into the shepherds’ forces, he immediately become aware that while many wished to resolve strife calmly & without violence, many thrived off of it. they lived off death, and murder, and taking what they could from who they could. when he hardly knew his name, robin quickly learned the harshest reality: peace does not come easily. he knows this now. he knows it so well. if gangrel’s constant invoking of a war (and success in doing so) between ylisse and plegia were any sort of indication, it was the recent hurdle of valm’s impending invasion.
“ it is alright. i know henry can be a little…
excitable at times. “
truthfully, robin wasn’t sure how the boy maintained such a cheerful demeanour in these dour times. when they were already on the cusp of another war ─ how could any reasonable human being not be on pins & needles? it was baffling, but henry’s optimism was contagious and in spite of the horrors he oft spoke, robin knew he only meant the best.
relief is a blessing which washes over tense shoulders when he hears she’s willing to assist ─ if only for the moment. azura may be an enigma outside of boundaries of anyone’s understanding, but robin has no such doubt for her character. to do so would be no different than one suggesting distrust in him. she shows she wishes to help the shepherds’ cause, and just as chrom had done for him, robin expresses the same level of trust toward her.
“ thank you, azura. i really mean it.
even the smallest contribution can push things
into our favour. perhaps i should fill you in with
what i have so far, and we can work something out? “
his relief was visible if only for a moment. she knew the strain of being the tactician; for almost every move in a battle be your command and the result of every move burden you. she watched yukimura in hoshido have that responsibility. she watched ryoma, xander, and corrin all have that same responsibility. the two princes of the battling kingdoms, however, have learned to shoulder it according. but corrin... her dear corrin had yet to learn how to cope. she helped corrin at any chance she could; she wouldn’t let her commander or friend be weighed down by something so... heavy.
it pained her a bit to know she could nothing. but she understood that misfortune happened. not even the greatest tactician like robin could stop those from happening.
“i think that would be best,” she said, closing her eyes to think. “i will go where you tell me.”
