she almost smiles at that. “it’s just a big show,” she says, looking at everyone playing their part, her parents included. “i don’t see the point in even showing up if you didn’t know them,” she says with a shrug, “i’m only here because of my parents.” it made her sound cold, and maybe a little cruel, there was a lot of things that arden needed to learn, but she was always faithful when it came to her emotions. “i think they’ll be talking rodolphus’ ear off before lady bagman can get to them.”

“She was a classmate and it would make you look like you wanted something horrible to happen to her family if you didn’t show up to an event organized by Mr. Lestrange, don’t you think?” She said levelly, “Well than perhaps you should just leave now and risk whispers regarding your morality.”

           ❛  i  couldn’t  agree  more.  it’s  gotten  rather…  boring  around  these  parts.  ❜  he  mentions,  truly  just  bored  with  his  own  day  to  day  life  while  he  waited  for  something  new  to  happen.  and  he  was  sure  something  good  would  happen  soon.  ❛  something  always  tends  to  take  over  and  drama  ensues  during  the  summers  —  it’s  just  a  matter  of  what,  who,  and  when.  ❜  

“It has, hasn’t it?” Aveline smirked at him, she looked him up and down, “Maybe we could do something fun?” She suggested clasping her hands infront of her lap as she leaned back into her chair.

arden’s parents were currently talking to chief warlock, often trading glances with each other and then looking back at arden. it took everything in her not to have a stronger reaction about the whole thing, shaking her head she grabbed a glass that was sitting on a tray and started to drink it, looking at her mother whenever she made eye contact. her mother had looked down at the drink and back at her and shook her head once before smiling back at the chief. “merlin,” she whispered to herself, grabbing another one of the drinks and walking towards a nice corner where she could isolate. she didn’t want to come. people crying scared her, people’s fake grievances annoyed her, but she knew that of course her family would be here, her parents already mingling with the other pureblood families, often looking at others in disdain. “what is a socially acceptable time to leave?” she was mostly asking herself out loud, fingers tapping against the glass before looking up.

“I think you’re required to stay a bit longer, chin up.” She said looking over arden. “I’m sure you’re going to be able to slip away as soon as your parents get stuck in a conversation with old lady bagman, she can talk anyones ears off... so you can sneak away if a memorial service is too boring for you.”

      “  is  everything  a  transaction  to  you ,  aveline ?  i  might’ve  not  been  your  friend ,  but  for  a  time ,  i  would  have  considered  you  mine .”  he’s  tempted  to  compete  her  reproving  gaze ,  but  tristan  is  stopped  once  she  unexpectedly  lays  a  hand  on  his  cheek .  this  makes  him  pause ,  staying  in  place  as  he  waits  for  her  next  move .  her  brilliant  green  matched  against  his  muddy  brown ,  a  battle  that  tristan  wasn’t  sure  he  wanted  to  win .  “ more  what  , exactly ?”  he  tests  once  she  pulls  away  from  him ,  his  fingers  aching  to  wipe  away  the  imprint  of  her  touch .   “ i  won’t  apologize  for  knowing  what  i  wanted  and  realizing  that  you  couldn’t  give  it  to  me.”  

“Now, I know you’re lying tristan, I was nothing more than a prize to be won, a political ploy for you and nothing more.. maybe in a different life we could’ve been friends.” She said her thumb rubing over his cheek as she pulled away, looking down at her hand, “More like me... I didn’t end up being delicate enough for you and you weren’t compliant enough for me... that was it wasn’t it? that and  we were horrid together.”

he remembers the many social events his parents often had to drag him to, over time he got to enjoy them. he was ever the politican in that manner, he did well when it came to speaking to people, that was never the hard part. though there were times when he wished to just go off and find some peace in quiet. like now. though it seemed everyone else had the same bloody idea as him. he nodded his head, knowing the last name of course, and her father. “right,” he says, shaking her hand, “i’ve spoken to your father not too long ago.” it was polite conversation, he looks at the cigarette that she hid behind her back. “do you need a light for that?” he asks a bit amused.

Aveline smiled, he was charming it wasn’t a wonder why he was in the position he was in now. “Yes, he speaks quite highly of you, despite being unable to vote, you had my family’s full support during your passed election.” She said her eyes meeting his with a devious twinkle. “I would like that, I’ve been meaning to stop, I think it’s a dreadful habit on a lady, but it’s just a bit of a nice break in the evening, don’t you think?”

     “Not long until we’re out of here,” he replies, growing antsy at the thought of leaving. “My father is a powerful man indeed,” he confirms. Regulus mulls over her comments about his family dynamic with a grimace, thinking about how uncomfortable this summer will be now that the election has passed and he’s become an official death eater. “Not a good face to see when upset, that’s for sure,” he adds, worrying his lip.      “This summer,” he starts, pausing for a few beats to think over what he’s about to say. “I expect to see some excitement. I also expect to see you around, if I’m not mistaken. Perhaps at the July ball?”

Aveline nodded sharply at the comment, memories of her own mother’s wrath. “Well he’s no reason to be upset with you, you’re doing quite well.” She smiled, encouragingly. “Yes, I’m staying in England for the next while... I’ve got some events to begin planning and well.. my family is being quite hush hush, but im expecting they will announce my engagement any day now.”’ She said, her tone level as she looked at him, “I should be in attendance, yes. Save me a dance, will you? It’s nice to see at least one friendly face at those things.”

wherever rodolphus was seemed to be a hot spot for many people it seemed like. he had quite a few people walking up towards him, often trying to make chitchat that he didn’t care about but indulged in anyway. he’s taking another inhale from the cigarette when someone else walks up to him, he blows the smoke out away from the woman and leans forward to grab her hand to shake. “i’m doing well.” he didn’t recognize the person, but he supposed they’d let themselves be known to him regardless. “just needed a smoke.” he says, a polite smile, tapping the ash. 

Aveline wasn’t an unfriendly person, she was becoming more and more well known in the English community, the budding socialite as she was being publicly referred to as and a strong recruiter in less open circles. She was feeling great, but sneaking away from the social event for a bit of respite was more needed than she’d assumed, when she finally got fresh air. “Aveline Allaire, I went to school with your brother... my father, Henri Allaire speaks highly of you.. Henri Allaire.” She said shaking his hand delicately,

“You have no idea of what I have done. I do, everything, everything for this family. ” She said firmly, the mark on her arm burning in moments like this, moments of doubt, Aveline believed the cause and supported it but she did it in part to protect herself and her family, get as trusted as possible to ensure none of her family would be collateral damage in the fall out of what could come. She wouldn’t admit it to anyone, but she envied ellie’s careless behaviour and wished to preserve it as long as possible but with that there were some oversights as aveline would refer to them. “I...I didn’t know Ellie. You never said... None of us are safe Ellie, but I am trying okay? Please trust that.”  She urged,  not sure what else to say.”Just try and stay away from her this summer, don’t get in the way...”

rod had tried to quit smoking for years, and for the election had had succeeded for a while. but he finds himself at his smoking spot, away from the public (as much as he can get) looking down at daily prophet, there wasn’t anything too interesting that caught his eye, he normally scans to find his name anywhere but it’s been unusually quiet. he folds it up and places it in the rubbish bin, closing his eyes briefly enjoying the brief alone time, though, that never lasted really long, he hears footsteps and he lifts his head curiously.

Aveline hated smoking in public, outside of school, it was a dependancy she’d formed and hadn’t been able to break and in her mind that meant weakness, she’d slipped away from the event she was at to find a secret corner, when she saw him. “Mr. Lestrange, how do you do?” She said dropping her own smoke swiftly behind her and reaching out a hand.

evan had just finished a double mission which lasted two months; at last he got to visit one of his favourite pubs in hogsmeade, though was unfortunately reminded that the summer holidays had indeed starter, for it was full of unfamiliar faces and louder than usual. while bar fights were his forte once upon a time (and they still were - more often than the rosier would like to admit), the current quarrel was doing nothing but getting on his nerves and depriving him from enjoying his scotch in peace. with a sigh, evan got up from the bar and got between the two people who looked like they were on the brink of clawing each other’s eyes out. “ is there a problem? ” he raised an eyebrow, his tone more threatening than it should’ve been.

Aveline hadn’t meant to get the two men fighting but part of her delighted at the chaos, it wasn’t often she got to enjoy these things but when the Rosier split it up, it ruined her fun, though she didn’t dismay. “I am so sorry, Mr. Rosier... they were just leaving, you know how boys can be when it comes to the attentions of a pretty girl.” She said to him, the realization she wasn’t going to be courted by either of the boys she’d been flirting with setting in and it caused them to shy away from her and the older man.  She’d been out for the evening socializing and scouting for potentials, whether it be targets or recruits, she was just looking around the bar. “I’m not sure you remember me, but I’m Aveline Allaire.”

      “  it’s  hardly  a  productive  conversation  when  you’re  being  so  patronizing ,  aveline .  there’s  very  little  to  gather  about  you  when  you’re  so  quick  to  be  critical .  i  don’t  think  it’s  selfish  of  me  to  realize  that  and  realize  that  it’d  be  better  to  be  cordial  as  friends .  you’re  the  one  who  decided  differently .” 

“I would argue there is much to gather when someone is quick to be critical, perhaps I was too quick to judge but you” She said setting her empty glass down. “You forget, we were never friends.” She said stepping closer to him moving her hand to his cheek in a manner, that could be seen as a loving gesture to anyone who didn’t know her, she met his eyes with a smirk, her taunting clear in her actions. “we could’ve been great together, if you were just a little more...” She trailed moving her hand back and looking up at him,

     “  there’s  a  difference  between  knowing  and  being  familiar  with  someone .  if  we  truly  had  nothing  in  common ,  then  i  hardly  think  we  would’ve  explored  anything .  i  wouldn’t  be  so  quick  to  dismiss  that  truth ,  even  if  it  turned  out  to  be  a  wrong  assumption .” 

“I’d say  we got pretty familiar, but I think we have being attractive in common and that was all.. besides you hardly got to know me, Mckinnon, just saw what you wanted to and that’s fine but don’t blame me fore doing the same.”
