During WWII the USA made thousands of "Liberty Ships" to carry cargo to Europe. The Richard Montgomery was carrying bombs and explosives to London when it grounded and split in two in the Thames river. They can't safely remove the explosives, and it's so dangerous to shipping that there has to be 24/7 guard boats around it.

If it ever explodes, it's theorized that it could be the largest non-nuclear explosion in history, and send a tidal wave up the Thames and wipe London clean.
