---- LAUREN SLOANE;
Lauren stared at Avril, lips in a tight line in anger and annoyance. “Sorry to disappoint you. Just little old me.” She barreled into the room, stopping both her rant and herself for just a moment. “What kind of pizza did you get?” She asked, turning to her cousin as she thought for a moment. “Please tell me you got something with vegetables. I’m fucking starving.” Normally, she wouldn’t barge into someone’s house like this and demand food, much less a family member of Avril was different. She leveled her with yet another disgruntled look, the expression bordering on a pout. “Don’t tell me what to do.”
She snipped, knowing that she was being immature. “Yes!” She answered immediately, her voice raising in anger. “Yes, it would be that bad because we’re talking about the same people who disinherited me because I posted a YouTube video that disagreed with their views.” Okay so it was an entire channel devoted to fucking with her father’s campaign and shitting on the Republican party but it was neither here nor there. “I wouldn’t call what they’re feeling missing me. They just want me back so they’ll have another puppet. That’s all I am to them.” She sighed, cradling the bottle of wine to her chest. “Where are your glasses?”
“Supreme. Close, yet not close enough. Sorry.” Avril replied, as she shut the door behind her cousin. Reminding in place, the brunette turned just enough so that her attention was firmly upon her cousin. “Had I been expecting visitors, I might’ve been more prepared.” She snipped at Lauren, “I tell everyone want to do. No amount of cute puppy pout is going to change that, Laur.” She had too many years in with controlling and bossy, there was no changing it now. And even if she didn’t, they both were aware it ran in the family.
Okay. So maybe she was a little bias. But really? Who could blame her? When her father died, there really wasn’t any family left on that side, and her mother? Well, she wasn’t really motherly. More like a teenage girl who simply refused to grow up. Her uncle and her aunt? They had really no responsibilities to her, or her siblings. Yet, they gave more support to them then their own mother did. “Stop being so over dramatic.” She spoke, now with a step towards her baby cousin. “Your parents are not perfect.” Avril agreed, “In fact, they’re no where near the perfection they like the public to believe. They made mistakes, huge mistakes, but so have you. And I think you’re going to regret not trying to talk it out with them.” She truly wanted to believe that Henry and Louisa weren’t a lost cause. “And I’ve seen your work, while I, personally, can agree with a lot of it, --- you and I may have a slightly different definition of the word disagree.”
---- LAUREN SLOANE;
@avrilyork
Lauren knocked on the door of her cousin’s home, tapping her foot in time with her banging. Her free hand held a large bottle of wine, which she planned on possibly sharing with Avril, but that was still up in the air. This was totally her fault, after all, she was the one who suggested answering her mother’s call to begin with. The moment the door opened, the younger woman started ranting. “You are not going to fucking believe this. My mother, Louisa fucking Sloane, just tried to bribe me to go to Atlanta to see our shitty ass family. Can you believe that?” She asked, earnest eyes on her elder cousin.
“About damn time---” Avril cheered as she swung the door open, expecting a completely different individual on the other end. Doe eyes widening at their cousin, a bottle of wine in hand, and a clearly displeased demeanor. She fell silence as the other began on her rant, yet it wasn’t her words that took her back, but the volume of her voice. Considering she already knew that much. “Damn it, I was hoping you’d be the pizza guy.” She would proceed to response, her tone teasing --- light. The smirk she wore dropped from her features as she took in Lauren, “Oh come on, don’t give me that look.” Then moving out of the way so that the girl could enter, hazel eyes never leaving Lauren. “Would that be so bad?” She questioned, aware of the answer. “She misses you, they miss you.... Although, I did tell her to take baby steps, clearly she doesn’t listen very well.”

do you know what everyone said to me when i told them i wanted to be a surgeon? They said, I WAS TOO PRETTY, OR NOT SMART ENOUGH.

---- CONNOR KING;
“Implying I know you well enough or care to figure out what the go-to is supposed to be.” Connor rarely bothered to converse, let alone understand, those outside of the Reaper and their immediate connections so while he knew Avril on sight by feature memorization alone… He couldn’t be held responsible for actually knowing her. “Are you waiting for a round of applause?” Robotically swallowing the alcohol wasn’t quite enough to get him going, but he appreciated that it was at least gone now. Pouring another per the woman’s request, he slid it across the table while removing her old glass. “Try not to take another forty minutes with that one, I have to close in an hour and I’d ideally like to see that spot empty before then.”
Avril knew her limits, of course, she hardly admitted them, but she was more then aware of them. Therefore, she had stared at the glass of whiskey for a lot longer then she should've. Aware that the moment she drank it, she was going to keep going until she couldn't see straight. And even then, she'd never admit that she had too much. Fortunately, she was alone, therefore, she had no one stopping her. Unable to to suppress the eye roll that followed his words, "Just shut up and keep them coming---" A pause, "No, leave the bottle. I'll be out in twenty." The woman hues pierced his own, "Bill paid. Seat empty. Tip included." She promised, before downing the glass long digits had been tightening around. Placing the glass down, and sliding it back down at him, the woman leaned forward to grab the bottle. "Keep the glass."
---- LOUISE LOCKWOOD;
With carefully hues, Louise carefully looked over the called out patron in the middle of the quiet sidewalk in Westbrook after only to quick realize of them being on the phone. Her free hand instantly reaching up and pressing her digits in her own forehead. Taking a moment to compose herself, piercing blue hues come to see it was Avril and everything felt with ease, causing her to smile and same digits once pressed against her forehead upon her chest. “Oh my, thank goodness it’s you. I feel like I complete idiot yelling and only soon to realize you were on the phone,” instant words escaped Louise’s mouth, breathing heavily but calming down and laughing lightly at how quickly her relief was brought to her. “No, you haven’t but I could get used to people reminding me. It feels nice.” Beaming expression instantly coated over her lips, other holding out upon the wallet. The last time Louise had seen Avril was during the Christmas season, when she saw her friend was buying decorations and it did make her wonder how everything went. “I hope I didn’t interrupt your phone call though. Feel free to yell or punch me, but give me a warning, I bruise easily.” Laughter, although jokingly playing now. “How are you? How did everything go with the holidays?”
Avril was truly grateful that it had been Louise that came to find the contents in which she had dropped, especially that of her wallet. She was more then aware of the process involved when it came to replacing all of the important shit within the black wallet. She didn’t have time for that. “At least you took the opportunity to try and give it back, not a lot of people would do that.” She reminded her. At one point, Avril would’ve been one of those people. “I can make that happen if you’d like.” She suggested, “Just say the word, Lockwood, and you got it.” Everyone should be complimented, grant it, if it wasn’t about her skills in the OR, then Avril couldn’t give two seconds about them. But she knew others liked to be complimented, and hey, credit where due, she figured. Taking the wallet from her, “Thanks. And no, no --- teenagers. Call was over.” She assured with a firm nod of her head, more than over. “Yeah, I don’t warn when I punch. Sorry, but don’t worry, you’re in luck this time around.” There was brief pause as the blonde turned the subject upon Avril, a semi-awkward laugh fell from her lips, then a shrug. “Yeah, it was great.” It wasn’t a complete lie. “Kids’ enjoyed it, so. How was yours?”
---- VALENTINA TURNER;
Valentina’s uncle always told her that it took the bravest and the strongest to do what he did. She never realize how true that sentence was until she herself went on her first tour. Yeah sure, training was fun, you got to fool around some days, but when it comes down to being shipped off, to actually fight off on enemy it was no joke. And teamwork was a must. People like Liam and her Uncle were definitely one of America’s greatest. A soft sigh leaving her lips as she looked at her friend and let out a small chuckle. “Oh come on, you won’t let me die?” She asked, tucking a strand of her dark locks behind her ear. “Do I have to do the whole dying wish thing while i’m dying and tell you not to save me, would that actually change your mind or no?” Although Val possibly knew the answer Avril was going to give her, she was just pressing her buttons to see what she would actually tell her, especially now being an pain about it. “My next class is scheduled for Monday at 9am, and then I have another at 5pm. So whichever your able to make is fine with me. I’ll save you a spot in the front because the class get filled quickly.” She assured her friend, it was true. Those who knew or went to the gym knew how quickly the class filled out because it was a great workout routine that Val usually had planned. “Definitely, I could go for a nice chicken salad, what about you?”
The thing no one really knew about Avril was the bond she had with her brother. Sure she had her other siblings, and she loved them all to death. But he was her rock, he kept her head above water when all she wanted to do was drown. Losing him was like losing a part of herself, like losing her father all over again, but Avril did what she was best at, she filled that hole in with something else; work. Avril was one of the best surgeons they’ve seen in decades, and little knew that the reason for that was because she was empty as all fuck on the inside. “Absolutely not.” She responded, with a small shake of her head. “That goes against everything I practice. I’ve gotta be able to say ‘I did everything that I could for you’.” She explained, “Do you even know who you’re talking to?” Teasing, and light, something she wasn’t often it seemed. “I’ll check my schedule, and let you know.” Truthfully she’d be surprised if she had any time to do this, she hardly had time to take a shower or eat. “Yeah, definitely not a salad. I want steak. Medium well. A baked potato, and rice.”
---- LENA ABERNATHY;
When her friend approached the bar, Lena quickly ordered herself a refill. If anything she was not leaving that bar until she was tripping over her own feet while heading home to bother Paxton and then go off to meet Tony once she was a tad sober. “I tried doing that once to my partner while he was sleeping in the truck…..he woke up the minute it burned a hole through his pants. I need tranquilizer darts.” She joked, although she was semi-serious about it needing them. Holding her now fresh glass of poison to the brunette, the blonde narrowed her eyes in confusion at the other’s remark. “Wait, why am I faking a heart attack tho? Do you have an eye on potentially smooching on someone in here?” She looked around before looking back over at her friend.
Avril’s entire life had been surrounded with kids, and being the provider. This wasn’t to say she hadn’t had her sat backs, of course, she had. Everyone does, and at the early age that she was when she started into the club scene, it only made sense. Drinking, drugs, sex --- they were truly the wonders of the world. But she had come such a long way from that time. She still drank, occasionally. But tonight, she simply wasn’t feeling it. “Of course you did.” The brunette mumbled, not at all surprised by what the blonde had to say. “Because it’s going to get me out of here?” Avril thought out loud, although knowing that probably wasn’t the best idea. “Not really.” She answered, honestly, “As great as sex sounds, and it does sound great. I’m just not feeling it tonight, Abernathy. Clearly, however ---” She glanced down at the glass in Lena’s hands, then back up at her, “--- you are.”

“Something tells me that your front door wasn’t supposed to be open.” The brunette haired male informs Avril with a smile, nonetheless entering into the home with two bags full of late Christmas presents for Avril and the kids from the family. Setting them down on the ground, he embraced the other before momentarily moving away. Things have been quite busy, as of recently. With Asher properly moving in after the New Year and the girls returning back to school. It was back into the swing of things. The girls were exhausted by the end of the day and moving Asher’s things in. He didn’t expect things to be moving this rate but after ten years, picking right where you left off, it didn’t seem as far fetched. The girls were finding great joy with Asher around and talking to her about everything possible. It was adorable. It warmed his heart. With how the New Year was already heading, everything felt like the breath of fresh air for once. Not one had he forgotten about Avril, the dear and near friend in his life. Although, last few weeks were busy, he couldn’t help but to come bearing gifts. “How are you, Avril? And where can I put these for the kids? Do you still have your tree up?” He wondered with a smile, knowing he had come over and helped with decorating not long ago. “Don’t worry, there are presents for you too. Hopefully, you all like them and I promise this isn’t just a curtesy drop in. I made sure to make some time for you today.”
"Yeah, I'll accept the charges." The brunette replied, defeated, as the flat surface of the phone rested against the side of her face. The end of a cigarette finding it way in between her lips, but before she could light it, the familiar voice spoke on the other end. "Aaaaaannnnd happy New Years to you to mother." Avril stated, cutting off the rant that began on the other end. Yet, it didn't seem to cease her mother's train of thought, as Avril fell silent and leaned back against the dinning table. The dramatic eye roll that would follow was nothing sure of long, and drawn out. Every word spoken into the phone had been a repeat of so many other times before. I didn't do anything wrong. They are accusing me of nothing. These damn cops hate me. This is injustice. I want a lawyer. Get me one. A good one. Bail me out. Yadayadayada. The cigarette that had been in between her lips now rested in between two fingers. The irritation from her own mother's voice caused her to miss the fact that she had partially crushed the white stick. "You were caught trying to prostitute yourself to an undercover cop! And you had cocaine in your possession! How is that not your fault!" Avril yelled into the phone, "Oh my god, you're almost sixty! How can you still act so goddamn childish. --- No, no! No. I don't care. I'm tired of bailing you out. You got yourself into this one, get your ass out of---" Hauling, Avril wet her lips, as a hollow chuckle fell from her lips, "Yeah, well, you know what? Screw you to." Before anything else could be said, Avril hung the phone up, and slammed it down onto the wooden table. The cigarette she held now in two parts, one of which rested on the base of her feet. Throwing the end of it onto the table, she reached for the pack that rested just inches from her phone, and pulled out a new one. Placing it in between her lips, she reached for the lighter, only to jump when someone spoke behind her. Whipping towards the sound of the voice, she let out a sigh of relief, "Jesus -- Reid, you scared the shit out of me. No, no -- it wasn't." She assured, "I got sidetracked." Green hues then falling to the gifts that rested in both his hands, a warm smile appearing at the gesture. "You didn't have to do that." She expressed, "Thank you though." Then lighting the cigarette, she looked over he shoulder at the tree that still rested in the corner of her living room. "Among other things... I'll give you five seconds to rethink that answer, because if you're serious, I've got a lot of shit for you to do."
