If you’re ever stressing about why we live if life is pointless, read this.
There was a 10 year old boy who lived happily with his family on the 10th Floor of a building. His house was in front of a beautiful park where children usually gathered in the evening, and played. Thier cheers, running, shouting, the deliberate small cheating - everything was what an ideal childhood has.
Needless to say, the boy was fascinated with all the activities happening on the ground. Every evening, he would wait eagerly for the children to come and play. Those few hours seemed to be his best time of the day.
One day, he asked his mother if he can also go and play with these children. His mom first tried to explain the child that everything looks good from the 10th floor, but he runs a risk of getting injured, being cheated and getting deafeated when he goes out to play. As expected, the child did not like the answer, but had no choice but to agree with his mother.
A few weeks passed. The child’s curiosity and eagerness to play with other children kept increasing. His demands to his mother started to become more vocal. At last, the mother had to give in to the child’s request.
She said, “OK my child, Go and have fun. If you are so adamant, then i won’t stop you. Go. Enjoy your time with everyone there. But whenever you are tired or exhausted, come back.” The child happily agreed and experienced a beautiful time before he came back that night. Those few hours, he did not remember anyone at his home - not even his mom.
Next day, the child was again adamant to go and play. Mother gave in yet again. But today was not that good a day for the child. He fell down while running, and the only person he remembered at that moment was his mom. He went back within 30 minutes that day and made a decision not to come back again. He did not like the experience and the pain.
A few days again from the balcony, and he could not resist the temptation of going back again. Mom, with her unconditional love, could not refuse. This process continued forever…….
Here is the point. The child goes everyday, comes back everyday, sometimes enjoying the game, sometimes getting injured, defeated and disappointed but he still wants to go back again. This childish urge is what defines our repeated births and our reason to live.
This is exactly what happens when we, the soul, look at the world below. We want to go again and again, even though we get bruised, defeated and disappointed while we are in the world. HE keeps showering his unconditional love, and prepares us again for our next visit. We know we may not enjoy everything down there, but our childish urge pushes us on…for yet another experience.
