soooo disappointed The Odyssey didn't have sirens. like, they had some tiny figure sit up on the veeeery distant rocks, but you couldn't really tell what it was.
Christopher Nolan, you are a dirty coward. ofc, it's easy to make Cillian Murphy look hot on the screen, now rise to the challenge and give us hot woman-bird hybrids!
The “nobody” scene in the odyssey is absolutely not just a clever pun—it’s a character defining moment for Odysseus because he refuses to be nobody. He devised an incredible plan that worked and he could have saved his men and returned home much sooner but he just had to yell to the cyclops that he isn’t nobody—he’s Odysseus, king of Ithaca so now Poseidon knows who to curse which severely fucks up the rest of the journey.
The “nobody” scene highlights both Odysseus’s cleverness but also his arrogance and those two traits define Odysseus throughout the entire story. It’s a foundational aspect of Odysseus’s character and cutting the scene displays a shocking level of ignorance and disregard for the themes in the source material.

genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back

Considering that the Heated Rivalry series has already managed to influence the real Winter Olympics (with actors carrying the flame), it would only be fair to host the next Olympics in Russia and allow russian athletes to compete under the russian flag instead of a neutral one.
And since the story takes place during the Sochi Olympics, I’d obviously choose that very location.
For the sake of authenticity and realism, russian organizers could also occupy Crimea once again (or just torture more civilians) — just to make sure ukrainians are busy with something other than being inconvenient people on the internet.
As it stands now, though — amateurs at organizing.
The actors themselves might not be at fault, but from where I stand, no one involved with the series seems to be thinking about how bad all of this looks right now.
It’s hard not to see the whole production as effectively pro-russian when it continues to ignore the feelings of ukrainians during an ongoing military invasion.
The logic seems to be: we must support a fictional gay russian and his story — even if that means dismissing real LGBTQ+ Ukrainians and what they have to say.
